Learn to BEANPLANT The Easiest Way! Amazing Old-School Skateboarding Trick!
Hey merry Christmas my friend!
You make it look simple and steezy bro! Happy holidays to you wife and puppers....
Hi, thanks for the fantastic review! Have you had a chance to test out the Dragon 88a ? I would love to hear how the Dragon 88a compares with the 93a you've been riding. Cheers
Hey, thanks for the comment! I’m stoked you liked it. I haven’t tried those wheels yet, but I did ride a set of OJ Super Juice wheels in 87a this summer for a few months. I really liked them, but they felt a bit slower compared to my Dragons. Since I’m usually skating smooth parks or my mini ramp, I don’t really need softer wheels most of the time. That said, I’m planning to set up a crusty street spot board next summer because my friends and I are starting a full-length project. For that setup, I’ll definitely be looking for a slightly softer wheel. If you end up trying them, let me know what you think! Happy holidays, my friend, and stay rad!
So glad I found this channel. As a new skater very inspiring!
I’m so glad you’re enjoying it!!!
Hi man i need some help, im getting a few sheets of 2x4ft plywood sheets, will this be ok for the middle part of ramp like transition. Im not sure if it will be too small. Thanks
For a ramp this size that should work just fine!
One of my favorite tricks
Same here! It actually really trips me out that I've got it in my bag now. I have a couple of nice local 3' and 4' quarter pipes I'm planning on taking this to in the spring!
Hey Will, I’ve heard mixed things about this board that it isn’t a good at tricks as a normal popsicle, but can it still do complex tricks if you get used to it?
I would say that is largely accurate. The smaller nose, wider tail and shape, and added weight of a larger board all contribute to making it a bit harder to flip and pop. There are some pros who skate shapes like this (Chris Hiett for one, who skates a Powell Saiz shape) and he seems to have zero issue with nollie tricks or flip tricks in general. I'm not much of a flip tricker, I do the occasional kickflips and heelflips fine. If you're focused on flip tricks, I wouldn't suggest a big shaped board but lots of people do ride them. Thanks for your comment!
So fucking stylish dude
YOU'RE stylish ;) thanks!
@skate_oasis you also ride bowl?
Look hideous. Like the first ever truck made.
I like it’s mid century modern aesthetic - but I get where you’re coming from
Rad vid! thanks. Which wheels are you using in this setup?
Hey thanks 🙏 these are speedlab 57mm 60a wheels
You are an unappreciated gem in the world of RUclips skaters. Why you aren't blowing up is beyond me. Anyway, keep on doing what you do and we'll keep on watching.
Hey dude. I really appreciate that. I'm okay not blowing up lol as long as folks like you enjoy my videos :) It's anot about how many people see them, but who sees them and resonates with them. Thanks again Ben! Stay RAD!
@skate_oasis well it definitely resonates with me and seeing you try to be your real self definitely inspires me to do the same on my channel.
Bro I have the same board as you, except it’s the night fox graphic
Nice! I've got a Night Fox just waiting in my closet for this one to be done! If you want to pick youself up another Landyachtz use my code 'Skateoasis10' for 10% off! Thanks for watching and commenting dude!
ive been thinking about this one for a rlly long time but never started to learn it lol. i guess that i need to try it out
You’ve absolutley got this!
underrated
We're still in the underground, scrappy indie-band phase ;)
What was that 360 switchblade grab type trick
Good question! Lol I don't know if it actually has a name!
Who told you that dude? I’m like super young and hip.
You're NOT TOO OLD!!!
You looking thinner in the face bro
Wife and I cleaned up our diets like crazy this summer, I've actually dropped like 15lbs. Feeling very light and springy these days!
Nice man. I'm trying to lose 10 or 15 myself
Great video Will, wish you merry xmas greetings from Sweden. Always fun to watch your channel, big up bro. Take Care man.
Merry Christmas to you too!
@@skate_oasis Thanks you!
lol dude i hope this video finds some random grandma and compel her to go buy her grandkids some Shake Junt abec 5's 😂😂
Rad
Great one Will. I really like this "cruising" old school decks more then regular old shape, because of the nose. I think I already have too many boards, but + one ATVX Dicht Life won't hurt, isn't?
Especially if you use code ‘SKATEOASIS10’ for 10% off 😉 I also really love cruisy big old school shapes like this
I gotta practice these again. I thought they was called can openers though
They probably are lol. Skate tricks, especially ones that are like "old-school" or whatever, have soooo many different names lol. Skateboarding definitely has its own regional dialects
@skate_oasis and sometimes names change over time. Like when treflip was still called 360 kickflip.
And socks and shoes are optional
Absolutely!
What size dragons using ?
Those are the 56mm dragons, I like a slightly larger wheel
@@skate_oasis Any the new soft/slide wheels recommenD ? I was looking at bones x formula and spitfire doing one also and then the ricta clouds XD
Creative tricks keep this sport interesting! Sickkkkk
Thanks! And I agree!
Ayyoo.. I have to learn that
You definitely can! I like to film tricks close up like this so they can be studied lol. Let me know how it goes!
