I’m 47 and absolutely love the Dragon wheels. My knees, feet and back have thanked me for switching. I tried OJ dual duros and they were an instant remove from my set up.
They’re so awesome! I’m looking forward to getting a fresh set in a few months but I can barely justify it since my original set are in such awesome shape. Maybe I’ll just dye them bright purple or something? Thanks for watching and commenting dude! Stay rad!

Love my dragons. I'm 40 and just got back into skating last year after 20 years, the dragons were the second set of wheels I tried when I came back and they really helped reduce knee and foot pain. That alone makes them pure gold for me. I got a set of Nanocubics at the end of last season and I really like the shape of them but haven't got to skate them too much, Nova Scotia weather is shit and I haven't been able to skate much at all for a couple months. Awesome video, loved the honkin goose reference.
its messed up when your mind knows what to do and youyr body cant do it isnt it? lol im 50 and i came back after about 30 . at first i struggled to push down the street
I've had the original 93a dragons, 97a X formula, and currently the AA 97a dragons. I found that over time the 93a dragons got really slick on smoother surfaces. I feel like the 97a dragon\x formula are the way to go for all around street\park skating. X formula comes in more shapes, but I'm liking the AA so far.
The 93s are definitely slicker than they were, not as slick as a 99 or 100 but still very easy to slide. I’ve heard excellent things about the x formula wheels as well! Also saw that they just dropped a new size in the && shape as well! Thanks for watching and giving me your thoughts! Stay radical friend 🤙

Ok I'll add a little more to this review. I'm just about 20 years older than the this guy. For me using Dragons is the first time I've ridden a soft wheel in a skate park since late 70's/early 80's. I also have been using these for a year. This review is about spot on. I've been doing Bert slides for well over 40 years and these slide really good. Infact they slide better than the Spitfire 99A 60mm wheel I was riding previously. So less effort. Now when I do layback slides I found that this is one of two tricks I do that fools the wheel into gripping rather than sliding. So when I go into a lay back on a bank or incline you really have to push that back foot away from you. Eventually it will go into sliding making it an easy roll away. The other is alleyoop slides in vertical ramps or bowls I find it wants to grip there as well. So you will need to get used to transferring your weight differently to get them sliding. For me I found that these wheels are faster than the spitfires I was using. Carving in a bowl is deceitfully fast as well. I also found when you bonk them on the coping to get air or air out, that it is much smoother on the bonk. Lastly I would not ride slippery parks since I do land somewhat harshly and depend on grip to not slide out on my ass. These have allowed me to skate any park. The wheel is incredible. As stated mine have gotten louder but I have had no loss of grip as of yet. I've also ridden these on outdoor ramps with skatelite and they grip that really well. The only thing to beware is they do cone. So you will have to rotate or invert the wheels from time to time. I was surprised with this since I thought modern wheels had done away with that issue. Thanks for a great review!!!
@@chrhadden ya one of the funnest moves ever! unfortunately shorts or pants also look the same over time from doing them. seriously my mom can't believe I still get holes in the same place from the move...LOL!
Hi, thanks for the fantastic review! Have you had a chance to test out the Dragon 88a ? I would love to hear how the Dragon 88a compares with the 93a you've been riding. Cheers
Hey, thanks for the comment! I’m stoked you liked it. I haven’t tried those wheels yet, but I did ride a set of OJ Super Juice wheels in 87a this summer for a few months. I really liked them, but they felt a bit slower compared to my Dragons. Since I’m usually skating smooth parks or my mini ramp, I don’t really need softer wheels most of the time. That said, I’m planning to set up a crusty street spot board next summer because my friends and I are starting a full-length project. For that setup, I’ll definitely be looking for a slightly softer wheel. If you end up trying them, let me know what you think! Happy holidays, my friend, and stay rad!
Good review! First time here. I’ve also found this duro great for street.. but def slow for park(learning transition) I’m loving the new Nanos though (97a) Same sound and def fun at a park. They come in all sizes too!! 🎉
I love the dragons, they are amazing for street, though I prefer f4 in parks. The only downside I can think of is that they wore down more quickly than my other wheels. 4 months and I'm down 1cm from 54 to 44mm Still rocking them, but at this size they're not quite so fast. Still smooth though. Next Up are the 97a AA wheels, I am hyped to try primo tricks.
