I feel the same about street skating and the anxiety doesn't usually hit me until I actually arrive at the spot, at which point I try to attract as little attention as possible or just leave and go to a park instead. On the few occasions I have had the confidence to do it, the anxiety is gone after the first trick and I'm having fun without a care! Street skating does satisfy the creative spark in me however and now the weather is improving (and once I'm fully healed) I plan to do it more! Sorry to hear about your dog, but I'm glad you found skateboarding again 💪
It's definitely more of like a mission going street skating. I mostly skate alone, so it would probably be more fun with a small crew to hype each other up and not feel so on display. As an adult, I now care a lot more about inconveniecning people, so I hate the idea that I'm bothering people right? I'm going to keep at it though. And holy moly am I ever happy I found skateboarding again as well. It was waiting patiently for me the entire time I think.
And I do! We had eleven amazing years of swimming and hiking and adventuring together. He was never hungry or scared or lonely. It was a beautiful life! Thanks for the kind words dude 🙏
Great video thanks for sharing and sorry for your loss. Yes skateboarding is always a great place for anyone going through tougher times. Good to know it has helped you along the way. Too bad it started raining..was looking forward to more street schralping
Hey thanks for your kind words! It was rough but we had a wonderful life together and I'll remember him always. Yeah it's humid season so the rain was needed!
I dig it man. Been doing jiu jitsu for 5 years now and that was the best cure for my mental and physical health. However, getting into skateboarding now and can't wait to learn something new. All the best - great videos.
Right on - skateboarding has gotten me through some very tough times as well. I don’t know why playing with a plank of wood on wheels is so therapeutic but it just is. So sorry to hear about your pup - one of the worst decisions to have to make. Sounds like you did the right thing. And congrats on your two new pooches!
Thanks, dude! I totally agree. It's funny how a toy can connect us so deeply with ourselves. The sound, the speed, the wind in my face, and the feeling of landing a trick-it's one of the most satisfying feelings ever. Skateboarding keeps us in touch with our younger selves-I still feel like a 13-year-old when I skate. Except now, I can tell that 13-year-old everything's going to be okay. Fun stuff. The dogs are wonderful; Reilly (aka Starfox) and Jonesy (aka Goldeneye) are both super fun and well behaved dogs. Love them so much.
Skateboarding is my pressure release valve... and thanks for sharing, life can be difficult and seeing/hearing about the more challenging situations is important... i could start watching videos right now that only make me happy and feel nothing else, i could probably do that nonstop till i go over the rainbow bridge... but if all you know is happiness then its no longer happiness it just is. Gotta have the hard times so you know how good the good times are... love your channel and p.s. my backyard mini is almost done 🤏
Honestly, his passing was hard, but I knew it would happen someday. An odd thing happened too, I grew spiritiually, and realized how much my heart and capacity for love had grown in the eleven years we had together. So I lost a little piece of my heart when he passed, but it's still much larger than it was before him. We save pets twice. Once from lonliness, then a second time from suffering. Taking care of him was one of my life's greatest pleasures and honors and I'll remember him forever. Really appreciate the kind words dude. Also - very stoked to see the backyard mini! You're about to unlock some serious skills!
Great video. Letting go of your furry friend absolutely sucks. I feel you, lost three cats myself and it still hurts the same after years... Changing topic, I have mixed feelings about sliding on wood benches and such - they get shredded much more quickly and I don't want to break shit too much :p
Hey thanks for your kind words! I agree with you about the benches, I definitely did leave a couple of marks and I kinda feel bad. That's one of the main reasons I don't really skate street, I don't want to break or damage anything, or become a burden down the line to whatever city worker might need to fix what I skated. I'm an adult now, so it's respect for others above my own skate rat desires. Thanks for watching!
I'm really sorry to hear that friend. Give it time and your sadness will turn into happy memories. They really make our lives special. Nice call on learning to skate! Do you have a park or nice concrete near you?
@@skate_oasis yeah, I'm in the UK and have a couple of nice skate parks near me. So far, I've been a bit cowardly about going, I think I want to get through the worst of the newbie stage without too many eyes on me... I've been spending more time on research and getting my setup right than actually skating, which I know is the wrong way around... I've got a nice rig now, so no more excuses, I just gotta put the hours in. In the morning. When no one's looking.

Enjoying your videos mate really down to earth and humble. Tis motivating me to jump on the bosrd again. Keep it up
Hey thanks for the kind words! You have no idea how happy you’d make me if you did 😉
Wide board and soft wheels!
Stay rad friend 🤙
I lost my soul dog a few weeks ago. My response has been to learn skateboarding at age 37.
Like your vibes, bro. Sub.

In skateparks i rid3 the xlassic 99a, the new foroulas of bones or powell, are designed for nasty streets
99a is a glorious duro for smooth parks - so fast! I’m riding some larger and slightly softer wheels lately for some added comfort
