Anita was on top of the world here. In the mid 90s she had no competition- she was loved by the critics and the general public alike. Her voice was well developed and her sound was like no other. Legendary!
This how you know you can sing. When your live version sound better than the recorded song. You deserve to be inductive into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
..and I did it second. As soon as I saw the Body and Soul video in 1995, I went straight to the bathroom✂️...and chopped my hair off until I thought I could be an Anita dup.lol
@@asmith4765 Toni did the demo for "Litve Should Have Brought you Home Last Night" because it was written for Anita Baker. Anita loved Toni's voice so much she told Babyface to let her have the song.
I see how Toni Braxton was greatly influenced by Anita Baker, the hair, so much voice control... not a single note out of tune. This is singing is priceless!
No...This was 1995, Toni was already out since 1992 from the Boomerang soundtrack. Toni's style was a bit different ,with a more sexier vibe and Toni's cut was more sleek and shorter. This was when Anita returned back to the music scene in 1994 with her Rhythm of love album. Toni was influenced by baker, but she totally has her own style!!!💯
I first heard Ms. Baker when I was in high school (1985-1989) and fell in love with her voice, her style and her immense talent. People thought I was nuts - a little white boy from the suburbs - but I identified with her. Still do.
Samuel Conte same here. I took my Mom. I asked her how she like the show. she said she was holding her breathe. her voice was OMG off those walls was just amazing. WE was caught up in the rqpture. every song every note.
Anita Baker is one of my favorite singers .her music hits. Your soul and makes you feel what she singing,❤😊Thankyou for the beautiful music you make.mayGod continue to bless Anita Baker so she can continue to bless the world with her beautiful music and voice ❤😊
@Jacqueline Duncan you're so right. She's truly a legendary classy lady even to today. I have almost every song of hers in my ipod. It's nice to meet you btw and beautiful name.
Goodboy33 HER BODY LOOK EVEN BETTER AFTER PREGNANCY 😃😃😃 THE HOURGLASS FILLED OUT BEAUTIFULLY 😃😃😃 PREGNANCY HAS THAT EFFECT ON MANY WOMEN INCLUDING MY WIFE 😃😃😃 IT PUTS WEIGHT IN THE RIGHT PLACES 😃😃
I was about 8-12 doing this performance. I would always tell my father I wanted to marry her. Today I’m still single. Ms. Baker I’m waiting 😆😆 I’m kidding… I love you so much. Thank you for being a unique artist. Muah!
Auntie was at the top of the game! Fresh off maternity leave with two babies under 3, naturally snatched, killing the airwaves with her eagerly awaited 3rd album after the award-sweeping, runaway success of Rapture!
One of the greatest voices world over in our time, not only was she a spectacular voice on a album but on stage her voice was just as powerful with greater delivery.....This level of legend is missed in today's music.
I was sitting at Catalina Jazz Club in LA w Art Blakey and some of his band during a set break. Catalina (club owner) brought Miss Anita Baker to the table who was very shy to meet the great Art Blakey. Anita was so stunning, so perfectly dressed & groomed & such a lady I was absolutely floored. Pure class from head to toe. She wore a black lace short sleeved shirtwaist belted dress & sheer black stockings and black simple plain matte black silk mid-heel plain pumps. Dang. She was so-o-o-o-o-o-o-o beautiful. She sang one song w the band later & it was so long ago I can't remember what song it was! A Goddess. Period.
When she came out with that hair cut my mom cut her hair just like Anita's. Lol. She had Anita on vinyl. R.I.P Mommy. Those vinyls are how I found out exactly who this legend is.
wen she came to uk in the 80s i saw her and wen she came on stage i had a lump in my throte dont know why the sound was perfect she had the voice of an angel and at the end of the night the crowd would not let her go she must of done ten curtin calls
A billion and one likes and loves I need Anita to release a CD asap :) herself and Sade are just flawless flawbloodyless :) thank you for fantastic music
I always forget about her when thinking of great vocalists. To me it's Anita Baker, Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, Patti Labelle, Dionne Warwick, Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey. Those ladies are on another level and although she wasn't as popular, Taylor Dane is every bit the singer.
Post pregnancy, no auto tune! A voice that can bring tears to your eyes!
This is my favorite Anita performance. The concept of her being in a lounge, the dancers, her look and voice...perfection.
She blessed her own music her soul an ❤💙💜💖moves her while she's singing I love to see her sing her great songs 🎵💕😌❤
Queen of the damn short cut!
Shay Knox Yeah nobody could rock that cut like her. she kept it sharp!
Shay K. Anita and Dionne warwick both queen of the short hair cuts!!!
And they always try to credit this hairstyle to Halle Berry, but Anita rocked it first!
Toni Braxton, too, when she first hit the scene.
Sorry but Toni is the queen of that no hate
OMG! Anita performance ! 🔥🔥🔥
Her dress!! 🔥🔥🔥
The dancers!! 🔥🔥🔥
The musicians!!! 🔥🔥🔥
💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓🌹

Her voice is like sweet cocoa butter! Omg I love this live version! Heaven sent
This how you know you can sing. When your live version sound better than the recorded song. You deserve to be inductive into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Just love me "Body and Soul"
Inducted not inductive.
Right because I rather hear this version than the recorded one 💯
To Kris Jenner: Anita Baker did this look first!
Now I see where Toni Braxton got it from. No shade love them both. But gotta pay homage.

It's bittersweet watching this. As wonderful as this is one can't help but look at the mess that music is today.
Auntie was at the top of the game! Fresh off maternity leave with two babies under 3, naturally snatched, killing the airwaves with her eagerly awaited 3rd album after the award-sweeping, runaway success of Rapture!
She was/is beautiful. I love Anitas music.
There are more powerful voices but her technique, execution and control is unmatched. Her chest tone is GOLDEN
Her voice is plenty powerful though. She could hit high notes like no ones business.
One of the greatest voices to ever grace earth!
Tears coming down my eyes. That's was sooo beautiful
Flawless.
Style, Style and style in every manner. Just a brilliant voice and dancers. No naked skin or bawdy presentation.
