Here's a hint: get a piece of thread and thread it through the spring like it's a needle. Then tie the thread together into a large, loose loop. That way, when the spring goes flying off into the abyss, you'll be able to find it because it has a thread on it. Once you get it into the right place, just cut the loop and pull the thread off. Also, tweezer pliers were a very big help.
Perfect! I'd watched 3 other videos, and 2 different iFixit guides, and all of them were utterly useless at showing how to reassemble the triggers. Then I found this video, and I had it fixed in 30 seconds. Thank you!
I have long nails so squeezing the spring to get it in the right position was quite difficult, and I found it WAY easier to just place the spring on the peg without any tension and then nudge the top part of it into the groove afterwards to give it tension.
This video was really helpful, the other ones I've checked before didn't have the close up as this one. It allow me to understand where I had to place it, after that it was really easy. It's not in the button but in the enclosure, at least for my model, which seem similar to the one shown here.
Finally put the spring back, I took out more of the controller so it was mainly just the motherboard and the part I need to put the spring in. So the white rod thingy didn’t block my fingers when I placed it. Took an hour to do this when I realized an easier solution compared to yours.
Thank you so much went in to change the micro usb charging port and had to fix the triggers didn't realize springs were in the way putting it back together popped one spring out and kinked another but I got it fixed thanks to you!!
You my good Sir are the MAN! Watched dozens of videos on how to do this but yours was without doubt thee best! All thumbs and likes here. God Bless and have a good one!
TO EVERYONE THAT IS STRUGGLING TO KEEP IT CLASPED IN THEIR FINGERS: Put some sort of glove on - I put a golf glove on and was able to do it first try without it flinging out. Thanks a lot for the tutorial.
Thank you so much after seeing about 3 videos do it wrong, yours actually shed some light into how it was actually supposed to be assembled. Great stuff.
If you're dealing with sweaty hands and fingers, just rip a piece of paper towel, grab and close the spring in and just put it back in place. I did this shit for fucking 3 hours, and triggers work just fine, thank God.
Thank you SO MUCH for making this video. When I opened my controller, the springs sprang out and I had no idea where they belonged or how to put them back in. Your video was excellent, the close-ups were very clear, and I liked your encouragement. You said it was easy and it was! Thanks, I did not have to throw away my $40 controller because of a set of 1-cent springs!!! Thank you!
Thanks for the video. I was used to the older DS4 controllers where changing the springs were easy, this one made me just rage .. next time just buying a new pad.
I just simply can't do it, I've been trying to do it for the past 3 hours. At the moment, my fingers are hurting, red, and I don't really know what to do. You make it seem so easy in the video, but I simply just can't fit it in the L2, I've tried using my thumb and index finger, but nor the left or the right hand works. What am I supposed to do now? Is there somewhere I can contact you, Hoodhippo, so I can show you screenshots of my controller. EDIT: Finally did what he did in the video after 4 hours; so relieved.
It could be he has a different generation controller then you, they’re 4 or 5 generations of controllers I’m pretty sure this is gen 1 or 2,I know it’s not 3 and up tho
Hello today I was trying to fix my analog stick but when opening the controller the r2 and l2 came off and now I can’t but them back on correctly because I think my springs aren’t on how they should be,do you think the controller needs the springs to function properly?
thank you so mych fixed my 6 year old controller that ahs worked in years off of this video nice good on it too the other videos about the springs really suck but this one is aces
i just take a thin strip of duct tape, maybe 2mm wide and wrap the ends close together(loaded), slip it under the little hook and then pull the duct tape right off and it snaps right into place.
The questions is ia spring works like it's been straight from a factory. Because when i did that, trigger was still having not much resistance when i pressed it
Please, please help. I think you may be the "life saver" to my situation. I opened up my ps4 to replace cushion under the arrow buttons. My springs fell out. Iv'e watched countless videos on youtube of how to put the springs back and their videos were good but the problem is that the layout on the backside of the R1/R2 buttons for everyone so far are different than mines. It's been kinda frustrating because I have the same version ps4 and controller of whoever bought their system around the same time as me but the layout is different. When I say help I mean please let me know if the bars on the R1/R2 buttons that you snapped in at 1:49 had plastic filled in under them or not. If they are filled then you have the same version controller as me and this is the right video.
Not sure, but what my other video ruclips.net/video/PLVAgoW9EBY/видео.html hopefully in that video it shows , I just don't remember and don't feel like taking apart my controller lol
@@hoodhippo674 In your other video it's hard to tell but it looks like the bars have plastic filled underneath them. Mines has nothing filled in underneath
i wrecked my controller trying to dissemble it following a tutorial. The springs are both bent and no matter how many tutorials on fixing the l2 r2 buttons I see none of them help with the spring... Can you please help me?
Mine was different too. I put the spring on the actual r2 button (on the piece that clicks it into place on the front part of the controller) and that worked for me
Who else spent their day crawling around on the floor searching for springs?
Me
Bro it's just if you have a second controller that you dont use like mine I will unscrew the spring out
Hahahah
@@pronominal6188 i get your pain

I believe it is a Model CUH-ZCT1U spring, if not then just look at amazon and pray to find the ones that look correct

by clicking in the button over the spring do you need to bend/damage the spring?
Well mine kinda flew out my hand and well it’s gone now so feels bad smh
You can order new ones online buddy

Dumb way of putting it in
Onestop Shop lmao I actually found it surprisingly. I was hella lucky but I ended up getting it in.
Lmao that happened to me and I found it again
To make it even easier, get the tips of the spring under your fingernails if you recently trimmed them. Makes holding the spring much easier.
IT WORKED, you saved me 50 bucks, thanks dude
my favorite video on the internet, thanks man

This video is the best of all, but I broke the plastic mounting piece when taking the controller apart initially. RIP my gaming
SOLUTION: simply route the round opening of the spring along the axel of the button that goes into the mounting post of the control body.
LIFE HACK put a t-shirt on your fingers to take the spring
giovanni topra how u do it
Thanks! You helped me, SO much. I got those on, rather quickly, watching your video. 👍🏾
