Seattle in the early 90's was the coolest place on Earth. The music, the movies, the TV shows, the sports teams. Seattle had magic back then. It's still a great place but cant compare to back then. Truly magical.

I agree. I visited in 2004 summer and you could tell that the Magic you’re speaking of was definitely there in the 90s. I wish I had been able to visit like 10 years earlier. Still, it was a beautiful trip. Also loved the areas north of Seattle.

I lived in Seattle from 1996-2005. Worked for gaming companies as a 3D artist. I started listening to more and more grunge rock and my son was in some hard rock bands. I filmed his shows and got to check out the Seattle vibe. It does become part of your DNA. Loved hearing this story.

This dude has lived the ultimate life as a musician. Toured the world by the time he was 20. Joined a band that was primed to be one of the best ever and achieved total respect as a musician. Then a second chance & has again got great success & has jammed with almost everyone anybody would ever want to jam with. And I heard he's worth 200 million.

I absolutely love this! I lived in downtown Seattle right after high school in 1992. This was so the vibe. Very grungy, Starbucks had barely started up downtown. It was very small town vibe. Walking around downtown with a coffee in the middle of the night, going from basement to basement socials. Birkenstocks and flannels. Lol Oh God! Brings me back! And the rain on the cement. I called it a cement jungle because of all the foliage yet roads and sidewalks everywhere. The lights of the city at night made you think about your life. And just being able to afford a salad ha ha. That was a luxury. I walked pikes street market and remembered getting a croissant and thought this is the life!
Oh and newspapers in Seattle were dated a day ahead. That always threw me off. Totally different world.
Now, it’s a nice place to visit, but I’d never go back. The rain gets to you.

Kurt was a force of nature, and his departure was both untimely and definitely palpable. NIrvana's fame had a momentum of its own, and it's only natural to revisit those places and experiences to try to reach some sort of understanding. You had a real connection with your appreciative fans and hugely influenced the rock scene, which is a great tribute.

Love this SO much... his narrative encapsulates all of us PNW '80s kids who explored Seattle in our fearless 20s, and ate that city for breakfast on the regular. We loved, watched, and supported his (and all the other) up and coming bands that pumped the blood into the heart of Seattle: grunge tunes, and the love that came with it. What an epic, epic adventure, and a killer time to grow into ourselves. Thanks, Dave. #NailedIt #MuchoLove

Lived there for 25 years. The Seattle he's describing, the Seattle from the past is long gone. It's a completely different city now and in many ways, not for the better. It had a vibe and a personality in the past that has been lost. The soul of what Seattle used to feel like is just gone and it's sad.Instead of neighborhoods with character, like Ballard, it's all just been hipster-ized and looks like any other west coast city like San Francisco or Portland. Such a bummer.