Thanks for your comment! I could see the F4s being preferrable in the park because of the extra speed! I haven't measured mine but I bet they're a bit smaller than new. Let me know how the && wheels are!
This is why I still ride dragons after almost a year, I can get to the park, go to the store, haven't died from a pebble yet, my bones thank me, I can Ollie, grind, carve, drop in do flip tricks etc. all on the same board and wheels. Muy first impression with dragon wheels was" they suck" now I can't skate anything else
@@skate_oasis I was doing a manual at a decent speed in a crusty park the other day and hit a good size rusty bolt. I saw it right before I hit it and didn't have time to react. It sent me straight to my face. It happened so fast. Didn't even put a mark in the wheel just a rust spot. Pretty much my worst wipe out since 1978 when I started. I had the SPF wheels on as I usually skate a decent vert park in Nashua NH. The other day I went to Nash after taking a month to heal and walked around before I skated. It's usually clean though I found a handful of objects like plastic parts from bike reflectors and other junk that could easily send me. So at 52 years old I'm going to try a softer wheel. I appreciate the info and review.
Nice review I ride dragon wheels almost every day on my last km commute to work and on the weekends at skate parks they are great as a all season wheel for rough weathered spots
Hey thanks for leaving a comment! They’re pretty awesome 👏 I’m tempted to get a fresh set but mine are still perfectly fine. They strike a great balance between speed and smoothness. My bones really appreciate them.
They look so sick! Have you ever looked into FP or Old Bones Therapy insoles? They would add another layer of shock absorbing and help out. Thanks for watching and commenting, and stay rad 🤙
They were 56 when they were new. My 55mm side cuts are probably 53 after about a couple months of part time skating, work and kids get in the way of my skate progress tho LOL.
I'm torn between these and the Andy Anderson ones which are 97A. I think I will go for the AA's as during winter I will probably be skating indoor parks more than crusty outdoor spots but maybe get the normal dragons for spring/summer
If I ever get into freestyle I'm definitely going to try the nano cubits! For really crusty spots you might even want something a little softer than the dragons. Thanks for watching dude!
Oh man, I really want the nano cubics with a freestyle setup... But I can barely keep up with replacing my street board parts haha I wonder if the offset on those wheels will bring a set of trucks a size down match decks that are a size up, meaning 8.0 trucks matching 8.25 decks in width.
Having tried both, I much prefer the X97 formula, which is also used in the 97a nano cubics. They still keep a good roll speed on roads and sidewalks, and they dampen impact a bit, but they don’t bounce like the 93a dragons do, and they feel on a mix of rough and smooth concrete. The bounce of the dragons is the main thing I dislike on them, as it feels like it just makes landing flip tricks harder.
@@burger1113 eh, yes and no. They only go maybe 1 or 2 mm past the end of the axel. That said, I think the 8.4 AA board is about perfect with 8.25 trucks and nano cubics.
Practicing surfskate for 1y, I tried DF and I have to acknowledge that they are a killing machine for Bert slides BUT feeling sometimes very uncomfortable in the bowl since suddenly deciding to slide in straight line for no any reason …. which leads to a disaster since, yes, the speed increased significantly compared to conventional surfskate wheels
Are most surfskate wheels made with a hard edge? I kind of assumed since the main goal there is carving power and speed. I bet the dragons are WILD on a surf setup. Thanks for watching!
I just got a pair, I love them. For the rough ground of Buffalo they are awesome. They are a little unpredictable at times, I busted my ass the first day trying to check my speed on a steep hill, the will get icy on ya😊
@skate_oasis yessir much better, I had 52 mm formula fours before but I skated them so long, these feel huge (they're 52s) I just gotta tweak my truck and get them where I like them. I've always followed the Muska formula, front truck loose back truck medium. I feel like you get more consistent pop that way yet you can still surf. Honestly I just love ripping down the sidewalk on these things carving around, theyre amazing! Another thing I noticed is they dont get hot! I skated 5 miles and they were cool to the touch, very nice to see the skate industry still innovating and making things better.
I have both the rat bones version and the regular 93a dragons. I have to say the rat bones are a lot smoother and faster in my opinion. You should definitely try them out if you haven’t yet.
