What I never realized as a child was that it is a localization of a videogame based on a sentai called "Super Rescue Solbrain" I have been meaning to watch that show but fifty something episodes and who has the time?
The Legendary Mike Matei! Man, I Miss you so much on Cinemassacre. You and James had really the best chemistry I have ever seen, such a pitty!!! Mike, could you please play Solstice for the NES for once? It's really one of the most mysterious games on earth.. i have so much great memories with that game. Anyways, it's always great seeing you posting video's!
To get to Shatner Land, you have to travel by plane. William Shatner sits in the seat next to you and warns you if there is some... THING, out there on the wing ✈️
When I started collecting for the NES this was one of the first games I picked up, had no idea what it was but it was cheap at a car boot.... what a gem!
This is an amazing game, I still have it from my childhood, too. It's quite hard but not too-too hard not to get me playing from time and time again. BTW mike the collectable symbol boxes are alfa and beta, not an L haha.
soundtrack is energetic. pixels are clean and clear. hit detection looks amazing. controlls look alittle stiff but im sure once its adjusted to you have controll in a way that is natural. everythign about this game looks amazing...EXCEPT the robot powerups. when you get a powerup you either have to learn to use the powerup and have two hitboxes and attack points... i saw speedruns ov this and i think they have the right idea. get the robot only to get the super suit and just punch drunk things
There’s something interesting going on with the localization for Jaleco games. Those games always get an awful cover art (Tokkyuu Shirei Solbrain if someone was wondering this is the original name) in this case it was game for a sort of Japanese live action hero like Kamen Raider or Power Ranger that looked like robot. It’s just something curious the other Jaleco games I like for the SNES is Rival Turf, Brawl Brothers and Peace Keepers again I don’t know why they split the franchise as standalone games in Japan they are just Rushing Beat 1 to 3.
I remember playing it 20 years ago on a famiclone because that was all we had. It was the japanese version where you play as a cyborg robocop dude. The soundtrack and post dystopian atmosphere were great, the robot minions were awesome and the control was perfect too.
I loved it. I'm sure the "Skywalker" cretonne that continues to make those comments is absolutely amazing, has to throw women off him , and just an all around legendary cool person.
Oh my God, these were actual games I never had a chance to play! I'm 38 now, God I missed so much... :( All we had were TMNT, Chip and Dale, Duck Tales and maybe Ninja Gaiden.
I always play the stages in this game in alphabetical order; this seems to be a good increase in difficulty, and it also feels like a good stage order in general. Even the music tracks for the stages sound good in that order.
Great playthrough Mike! Reminds me a tiny bit of Kabuki Quantum Fighter which I think you also played through right? Also, I miss Wawa so much. All we have here in Northeast PA are Sheetz and Turkey Hill.
No full stream? (I did check the description) The one on twitch is 4 hours, or was it other games?? Edit- it's TWO streams of this on twitch! You're holding out, I'm going to watch on twitch, hopefully you get some ad revenue there too
Hey Mike would you check out (cathedral) for Nintendo switch its a retro nes style game thats pretty damn tough but is really good, think you would love it as its really tough too
Hey mike, i know you moved on but we miss your creativity in avgn channel ... Without you, james alone cant save the channel with two uninteresting dudes that sinking the channel anymore.. hope u comeback
Another early 90s release that gets lost in the shuffle that's gets overlooked that may be one of the best releases of that era of nes the system had three eras the black box era 85-87 then u have the golden era 87-90 some of the greatest games and franchises are created nes dominated then 91-94 the end of era kind of gets lost but some of the best games are in that era
I hate RL sometimes: work and being away for a short weekend vacation made me miss 3 Mike lifestreams in which he also played through 3 games >:( Oh well, seeing this reminds whether you will also upload your playthrough of the Japanese Famicom version which you did in the first stream that I missed if I remember right (Tokkyu Shirei Solbrain)? BTW, some useless trivia: the Famicom game was based on a Japanese tokusatsu show which a part of the Metal Heroes subgenre (think Power Rangers except in metal armor instead of spandex). Here's the 1:30 min intro of the show (could only find the latino version though): ruclips.net/video/_cWFd9Zb9w8/видео.html
This game has such a GOD TIER soundtrack
One of the coolest and most underappreciated NES games. Absolutely solid game. It's up there with one of my personal favorites.
The AVGN cover art episode got me thinking it’s a bad game - but it looks dope!
Its absolutely one of the best. Love it.
What I never realized as a child was that it is a localization of a videogame based on a sentai called "Super Rescue Solbrain"

I'm surprised I didn't hear of it earlier before this stream. Just dropped below the radar.

Been waiting for this one.thanks mike!
Misread the title as "Shatner Land", now feeling unprecedented levels of disappointment.
Be disappointed in yourself. You're illiterate.
@@Sandman_Slim The sad yet hilarious thing is that you are doubtless blissfully unaware of the stratospheric levels of irony in your comment.
@@daveb1930 Wow. Your so cool for misreading a title and then commenting about it... I bet you are king chad in your hood.
I’m sorry its not Shatner Land. As much as I love Shatterhand.

