As someone who just moved to the area and has been watching your videos since 2015 I literally thrive watching your videos for new spots and stuff in the dfw
11:10 hell of a landing John. Interesting how every building seems to have security to run skateboarders off, it’s a shame. Also sad to see the homelessness but it’s a reality until this country addresses mental health and other issues. Great video!
I remember growing up skating & stuff. I feel like I had this one friend who tried stuff he was never ever going to land bc he wasn’t as good as he thought he was. And I was a filmer so for me it was pretty frustrating back then. Especially with having tapes and everything. I wish I had friends like you & your skill level growing up. You have such a good attitude too with skating. The ppl I knew thought they were better than everyone all the time. It was weird.
my Texas family members got really defensive when I informed them that Dallas was a dump. I'm not surprised you were sketched out. you need to roll around strapped if you're gonna go filming there. it's an open carry state. I know it seems extreme but so many people there are either packing heat or are mentally unwell. .380 is a good self defense caliber. one love
The white building (w/ stairs) on the left side in the shot at 2:17 is the former Dallas City Hall/Police Headquarters. It was in the basement of that building where Jack Ruby murdered Lee Harvey Oswald as he was being escorted to an armored vehicle for transportation to the county jail, two days after Oswald was accused of the assassination of President JFK.
Been a fan since the glass wheels video. Good to come back and see you're still bringing quality skateboarding content years later. Much love and respect john.
I'll always love Dallas💖 It can be a scary place, but as with most things in life, dealing with a little danger leads to good things. Glad you stayed safe pardner🤠
Hi! You handled the aggressor perfectly! You skillfully avoided confrontation and prevented violence! That's a real win! This is what noble people do. Be healthy and God bless you!
Bro this brought back so many memories of skating downtown with the homies. We used to go to Eisenbergs skatepark in plano and take the train downtown and skate there all day while our parents thought we were at Eisenbergs!
Yea man I always tell myself life has already sorted us out to a degree so if someone gets to me I think they probably have their own issues and usually end up just moving on quickly sometimes I get caught up as we do but for the most part it helps to keep me positive
You have no idea how much it messes with my head to see you skate that six stair with that arch, I was visiting Dallas just a month ago to see my girlfriend and I took a picture there, crazy seeing it in one of your videos, love your stuff man
I’ve watched a couple of your videos since I drove you home from DFW the other night. When you told me your channel and I looked and saw how big it is, blew me away and is cool to have met a normal guy but who is that popular! Now I just need you to teach a 50 year old how to skateboard haha
My dream is to see John Hill during a skate sesh. I just want to scream, "KEEP KILLIN IIIT!" then just let the man be. Thanks for the great content and inspiration to get me out there and find new spots to skate. Hope to see you skate anywhere in Houston again.♥
I had personal experience with this and talked to a few cops about that. Yes it’s a nice way to say stop. Not only that but when is was driving I was going a bit fast but because I was aware of surroundings I moved over but noticed the cop was still in the left lane just behind me watching but I stayed under the limit and they passed me later.
Hello John👋🏽 💯🤗 Awesome video I really enjoy this! You kill it bro and I’m hyped! Thanks. I feel you on this topic👌🏽 And I like skating DT spots as well.
I feel this hard, I was in San Antonio filming at a ledge by the river and somebody grabbed my cell phone and took off on a bicycle and I had to grab the camera, skate full speed after him and physically confront the dude to get my phone.
I was born and raised in Dallas I moved away close to my teen years but I never saw this side of Dallas even going through downtown I never saw this side The fact that I never even started skating until I was 17
Dude I had the shittiest session today, it was like I forgot how to kickflip or something. I landed only a handful, I was high key bummed. Watching your vids always helps me feel better though, very humbel and professional. Switch is the devil though, I refuse to touch it lol
Word to the wise re: your interaction with the guy trying to get a light: Don't let sympathy, generosity, or a sense of nobility get you in trouble. Don't ever get within arm's reach of a stranger in a situation like that. Homelessness, crime, drugs, mental illness, and violence can swirl together in a sad, ugly stew, especially in city centers, and you can find yourself robbed or attacked in a heartbeat.
Bro if you want some company skating downtown on a Sunday I’ll go out with you. I can really only cruise these days. But I do photography and would love to shoot some stills of you skating. I’ve always thought about skating all these spots when walking around.
I always used to prefer street skating even with friends but as an adult alone I’m always worried about getting bothered or charged/a ticket. Luckily there’s a good small park in my area but prefer to go when it’s empty since most there are teens with bmx or scooter kids. Back in another city when younger I was encouraged & taught to go down big ramps by an older skater tho
A similar thing happened to bridge spot in DC, dope DIY ramps under a bridge 10-15 years ago, homeless encampment now. Sad to lose an awesome DIY skate spot like that, obviously even sadder that homelessness is even a thing of course.
It’s sad that people can’t just leave others alone in big cities. I live outside STL and not only will I not skate the city anymore, I won’t even go there to eat, festivals or ball games. To sketchy, easily robbed or worse.
I thought this was about to be a literal list of reasons to not skate alone lol Good video, man. Much love from Seeeeattle. That sucks about that homeless encampment. Why are dare people living out in da streets? God damn that’s lame. I think I’m dumb, sorry about the comment.
If the cops don’t say anything I skate until they do. You’re style of dealing with people is great. Stay mellow and de escalate. Good strategy. That said you should do like me and be prepared for anything just in case. Train practical martial arts to the point that only another trained fighter or a very lucky punch is going to be a problem. Then do whatever you need to do in your state to be able to carry a weapon, get trained and carry everywhere. You already do in a way but the fact is that a skateboard is actually a terrible weapon for a number of reasons. I think you said you were in Texas? All you need there (and most states actually) is to attain the age of 18 and have a clean record. It can be a pain to skate with a weapon but with a compact and the right holster it can be done. It’s one of the few cases where an Urban Carry Holster makes sense. Even a basic kydex holster is doable. I’ve skated that way with no issues. I still prefer a group but If I have no one to skate with I still skate where I want.
I don't know who does the editing, but props to them because I love how the skating and music sync up really well with one another!
I think he does it himself
it's me, thank you!
Yeah he's really good at making videos. Props, John
Been doing it for years tbh

