I’m a Chinese guy who was born and raised in Shanghai( a city of China currently lol), I first heard her song in a Uber ride while I was traveling in Chicago back in Sep 2016, and that song was Been so long and then it came sweet love, when I searched her album on Chinese music platforms, guess what? I was able to find all of her albums even including her live tour back in 1987! There are so many of her fans there, and it is a country she might be never visited, but we love her music so much just as everyone else here does!
From Hong Kong and found the “city of China currently” interesting. Anyways, been an Anita fan since 2017, her voice and her music are just impeccable. “Lately” is my favorite. Good to know there are some Chinese guys into Anita✌🏼
Legend. The way her growls and crescendos and swells blend into each other is so unique to her that you can't mistake that voice for anyone else's. It's like a hearing a master horn player completely in their element.
Are you kidding me? This song written by Baker and Sax player Bias is a total celebration of a love song sung beautifully by its originator. It doesn't get any better than this. Performer/singer extraordinaire
Anita Baker is celebrating her 66th birthday today, January 26, 2024. She is an American singer-songwriter known for her soulful ballads, particularly from the height of the Quiet Storm period in the 1980s. Starting her career in the late 1970s with the funk band Chapter 8, Baker released her first solo album, The Songstress, in 1983. In 1986, she rose to fame following the release of her Platinum-selling second album, Rapture, which included the Grammy-winning single "Sweet Love". As of 2017, Baker has won eight Grammy Awards and has four Platinum albums, along with two Gold albums. Baker is a contralto with a wide range of octaves. She was born in Toledo, Ohio on January 26, 1958
I grew up listening to this song. My mom used to play this every Sunday while she smokes and having her morning coffee. It's been four years since her passing, but her memory will be with me always - every time i listen to this song.
Wow, this was impressive. She sings with such emotion and her voice is so strong and striking! I legit wish I could have been at that concert, because even just listening to it with my headphones made me shiver (too bad I couldn't even dream of being born when this happened).
Alexander Stefanov Best thing I have read today. I will have to use this at work. '' one gets the job done , the other is the reference for how the job should be done '' lol
Francisco, So true. Over the years I have noticed that even the best videos receive a 40 to 1 like to dislike rating. Some people just like being negative. I realize that no performer appeals to everyone. But, why would someone who does not like Anita Baker take the time to give a dislike rating to this performance? Who knows. Just thank your lucky stars that you are not one of those people and just continue to enjoy outstanding performances like this one.
This fabulous lady should have been put in a love and drama movie just so I could watch it over and over and over and over again and again and a.......
My dad use to drive a charter bus and I remember him playing this and the people told him to turn it up and when he stopped to pay the toll the lady in the tollbooth said you got that bus jamming! RIP pop I miss you man...
My, my, my. From the time back in ‘86 when I first heard this masterpiece on the radio as a 25 yr old to this very day; I still get chills running down my spine and through out my whole body whenever I listen to Anita Baker singing “Sweet love “. Every song on this masterpiece is just sooooo gooood. ❤️
This lady is incredibly good to both listen and watch! Pure artistry. She LIVES in what she sings. I remember listening tapes with her songs while driving, hardly catching up traffic lights change, being mesmerized by her voice.
I remember when I saw her at Wolf Trap in Vienna, VA in July 1990, and she opened the show with Sweet Love. She came flouncing down a small staircase in a big pink dress that had to weigh as much as she did, and we all just DIED at the style and flair she displayed. OMG!
My mother is crazier than hell, but one thing she always provides us kids with was great music like this from Anita Baker. I was born in 91 and this is one of my all time favorites. Without my mom I wouldn’t never know this even existed but when I do hear it, I think of my mother and I will always love that.
This is the best thing mothers can give their children, love and music. I would have been happy if my mother had heard such music. Greetings from Heidelberg / Germany

My favorite Soul Jazz singer Anita Baker way back 1980's till now 2022. All her songs and albums is the best to listen for relaxation 😍🙂😘 always lovin it.
I know I’ve said this before on here but it bears repeating. Her 1986 Rapture album is one of the best albums ever made. Not one bad song on the whole album. It’s the kind of album that you just put it on and press play. You don’t have to fast forward or skip a song. It’s a masterpiece sung by the great Anita Baker.

I just watched Beyoncé's rendition before this one, and I gotta say, this, or rather Anita, is the best!
I agree. Beyonce's rendition was good but she can't compare to Anita Baker. Not by a long shot.