Credit to me for showing Mike the secret life refill near the end 😎🔥🕷
When I started collecting for the NES this was one of the first games I picked up, had no idea what it was but it was cheap at a car boot.... what a gem!
One of my favorite nes games ever! Glad to see you make it back to it after getting to the last level on the previous stream of it (2 yrs ago).
I used to own this game back in the 90's! One of the coolest NES games
One of my favorites! Beat the game last year, finally after quarter of a century playing it! hahaha
shatterhand rocks. one of my favorites on the NES.

Aw yeah, I love this game! And the box art looks like Al Bundy from Married With Children.
😅👍👍
A😤😤43
I want to return the fist bump that the guy on the box art is giving me.
SUP, BRO!!!
Mike saw ur channel loved it subscribed miss those days with AVGN ur videos are excellent keep it up
The letters are alpha and beta, not l and b lol.
Absolutely loving the podcast Mike!👏👍👍

I can't believe I've not seen this is looks great.
Great megaman/blaster master vibe in this one.
You made it look easy as always! Great video
Hey Mike! Love the channel. Hello from Iowa
George: "You can't break up with me! I've got (Shatter) hand!"
"and you're gonna need it!"
I love games that have stage select like this one or Elemental Master, that way if you get stuck, you can do another and come back later.
i love this game, arent those letters alpha beta gamma or something and not L and B etc?
I was so happy to see this comment.
The alpha is drawn weird, but I'm confident that's what it is.
it's not drawn weird that's how lowercase alpha is traditionally drawn

Yeah I played the Famicom version as well. It's very similar.
Games awesome have you ever played time diver eon man...its awesome I was just playing it yesterday thanks again mike because its just like this
Nice video!
Been waiting to see you play this game since the AVGN episode 💯
bruh the hay is for horses rant had me rolling
I loved it. I'm sure the "Skywalker" cretonne that continues to make those comments is absolutely amazing, has to throw women off him , and just an all around legendary cool person.
This game looks fun as hell!
When are you going to do a full stream of Street Fighter 2010: The Final Fight (NES)?
I had this game but sold it last year and used the money towards purchasing a MiSTer FPGA. The ultimate in retro game hardware.
Great game❤
One of my favs
Like how Mike has the Wawa coffee.
And yes, for those not living in the US, that's what it's called, Wawa.
Hold down and A to use the satellite robot as a lift
You made it well done hopefully when ever get a chance to go back to snes games that you never played before 👌
Oh my God, these were actual games I never had a chance to play! I'm 38 now, God I missed so much... :( All we had were TMNT, Chip and Dale, Duck Tales and maybe Ninja Gaiden.
Those are all good games... for the most part
Strange you do not hear more about this game actually looks like a good game
It was released in 1991, so it was a fairly late game.
Those are some serious 80s shades on that cover, holy shit.
The game doesn't matter Mike, if you're gaming I want to watch
I always play the stages in this game in alphabetical order;
this seems to be a good increase in difficulty, and it also feels like a good stage order in general.
Even the music tracks for the stages sound good in that order.
All hail the most radical/misleading box art of all time
He should have on the red vest like in the game
great stream mike im looking forward to ghostbusters 2 on nes next!
if i could only hear audio i would think you were playing TMNT nes
Great playthrough Mike! Reminds me a tiny bit of Kabuki Quantum Fighter which I think you also played through right?
Also, I miss Wawa so much. All we have here in Northeast PA are Sheetz and Turkey Hill.
Modern Shatterhand would be a first person brawler with fully destructible environments.
I swear everytime I see the box art for this game I think it's Darrell Waltrip. Boogity boogity boogity!
shatterhand is an awesome games, just like power blade 1 and 2
Personally I prefer the BBB drone. Less of a chance to hit but it packs a punch and its grenades have a little area effect to mitigate near misses.
bbb was good too
I only played the japanese version, and a bit of the US version. Although that was a beta version.
No full stream? (I did check the description)

Edit- it's TWO streams of this on twitch! You're holding out, I'm going to watch on twitch, hopefully you get some ad revenue there too
Its not that i’m holding out, so much that I want people to see the runs where I actually complete the games.
@@mikematei oh okay that makes sense, thanks.
Am I nuts? I swear you've played through this before
I have. But I didn't complete it last time. This is a complete run.

I love Famicom version more
Fun game
When you have the droid, press down + A
You can also _throw_ the droid at enemies if you press the B-button while you are flying.
I bought this game a while back at a con and it was a rip cop of Alf .
Avgn has to review this at some point.....
Yeah this game never gets old, i wouldn't mind seeing an HD remake of Shatterhand.
They'd probably ruin it.
Hey Mike would you check out (cathedral) for Nintendo switch its a retro nes style game thats pretty damn tough but is really good, think you would love it as its really tough too

I miss James and Honkin Hog Mike Mondays
Is that because of the rumor that Mike has a giant hog lol

It would be nice to see your own sketches. But maybe you are not into that anymore, it's understandable.
