Thanks for making a great video that goes to the point, with no pointless introduction monologue. The fix sure looks promising, I'll try it later on my DS3, pressing the left stick button has been causing D-pad presses and moving the left stick has been causing interference (i.e. random jerks) in the right stick, hopefully this will help!

I've always had the idea of getting a project car and fixing it up and documenting it on my channel, but that will be a while. This is also how I corrected the unwanted button pressing except I didn't use tape. I actually cut the ends of a cue tip off just using about a half inch of the stem and placed it under the battery and it would press the board up against the ribbon very nice and evenly. Control is as good as new now
That's not a bad idea, and it saves some time. I got two controllers today, both with this issue, and I fixed them with the tape method, but next time I do it I'm gonna try putting the tape between the board and the battery
There should be extra black foam stuck to the front of the back casing. I cut it in half and stuck it on the original foam underneath the ribbon. Works Great!

I didn't 'invent' this method, so I can't say for certain, but I don't think you'd want to use aluminum foil since aluminum conducts electricity and you could risk causing a short circuit, which isn't good. A roll of electrical tape only costs a few dollars, it'd be better to just use that.
It might be the issue in the video, but I'm not an expert and my problem wasn't the same as yours. I can't imagine how doing this fix would make things worse even if it wasn't the problem.

never mind!! i had a derp moment i was testing the controller on cod 4 mw and that game dosent have vibration anyways thanks!! after a year im still not use to playing normally!
hey the anolog and X,O etc goes crazy sometimes the anolog works but it keeps going down even thought i'm not clicking it down and sometimes X and O works without any response from the anolog how do i fix this?
lol i fix one problem (the analog is fixed) and made a new one (the rumblers the things that make your control shake dont work) dosent seem disconnected any advice?
I had a bit of an accident myself while making this video, I turned it upside down during disassembly, spilling the guts out all over the table, the trick is just to not panic and calmly put everything back where it went.
I've done that with Dual Shock 2 controllers, what a pain. Thankfully, the Dual Shock 3 innards seem to be a little more solid on the inside, more ways for each component to be held in place, so things aren't gonna fall out unless you turn the thing all the way upside down
I have a problem that my controller glitch out and moves on its own making spazzed out controls random pushing of buttons thru the analig sticks i opened mine up to try and fix it but still has same problem i took an air duster to it cleaned it out it was dusty inside it stll moves randomly and i dont know of any place here that fix console and controller and i dont want to pay for a new one if i can help it my friend did give me his old controllers the dont work to use as spare parts but i wont try to do that and make it not work can anyone help me with this or do i need a new one

Why are alllllllllll my sony ps3 controllers doing this? Every time i add a new controller it starts off fine, then after playing (online maybe?) for a little while, it starts doing this shit!! Seems too coincidental that every controller i bring into my house starts doing this!! Are there hacks online cowards can put on your controller when you play them online??
Well I tried to attempted to fix my controller but the part I fawked it up and I accendently took of the rubber thing (not like that) and the paper is off from R1 and I was fixing the controller because when i was play gta 4 it goes around and i didnt do anything...fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu.?dsjifodewhdwhjkio???????? hi -_-

is the tape under the foam or under the thing that has the circuits. cant see the picture well :)

Lol, every video I see has space between the ribbon and foam, of course when i lift the ribbon, the foam is stuck to it and comes out with it.
