I love how Ys 1 uses silver as a plot point. Even back in the 80s they put a lot of thought into developing the world and the fact that all the silver ends up being stolen is cool detail. Like I mentioned prior the older versions of this game notably the TG16 version are much easier and in that version you can go beyond Level 10. Sorry I’m out of Dark Facts… so I’m gonna go home now.
this video got me to try Ys 1 and i ended up beating Dark Fact on my 6th or 7th attempt i was shocked at how fast i beat him after watching this video played on normal, and was my first time playing a Ys game as well
Man, you have the patience of a saint to have died that many times to win that fight. Wonder how you would like Ys Origins; the prequel to the first game. Its a lot more modern.
@@weaponsci This is a bit of a tricky question. I suppose it comes down to if you want to play the games in release order (1-2-6-3-Origin-7-4-8-9) to experience the improvements in the franchise, or if you want story order (1-2-Origin-4-3-6-7-8-9). Origin is connected to 1 and 2 so there are benefits to playing it ASAP, but nothing so major as to make it imperative to do.
@weaponsci I recommend to do it before, it's such a cool prequel game to these two. It uses knowledge from them super well and also enhance the story of the first two
@@weaponsci Assuming you're planning on playing the remake of 3 (The Oath in Felghana), I would recommend Origin first as they both use the same combat engine and Origin builds directly off of 1/2's story. That said, Origin did technically come out after the 3 remake, so either works.
I sadly missed the second stream. But wow, almost 5 hours and over 200 deaths. Impressive. And it only took you 4 hours. Thank goodness you did not play Nightmare. Nightmare would have been pain. So much pain. Normal alone was almost 4 hours of pure pain. I am so glad I didn't take so long. I might have given up or worse. But I did take a lot of time to practice the dash jump in Ys 6. I finally got the hang of it. It did take an entire level though. I killed the same 2 monsters so many times just to get to that chest. There was another I didn't get to though. And it is very hard to get there. I might do it again later though. I am too stubborn to let up now. I hope you enjoy Ys 2 though, weapons. The bosses are a lot less shitty and you can grind to much higher levels. I think you'll like it. And you can do very fun things. Enjoy when you get there.
Not sure how weapons enjoys difficulty settings and such. But YS2 is something I suggest on hard if you played 1 on normal. YS2 is in fact harder than ys1 for non-boss content, so it will punish you more overall throught the game, but the bosses themselves... they'll kill you faster for screwing up for sure, but unlike ys1, they aren't about ignoring their attacks and killing them, they're actually about dodging their attacks, which are, in fact, dodgeable, and beating them. So they're actually easier (minus the ys1 mantis boss, which is just cake, the work, also cake, and the sorcerer, which is just patience testing). If he plays ys2 on normal, I will still enjoy watching without complaint though =).
Beating Dark Fact is the basis of my infinite patience and cool head when fighting boss battles in action RPGs, he single handedly ate all my rage.
My Favorite Screensaver.

Give me some Light Opinions
A shame you just missed out on the secret ending that requires you to win after exactly 200 deaths.

I'm fairly sure this guy holds my all time rage quit record even after all these years 😂

Watching you fight this dumbass boss was a lot of fun. Thank you for sharing your experience.

Looking forward to it. Would you recommend it before or after Ys3?
