I just wanted to say thank you so much for this video. I have one of the new ds4 controllers the one that came out with the PS4 pro. and a kinda common problem with them is holding the L2 makes the left analog register going up for some reason. I followed this video and just took out the sensor blew on it, blew on the part it sits on and put it back in and it works like a charm. super happy I was able to fix my controller because I couldn't buy a new one or return this one
Do you mean the analog or the thumbsticks itself? Im wondering if i can solder in a ps2 analog on the ps4 controller since mine is busted and they look identical
This video finally made me understand the true cause of stick drifts. Tried isopropyl, blowing, cleaning from inside, nothing worked, because one of the wheels turned blue in my case. Replaced the wheel from one of my third party controllers, and it's working perfectly now! Thanks for the video mate! 👍🏻
this video saved me from having to replace 2 DS4 remotes. I'd tried everything else, cleaning and such and was to the point it was this or throw them away since I don't solder. I got my parts yesterday and followed the video exactly and it worked like a charm. both remotes are now in perfect working order again. Brilliant! I'm going to order a few extra parts (I found them on ebay, 1$ a box (open them for 2 sensors) free shipping. since I'm in the us and couldn't find them anywhere else) the old bad sensors were indeed discolored. Thank you so much!

i did it with my ps3 controller, but i don't replace the piece, i just "clean" it with my finger and put it back and work perfectly. Thanks from Brazil!
Thats interesting seeing as the replacement he did has nothing to do with the sprint limit switch which is clearly on the opposite side of the analog stick housing.

Thanks!! I had problems at first but all it needed was a little shifting to get right. The sensors are so extremely sensitive. A HUGE thing that seriously helped me out by the way: opening the green tabs for the first time makes them kinda lose when you pop them back in, so i used those tiny rubber bands they put on mouth braces to wrap around the whole cubed piece of the stick to make it tight again. not a legit fix but worked really well for me.
Shaun Chan I'm having a drifting issue and I'm thinking that might be why it's drifting right and up on my r3 I'm wondering if the green pieces came loose
That is why what the video is suggesting is a bag idea. Bending it like he does warps the metal so when you put it back, it doesn't fit as snuggly as it is supposed to. It is best to desolder it and remove the whole thing, THEN take it apart as shown.
My controller was drifting to the right every time i pushed up/forward. Sometimes it didn't register at all. I did exactly like in this video. Changed the little sensors and now everything works perfectly :D The hardest part was opening the controller lol. Thank you

I am however not sure I have a spare one that works... Been an annoying journey of discovery, at first the fault was with my left up/down disc and now it's my right left/right disc so I must have some how swapped those two...
i take care of my controllers and keep them clean and covered when i'm not using them ... yet both of my controllers developed the up drift ... so i changed the damaged potentiometer on each one and now they're both good .... it saved me about $150 on new controllers... however, it was a pain in the ass to even open the controllers, they were super tight ... and then removing the green piece without breaking it was not easy as well ... in the end, it was good to learn and how to fix your equipment... but jesus, it's not for the faint of heart
Does it matter which type that small white piece is? Because I bought new ones and they look different (a different model) to the ones originally in my controller and now my controller thinks I havent centered the joystick properly so it drifts in the direction I last pointed it in. Could this be because the different models of the small white piece have a different size slot in the middle and maybe the new type has a slot too large so it only loosely attaches to the joystick, incorrectly reading the movements?
Damn the problem came back now after 5 months of working flawlessly, I tried WD40 again but no luck this time. I'm gonna try to replace those wheels or whatever with a spare I have from a PS2 dualshock, or try to simply clean them with a qtip.
man i had ps3 from the beginning and that dualshock still works unlike my new ps4 joystick have both movement problems. fk it the new ones are more fragile then before
Thank you so much man!, My left stick was not properly registering my inputs, and in Rocket League and Dark Souls 3 that's such a bitch! lol. At first I thought it was my wifi signal interfiring with the dualshock, as bluetooth may use the same channel, but it was this!. Switched the left ones with the right ones (the right stick isn't nearly as important for the games I play) and done, better than new, the funny thing is that the problem didn't transfer to the right stick, and it wasn't dirty or loose xD
My dualshock 4 registers in all direction, but it's finicky, sort of like having spastic tremors. The cursor on screen is jumpy and won't stay steady. I have a video of it on my youtube page, how would i fix this? EDIT: Addendum. Well apparently, it still had to do with the same exact part that is shown in this video. Since I rarely use my right analog stick to do much (I only play sports games), I decided to swap out one of the wheels from the right analog stick and replace the one on the left. Now, it works perfectly. I'll probably just order a part later on. But now that I know it's this white wheel-y thing that's causing the analog problem, I can be prepared for the future. GREAT VIDEO.
In addition, for anyone reading these comments and attempting to surgically repair your DS4, be extra careful about the black/red wires connected to the vibration system on both handles. I unfortunately, accidentally snugged the red and black wire completely off the solder. Not a big issue considering I don't particular like the vibration function.
You guys are station in The Netherlands, Europe. What is the estimated wait to receive these wheels to California, United States? Given their delicacy, how are they packaged? I'll probably put in an order next month or the following month.
Average shipping times for US are around 7 working days. Customs may hold packages but that is rarely the case. These kinda parts are shipped in small bubble wrap envelops. Never had a problem with one of them arriving broken.
Is there any difference between DS4 analog part and Xbox One analog part? I am thinking about swap the whole analog component from Xbox One controller because it feels just better, smaller deadzone and is not to stiff. Thanks for respond!!

i take care of my controllers and keep them clean and covered when i'm not using them ... yet both of my controllers developed the up drift ... so i changed the damaged potentiometer on each one and now they're both good .... it saved me about $150 on new controllers... however, it was a pain in the ass to even open the controllers, they were super tight ... and then removing the green piece without breaking it was not easy as well ... in the end, it was good to learn and how to fix your equipment... but jesus, it's not for the faint of heart
1:09 I broke it :( . Any advice for me or should i buy some new ones off amazon. If I do, how would you replace them?
replace the whole module dude, sodder it
Wooooooooo!! It completely messed up both my controllers good job bud you rock
Thanks for the help ive just played the ww2 beta not being able to sprint and now its finished i did this and i wish i did it before the beta
I used WD-40 on those areas on my DS3 analogs, it fixed the problem.
Damn the problem came back now after 5 months of working flawlessly, I tried WD40 again but no luck this time. I'm gonna try to replace those wheels or whatever with a spare I have from a PS2 dualshock, or try to simply clean them with a qtip.
Here'sJohnny
i just dont fucking understand how this Sprayer fixes sprinting problem
plz Tell me !
Here'sJohnny The reason why it came back is because WD40 leaves behind a residue
Un grand merci 🤝 j’ai réussi 👍👍👍👍👍 grâce a votre vidéo ✅
Can it be used together with Nintendo Switch Joy Pro?🙏🙏🙏
Worked for me, thank you for the video!
Thank u so much I used my PS3 sensor and put it into my right analog and it works perfect
i liked the video and subbed btw
Worked like a charm
man i had ps3 from the beginning and that dualshock still works unlike my new ps4 joystick have both movement problems. fk it the new ones are more fragile then before
Yeah we know, don't know if the material changed but Dualshock 4 has more problems then Dualshock 3
Super helpful🤙🏽
Thanks To you I Saved 60€ , thanks thanks thanks Bro🤞
Good to hear you fixed the problem :)
Thanks for respond!!
thepretiso Havent tried that so cant give any advise on that part.
You saved me! Thank you!
:)