How to win a game of skate 101 🤣
😂 always have to go over rules beforehand
sick mini dude, what's the dimentions if you don't mind me asking
Absolutely! It’s 2’ high, 8’ wide, with about 7.5’ of flat. About 21’ long total including 3’ decks. 6’ radius. Super fun and mellow ramp!
Nobody can know my next move because I don’t even know my next move!
It do what it do baby
Great vid!🤙🤙 Quick question, how much flat does your ramp have?
Hey dude! The ramp has about 7'-6" of flat bottom. It's pretty quick.
I always go back hand to front hand. I’ll try it this way. Looks smoother
I started doing seatbelt style because I liked how it looked NGL. I find it a bit smoother but using both hands is legit too!
I have trouble committing to jumping back on... yours are looking nice bro
That part is really tough. I'd practice that part on the ground a lot, the other option is to go to tail and drop in before just sweeping over the coping and jumping! You've got this!
Great video, perfect advice for beginners
Thanks dude! I’ve got more stuff like this on the way.
Try fs indy they are cool too and you can make them very consistent
I love frontside airs too! I’ll do a tutorial for those soon! Thanks for your comment 🙏
Loving these tutorials bro keep em coming 💪
I will! I really like making them!
is that in the Mile End Area? Cool spot!
I believe so! It was such a great skatepark, met some really rad skaters and bikers and had a great time!
Damn I'd love a blunt tip video... blunt to rock looks so sick
I'll keep that in mind!
Can you share the specs maybe even links for the board set up you are using in this video?
Absolutley! The deck is a Landyachtz Ditch Life ATV-X. 9.75x31 with a 15” wheelbase and a really excellent shape! I’m an ambassador for them and if you’d like to get anything they sell you can use the code Skateoasis10 for 10% off. Trucks are the new Lurpiv 2.0s in the 160mm size. Wheels are Speedlabs 57mm/97a ‘Octo’ offset wheels - also awesome. And the bearings are Blast Skates interstellar alien bearings. Let me know if I can help!
Heck you brother. It's all about the feeling of the cruise. I ride 80s reissues with big 61mm wheels. The cruise first and whatever tricks i can do with it is fine by me
Heck yeah dude! I've come to enjoy skateboarding in all it's genres!
Wow. what a great video and product review. Lurpiv trucks. hmm. the look a lot like the stage 1 Independent skateboard trucks from the late 1970´s.( I started in 1977)You are so easy to follow even if me as not a natural english speaking person as such. keep em great videos coming.ps your number of subscribers just went up with "This guy". just subscribed.
just a fun fact. I feel kind of grateful and a slight sense of pride knowing that Lurpiv trucks are designed in Sweden, Where i grew up. Not the smallest country in Europe. but like some parts of Canada way up closer to the pole.
Yes dude! As a Canadian I've always felt a cultural attachement to Sweden lol. They are awesome trucks! Super simple but elegant geometry and really high-quality constuction. Thanks so much for your comments! Looking forward to your next one.
@@skate_oasis Perhaps you should come to sweden or at very least one of the majour citys. stockholm has many skate parks of all sizes both in the city and around the suburbs. I would suggest High walley skatepark as one of the bigger skateparks. or in Swedish Högdalen(High walley). But even if your a seasoned and tough canadian . out door skating is less than great when snow and ice is covering the ground and pools and ramps.
Can you figure out a booster for me please? Me old m8
I’m not sure what that is 🤷♂️ Skate tricks have so many different names lol. Want to link a video and I’ll do my best!
I'm just setting up an old school (alva) deck and I was going to get them but went with a pair of Stage 4's just for the full old school vibe. I love the look of the Lurpiv's though. They remind me of old Motobilts a little bit. It's a shame they couldn't figure out a way to keep the manufacturing out of China. I'd prefer to support made anywhere else, but at least the quality is good. I'm somewhere where it's hard to get a good selection so it was only big brand options for me or the Lurpivs. Next set I may try them but I'm also tempted by a set of Trackers. Still made in the USA. Good review. Thanks!
Thanks for your thoughts! Really appreciate your comment and let me know what you think of the trackers!
Great channel bro
Thanks Frankie!
Sick. Love the OG setups.
I wish my backyard mini was inside...
I wish I had a backyard mini
@IsaacDouglas-Jones got mine age 41... neighbors think I'm a weirdo... maybe but I'm a happy weirdo
@@soberskater That’s so cool, the neighbours probably jealous that you always having fun.
You are a weirdo! All my favorite people are weirdos! Stay weird man!
Throw a big canvas tent over it!
That’s a Sick One!🔥🔥🔥
Thank you!
Well done mate and happy birthday!
Thanks so much! I’m kinda happy it’s over 😂
Happy birthday dude! Happy you were able to get all 38!
Thanks dude! This was long and difficult lol but I'm glad I did it!
Is this good to pick up as a fundamental before trying BS airs? Righteous tutorial dude
I think so yes! This move gets you comfortable and strong in a low, tucked position which is essential for bs airs. Thanks for the nice words! It’s my first ever and I’m planning on taking tons of them!
@skate_oasis rad, awesome, yeah i can FS and BS slash but throwing a layback in there feels challenging, cant wait to try it out 🤙
What brand it it
The OG Powell Peralta tailbone