Dude... fully committing to a 360 flip on a small rock like you did at 3:14 holy moly that is scary lol. Props and much love keep up the videos
4:37 it's so nice how the pop and the landing sync up with the music! Super satisfying

I love your style. I prefer smooth skating over crazy flip tricks and big air. It is just so smooth and satisfying

0:06 bro i like how jhon is so calm john could f that man up but decided to not respect💪
I enjoy watching your videos. And that Nollie flip felt so good because it was absolutely perfect. Everything about it was textbook. Good stuff!
The downtown/plaza footage is so much more appealing than the skatepark stuff
In a lot of those Urban environments, the people don't see a skateboarder, they see an opportunity.
Yo my dude been watching your videos since you started , so glad to see you still doing your thang. Keep it up dawwg 🤘
I hate that one of the hardest parts of skating is dealing with other people, great video!

Filming ourselves while skating, doesn't feel as alone though, somehow.
But skating alone without filming takes a lot of motivation I find.
I have seen you one time at double decker in Fayetteville, North Carolina so many years back. Been watching you forever

i could not do this where i live hahaha im getting robbed of all my stuff, such a dope edit right here for real.
John keep up the great work
when u see security kicking you out you have to use Talk no Jutsu. Cant argue with that one
Dude, this is so true!
The only thing dangerous about skating alone is getting severely hurt and not having a buddy to help you out and help you get back to your car.
If you ever film a downtown edit of San Antonio I got you 🤘🏽on some spots/skating/guide
dude you so beast, you should do a video where you show how you commit to skating stairs!!!!!!!!!
these videos never get old
it's rough for skaters out here in dallas
1:28 made me laugh so hard lmao
we bmx dudes waxed most of those ledges that you said slide so well ps i use metal pegs
Haha this exact same thing happened to me at a skate park in W Oakland. It’s an encampment now.
Always feel like im doing something wrong street skating alone, even with someone it can. It sucks, I wish I didnt give a shit so much.
If you are looking for the skate culture in Dallas, there is none. Especially moving from California, the skate Mecca of the world.
