Great review Mark!!
Let me tell you, this board is fucking awesome. I've got 35 days on mine. Love the orange colorway this year too. Probably the most underrated board of any brand rn
I want to pull the trigger on one this season
Sizing question for those in the know. Advanced New England/Ice Coast rider, 5’10”, 205 lbs, 11.5 boot. Daily driver is a Gnu RCC3 158w. Typical riding is 75% charging hard on black/blue, 25% goofing around on blue/green side hits and rollers. Love Mervin tech for the type of conditions I typically see. Looking hard at getting a Gremlin to make a two-board quiver. From what I have read, the Gremlin will do well in powder conditions and spring slop and just general fun boosting off of stuff. Volume shifted with magnatraction looks like it would have no problems railing high speed turns on hardpack as well. I am torn on sizing: 152 or 155 cm? Boots should fit either, not sure how much high-speed stability/carving prowess I would be trading for agility/playfulness going to the smaller board. Hoping to pick the size that won’t make me want to head to the parking lot to swap out with the RCC3 in the afternoon when the good snow is busted because the Gremlin is too squirrely.
Also on the ice coast with similar riding habits, 6'4", 190lb, 11.5 boot. I think you could get away with either, but I've been on the 155 for a while and recommend it. The thing rips, is still agile, and more width really let's you lay over/drive. It'll do everything you're looking for and on the rare powder days, its great.
I own this board it kick ass. If you're not already a hard carving side hit boosting pow hunter, this board will make you one. That's what happened to me from park rat to resort slasher lol. in all honesty this board is good on everything, and is really poppy. Sadly I core shot it getting greedy in the trees. Hopefully still just as good this season.
That’s so funny I did the same thing on my second ride, big ol core shot, repaired it and good to go
I got a size 8 boot. Do you think the size 148 will still be too wide?
At 180 lbs with US size 13. Shall I go with the 158? Or the new 161?
Size 155 or 158 for boot 12? Also will this board be good to start playing with posi posi angles?
Please 🙏
i want a gremlin twin so bad
At 160 with size 10 boot, can't decide between the 152 and 155, what do you think? I previously owned a way too big Gnu Beast at 158 which I loved even though it was way too big
That boot size puts you more in the 155 category than the 152. Depends how much you like doing high edge angle carving etc. Body height definitely a factor as well. If you are 5'7" or taller, prob the 155.
Hi, would you think the Gremlin in a size 155 would be too big for me? I’m 5’6” I weight about 210lb and wear a size 8 Thirtytwo TM2 boot. I would consider myself an intermediate rider. I’ve also ridden a Ride Warpig in a size 151 before and I believe the waist width of both boards are fairly similar. Would the extra 4cm in length make a difference?
how is this on medium/big jumps?
Is transfer binding better?
Just picked up a 158. Cannot wait to try it.
I’m intermediate and bought the 158 and I’m 511 do you think its a bit big for my size?
@@tasoine depends on your weight and boot size
I’m leaning towards this board for 2024. What would you recommend for size for someone that’s 6 ft and 175 lbs, size 10.5 boot? The 155? I’m worried about the shape vs a traditional board and whether this felt clunky at all.
It only takes a run or two to get use to the wider waist width. You'd be fine on the 155, even the 158 actually. Once you have it dialed, you can tip the board over with WAY more confidence than the skinny traditional decks that we've all ridden for years. Enjoy !!
Thanks for the review. How is the Gremlin vs the Banked Country? Which is best for carving, powder and fun? Is the gremlin as good for a banked slalom race? :-)
I’m in the same dilemma. My Orca is dead and it is between these two to replace it. I think I will go Banked Country because the Gremlin contact length is even shorter than the Orca and I am looking for more tail for carving and landings..
You?
I really like both boards. When picking comparable sizes these two Gnu's are actually quite similar dimentionally. The Gremlin with a slightly longer nose, which might give it a spec more ease of riding in deep powder. The banked country has the progressive magnatraction, which I prefer for sure, and still rips pow. I feel the Gremlin needs an update or two, and the Banked country is dialed !!
I wish more companies made more boards in the 265-270 range!
Hopefully they do a black top with colored bottom
155lbs, 5’11” tall and size 11boot. Should I go 155cm or the 152cm gremlin? Thanks!
Definitely the 155, I have a size 9.5 and wish I bought the 152 in this.
Hi Mark. I ride a 153 Orca and feel this is the perfect size for me. I have tried the 156 Orca and found it too big. Looking to move to the Gremlin but cannot decide between the 155 and 152. What would you suggest (based on my Orca preference)? I generally like to go smaller, but concerned the 152 might be too small. 5'11" 200 pounds Size 10 boot. Thanks
Go with the 155 , you will find the 52 just too soft!!
Another question, will this board work with posi posi? I'd like to experiment with posi posi stance for the first time.
100% , this will be a great carving Machine!
@@tributeboardshop thanks for the answer! Can you also help me with the size? 82kg rider with boot 12. I'm thinking the 158 or 55?
Go 158! @@GiacintoMarcellino
Man,I like the orange way better than yellow
If it hasn't been said it's my understanding they model the colors based on different years of the AMC Gremlin cars.....not sure how many years AMC made the Gremlin or when they will run out of colors. Well, I just looked and there are red, maroon and white ones still out there and in 1972 they made the Gremlin X......maybe they will make a carbon version of the board for that one. BTW I love mine.
Something that carves as hard in a traditional shape and width?
banked country?
Easy....Burton Hometown hero(s). Dont let the width of the gremlin fool you, its easy to tip over. (unless you have small snowboard boots....under size 8.5) Also see the Lib Dynamo
i second marks Lib Dynamo suggestion. got to ride one few weeks back and it carved as hard as i could carve even on shitty hard and lumpy snow with plenty of power and fully locked in. has same camber profile as gremlin but more traditional all mountain shape and width.
is it similar to the mullairs?
This one is a little more HYBRID and Less Short Fat if that makes sense?
Gremlin or Jones Mind Expander as all mountain daily driver?
The mind expander is gorgeous. Super flowy, smooth response, and a master in the pow. The gremlin better perfomer in adverse conditions, side hits, park...everything. Very good in the pow in its own right. I'd say Gremlin as a daily driver.
@@markfawcett8142 appreciate it! What if I threw the banked country in the mix?!?!🤔
What board do you recommend for a solid intermediate rider with a size 13? Cause it seems like there are no boards for us out there.
Ride Superpig/Warpig, Bataleon Party Wave +, look into volume shifted boards
@@himboslice_ I know about those, it's all I can actually use. But except for the Party Wave+, they're still not wide enough according to reviewers. They say a 27 cm waist is good up to a size 12.
Libtech Skunk Ape II in 170UW is 285mm
@@EssenceOfTrance I have an Orca with size 13 boots and it’s fine
@@Sam_Francis yeah that's what I thought.
at 200lb with US 10 boot, should I go with the 158?
Yes 100% !
Yo! I'm 200lb with a 10.5 boot and the 155 is perfect...I love this board!!!
@@mikemcgee1969 👍👍i rode the 155 before and i love it too. Just feel like on a deep day the 155 doesn’t float too well. that’s why i m thinking to get the 158
@@keitonguan862 Yea - We are in the BC Interior - POWDER Central , so we always size up a little for float volume
@@tributeboardshop thank you for the info! Love the reviews from you guys! I personally like bigger board now too hahaha, gonna snap the 158 soon! I can't resist that orange topsheet🤣
Sexy board. Can I ride one if I am un-vaxxed?
Dm me!