I like my dragons but that wheel bite is bad. I'm 37 now and had to switch because i tweaked my back from the wheel bite too many times. But they do feel good on the streets. They do help with knee, ankle, and lower back pain while skating street.
Hey thanks for your comment! I agree with the wheelbite - the softer urethane definitely bites a little harder. I ride loose trucks + risers and I don't get it often but do sometimes. I actually went so far as to wax my deck at the bite point, this helped for sure. Stay rad friend!
@@skate_oasis i tried waxing my deck too but i guess I'm just heavy. I used some thin sheet metal with adhesive in the wheel wells. They look like metal stickers. That helped. I switched to the nano cubics. I like them a lot better.
The dragon rats are money on the street, they remind me of the 90A Crossbones, which for me at the time, were the perfect wheel. I can take the dragon rats in crustier than the regular dragons and still roll through with ease. Did a mellow downhill bomb and was glued to the asphalt, speed wobbles aside 🤣🤣
I'm also surprised how the dragons are so soft, but they avoid flatspots somehow. I do try to keep my slide angle away from 90, and I guessed maybe the ride being so soft was masking the flatspots, but after riding 54mm ones down to about 50mm and riding a new set for a few months now, I think they are just good at avoid flatspots lol I agree with them being perfect wheels, and I don't think I'll ever ride anything else outside of skating parks which I rarely get a chance to. Even then, I'd be on the X-formulas.
I find these a tad too soft and bouncy, when I go off anything higher than a curb, I feel a crazy amount of spring/rebound that shoots up into my legs, causing my board to shoot out from my feet :/
Interesting! I actually find the opposite. When I skate harder wheels I feel all the bumps impacts more, whereas these wheels seem to absorb the same impacts. Skateboarding is subjective though and what feels good under my feet might feel bad under yours. Thanks for your comment!
I wish we could stop calling them “cruiser wheels”. I’ve been skating the 78a Ricta Clouds for years. I ride them on a regular street setup and do regular street ticks with them. It’s just a soft wheel.
These Dragons sound like the Ricta Coulds I have, 55mm 92 or 93 hardness & they are Awesome at the Skatepark or on the Streets. I recently got a set of Spitfire 58mm 99 dur & the ONLY place they're good is at a Skatepark, other than that they're Useless, Rough, Slow, Vibrate your Soul...I also have 2 sets of Super Juice 55mm 78dur and they are the Fastest wheels on the Street & at the SKATEPARK toooo. I also like the way they look, the SUPER JUICE, very 1970's Vibe....
Hey thanks for commenting! I looked at the Ricta’s as well and I’ve heard they’re great wheels. I started skating again two summers ago using 101a formula fours and my feet hurt all the time 😂 The super juices sound awesome!
Everytime i see review of these i just hope to see someone have the same problems i did with these wheels but i never seem to find anyone i had two sets of these dragons and within 3 to 6 months of having them the core stretched out so much my bearings were falling out of the wheel and that second set was sent to me for free by skate one cause i emailed them about the first set i for that did the same thing after that ive just wrote these wheels off entirely they skate very smoothly qnd slide great as advertised but their just faulty and i think its because their softer wheels
@@skate_oasis yep and strangly enough it was always my back truck's right wheel it stretched so much it could pull my wheel off the truck over the bolt when the bearings weren't in the wheel go take some harder wheels and the dragons put them side to side and look at the core they might be stretched out or maybe you were lucky enough to just never have this happen at all but it would make me think my bearings were messed up in that wheel so i would change them out and still have the same problem than i discovered it was stretched when i looked at them long enough than eventually the bearings straight fell out of the wheel lol sorry for the long rant gars to describe
@@chrhadden ain't nobody lying you fool unf@ckbelive able 😂bro you want me to upload video of the bearings falling out of the wheel all i did was flat ground skate on some crusty ground if the wheels work for you kudos but i ain't touching dragons no more and i enjoyed the dragons they were just defective in my case which really put a bad taste in mouth when most wheels ive never had that problem its was strange maybe if i got a third set that didn't mess up in 2 months when i ride my wheels for at lesst 5 or 6 normally lol
@@skate_oasis Yeah. They do have some pluses and I am not trying to trash them completely. I mostly skate on asphalt and sidewalks. When I first started to grind with them they would stick and slow me down. After a week or so of skating with them they got better. They did not slide well on rougher ground but worked great on ramps. I rode the same set up for 2 months. Going to try out the 97s next. Thanks for the review
I just tried these & they're not bad, but I really have to say they're definitely a skatepark wheel. I tried these at only a moderately rough parking lot & they immediately couldn't handle it & I hurt my hand really bad from a hard slam. Personally I skate Perralta 56MM 85A G Slides & personally they are the perfect wheels. Wide & soft enough to handle fast carves in transition, & still slide pretty well. 85A-90A is the perfect hardness for street & skatepark. If your bearings are fine, I don't notice any loss in speed at all, just lube your bearings, & don't believe the hype nonsense of turtle slow softer wheels because you're not skating 99A's. Take care of your gear, learn to push & learn to pump & you shouldn't notice a real difference.

