I’m so happy to see that you made it bristle with guns everywhere, not just the forward-facing arc. That’s good commitment to making this thing somewhat formidable to attack from ground.
The scene of Gallsien ships traveling across the desert, steady in formation with sand trails and music hit me like a brick. For a second I didn't know what I was looking at, I only felt like I seriously recognized it. Seriously, the moment I recognized what I was looking at I was awestruck. You mimicked the game perfectly, the ships moving forwards while under fire and getting blown up, then unleashing fire after getting close enough matched perfectly what you would see in homeworld. Absolutely spot on. The reason I loved this so much is because of how much I enjoyed playing deserts of kharak, and I find it fascinating that you managed to recreate that in space engineers. People really can do anything with this game.
Same here. I imagine that thing would actually be a decent boss considering it's maximum speed is around 226kph despite it's enormous size, and massive number of guns. Plus the two primary hit-scan guns... and just forget about dodging those in the air. That said: I would prefer to board and take it room-by-room in an X-com like game, or a Final Fantasy game.
Spirit of Mother Will lookin ahh. Nice work. Would actually be amazing to see this converted into Mother Will though. Covered with "wings" of aircraft runways, missile silos, and a set of even larger main cannons.
That Goliath is just a walking fortress. You're not safe from the sides, you're not safe from above, you're not safe from below. It looks as impregnable as you can get
Thought this was an dev video or something from a Supreme Commander inspired game, didn't realize it was in Space Engineers. Mad props. Also love the Homeworld music.
Walking fortress. Very cool. The physics of the game are obviously suspect but over all pretty cool. I would question the intelligence of the OpFor C.O. sending such light units against a machine that looks like it could survive a near miss from a tactical nuke.
Space Engineers often has somewhat sketchy physics (it's basically space minecraft with less stylized visuals, being able to fly your home base elsewhere is a very big change), but it might help to note that the attackers aren't usually heavy tanks with treads, but more like spacecraft overloaded with thrusters traveling at blistering speed on cushions that hinder friction with the ground, which makes them leap into the air and bounce at the slightest elevation change despite their weight. They are at any time just barely stopped from taking off into the air.
The Death Star (starwars) was destroyed by an X-wing. So it makes tactical sense to send small units against this walking fortress. All they have to do is ... find the exhaust port ?
It'll have to be an actual mountain to hide this thing The wheeled version looks like this from a few km away imgur.com/R2Z0HcQ So the legged version would be even taller and more menacing
I feel like I remember seeing a video of something similar to this... or maybe the Buron being made in a server years back. But since it was on a content creators server, the location, information, and details were all leaked by them and so it never made it past the planning stages as the entire server converged on them and completely destroyed everything. Never saw something like it since then till now.
Space Engineers can be insanely cool when it runs well and there are honorary rules like 'no rockets, gatlings, ramming or jetpack manning". Makes the game 1000% more fun
Walking Fortresses are epic. I would imagine that in order to transport itself to the battlefield, it would have to be amphibian. Able to float in the sea to get to other continents, then walk on land to crush enemy territory. Would be terrifying. A giant aircraft carrier with legs walking towards you.
