Love! Love! Love Anita Baker....as a very young child my parents played her music in our home where we normally heard classical and jazz music and we all played some form of an instrument. My dad always thought she was such a classy singer and they often when to her concerts in the Detroit area when possible. As I grew older and began to choose my own genre of music it became clear to me as to why she was so strongly loved and respected in the R & B industry. What a beautiful and great voice which such strong and meaningful words to her songs. I will forever be a huge fan of Miss Baker.

OMG - that was awesome. This is my favorite song of hers and I think I've watched all of the live versions available on RUclips. They're all great - but different. This one is my favorite. Those of you that know the song also know that the last third or so of the song is when she deftly ramps it up - which leads to her really opening up her voice. The ending notes are just killer.

If you look up on google it is said she is a mezzo but her tone is of a lyric contralto, just like Toni. Mezzos sound a bit higher and creamy.