It's going to take more than a miracle wheel to improve my skating.
Every little bit helps!
It’s about making skating more enjoyable. It’s not really going to make you better. Only time on a board can do that.

Nice! I've had the 60mm rats on my wish list for a while! Thanks for watching!
I'm also surprised how the dragons are so soft, but they avoid flatspots somehow. I do try to keep my slide angle away from 90, and I guessed maybe the ride being so soft was masking the flatspots, but after riding 54mm ones down to about 50mm and riding a new set for a few months now, I think they are just good at avoid flatspots lol
I agree with them being perfect wheels, and I don't think I'll ever ride anything else outside of skating parks which I rarely get a chance to. Even then, I'd be on the X-formulas.
I'm not planning on it either! They're more than fast enough for me and the comfort is out of this world.
Thanks for your comment!
Fair point! Cruiser wheels kind of implies you're just kicking around.
I started skating again two summers ago using 101a formula fours and my feet hurt all the time 😂
The super juices sound awesome!
@@skate_oasis They Are
I love myvdragons 58mm on the streets😊, as cruiser deck* for skating hard de x formula 97 on 54
They're pretty awesome! I'm loving all the new wheel tech.
@@skate_oasis me to, x formula, new favorite wheels
Whats size dragons do you ride?
Everytime i see review of these i just hope to see someone have the same problems i did with these wheels but i never seem to find anyone i had two sets of these dragons and within 3 to 6 months of having them the core stretched out so much my bearings were falling out of the wheel and that second set was sent to me for free by skate one cause i emailed them about the first set i for that did the same thing after that ive just wrote these wheels off entirely they skate very smoothly qnd slide great as advertised but their just faulty and i think its because their softer wheels
I haven't heard of this! That was good of them to replace the wheels. DId you run into the same issues with the second set?
@@skate_oasis yep and strangly enough it was always my back truck's right wheel it stretched so much it could pull my wheel off the truck over the bolt when the bearings weren't in the wheel go take some harder wheels and the dragons put them side to side and look at the core they might be stretched out or maybe you were lucky enough to just never have this happen at all but it would make me think my bearings were messed up in that wheel so i would change them out and still have the same problem than i discovered it was stretched when i looked at them long enough than eventually the bearings straight fell out of the wheel lol sorry for the long rant gars to describe
i bet you use spacers dont you? toss the spacers!
@@SkaterPoopyPants ok you are lying or you are running them over with a car or mistreating things somehow.
Dragons chip in the street and wear down a bit faster than most regular wheels
Hey thanks for watching! This was actually the opposite of my experience. Granted I'm in the skatepark 95% of the time.
I agree. They're a slightly softer skatepark wheel. Really appreciate you watching and your insights!
I also use the same wheels and are very and till now no complains. Is like having all terrain wheels. A 4x4 skateboard hehehehehe
They're awesome! Thanks for watching!
Basically, Dragons for asphalt and harder wheels for concrete then.
I ride the dragons everywhere. They’re the daily driver wheel - I love how they feel on asphalt, concrete, and wood ❤️
Thanks for watching 🤙
99-101A wheel’s definitely have drawbacks.
They do but it all depends on your frame of reference. In smooth, well-maintained skateparks, they should have minimal drawbacks. Thanks for watching!
i have the 58mm .the only thing bad about them is you will be wasting money trying to find anything better
I know right! Thanks for watching 🤙
Try Slimeballs Vomits 97 😊
Slimeballs are great!@@HolzmannMedia
Settle down nerd
lol can’t help it! Thanks for watching 🙏
