That last carrier had vertical launch racks, I used a similar setup to load a heavy cruiser with 10 fighters, it makes for a compact rapid launch system but recovery is agonizingly slow.
Yeah those fighters aren't designed to be recovered. Mostly they are cheap and agile. They get printed off 5 or 10 at a time on a sprue and loaded in with a tug. They are treated more like munitions than attack craft on the logistics side of things. If you do manage to bring one back you just lock it down on the flight deck to jump out and worry about it later.
When the new blocks drop, carriers (if done right) will become truly meta. All the resources you can gather will be fed to simple drone printers if you're attacked, creating a constant onslaught that can trigger at 4+ KM away.

The drone meta I think will be much more interesting than the current meta of just either a gdrive ramming ship or a ship just plastered with railguns.
Nice video :) I think my favourite for looks is the Ulveflokk and my favourite for utility is the Vogn. It's got a good number of intimidating fighters and it can keep them all pretty safe inside an actual warship hull. Once the new AI blocks come out carriers will definitely be a lot more viable as a solo or small faction. I may have to upgrade my computer for it though. As it is the Courser makes my computer heat up just pasting it in. It might brick my current rig if all the fighters suddenly took off and started shooting lol.
It's me again I built a new carrier and asked my friend to use my vogan like one and we're evenly matched pilots but I won due to me being in more combating situations and he's now preparing for our raid Vs the COR (corpus) ive been gathering data to get the beat battle results but im suspecting theyre building a supercarrier do to the lots of supplies being pulled in the massive underground hanger they hav but my boys hav been building a dreadnought and a supercarrier bc im sorting plans and who does what
Hello yet again I've started an investigation on the enemy base and as I thought it was a supercarrier but I found out it was their way of reaching pertam which i had 2 people their reaching a dropzone so i can return them to me safely so I decided to trigger an alarm and try sabotage the carrier for my crew members to leave the grasp of pertam but as I hid from the charging guards I noticed they had a data board room so I snuck in and found the plans for pertam and screenshoted it and escaped in my custom painted ship and called a drone ship to distract the enemy and as I flew away I saw that a whole convoy with 5 trucks 3 tanks and 9 jeeps containing by my guess supplies for their supercarrier I decided to call in a crewship to focus on the trucks which it destroyed 2 of them befire needing to jump back to base where I shew everyone present the plans and might I say our dreadnought is done and being loaded with ammunition and fuel
Absolutely loved this video, my favorites were the Camina Industrial Carrier, absolutely amazing, Barracuda is great in how the fighters are set up and it's general feel of stealth, but that Courser also amazing in how it can carry such a great amount of fighters !, next update is gonna be great for carriers because we can finally have autonomous drones so carriers will sure become a thing in SE.
Drones... Like a Protoss carrier from Starcraft... thats spooky... It could still be realistically countered though; I doubt the AI will be much good at evasive maneuvers.
I want come back to this video and say carriers are already a meta before the grid AI update. People in the community don’t really understand and assumes it is impossible to counter attack a brick from behind every time. The solution is to create a gps mesh before battle and simply coordinate your team to jump to the gps the enemy is flying backwards to. A bit like playing badminton watching the shuttlecock land and you know exactly where it will land because the floor is marked already. Same tactic can be use with CTC guided drone /Torps. The GPS mesh does require brainstorming to automate but it is not rocket science to create a gps mesh generator. The carrier can operate far away as long as there is laser antenna relay. So AI update will make things easier.
I actually have a scale skeleton of Tiqqun station but I don’t know if I will ever finish it. From my crap measurements it’s roughly 1.2km in diameter but I might be remembering wrong…
@@andromededp5316 They don't need to be. Does not matter how good you are as a pilot, 1 v 5 is probably already moderate. 1v10 and the pilot is more than outgunned. Most of these ships have the issue, imo, of not offering enough fighters. The last ship on the list with a 50 fighter compliment can be 100% automated with AI blocks. At best the pilot might give you a chance with waves of 10. But if you are playing to win, you are deploying all 50 at once. And, if the thought might be 'just take out the carrier', well, the AI blocks don't need the carrier to function after deployment. So, you drop in, deploy your fighters, and then have the carrier retreat. Or, if you are feeling extra bold, keep a compliment of 15 fighters on patrol around the carrier to deal with pilots brave enough to take it head on. I am going to be putting a lot of this into practice soon myself. I am starting up a server with some friends and I am planning to do an AI Drone Hive play vs my friends. No allies or teammates. We have the benefit that our mod list is going to include drills for INF resources, but we will have to fight to control resource nodes. I am very interested in seeing how this plays out.
Submarine Carrier? Nice! Add cloaking technology and it will feel like great! Just imagine: drop fighters, bombard base to dust and vanish into nothing, like there was just wind)
"Smallest"! 😆 Wow; I learned a ton from this event/video... I didn't see anything I didn't like. Totally didn't expect to see a land carrier! I think the industrial carrier has the gears in my head turning the hardest. I hope the update will help unleash the swarms some of these are able to carry...
Certain realities of combat in space engineers are obvious to me that many of these designs ignore. For example, hangers are a liability in combat maneuver, as the same revectoring method that spoils automatic aim results in a ship that cannot be maneuvered out of reliably. It’s better to carry parasites on the outside of the hull, either on ports or just on landing gear, and to bring them in on a heavy cruiser or frigate for firepower purposes. Are any of these adaptable into clang missile carrier designs?
Based on the number of interior walls I see used, and the exceptionally slow acceleration listed on several ships, I'd have to imagine most (if not all) of these carriers have exactly two responses to being engaged in pvp by properly designed and flown purpose-built L-grids: A: Panic-jump B: Get torn to bits In real life carriers are important and powerful because they allow for the deployment of craft that are fast and efficient. We can't afford to give every soldier in the military their own automated sky-battleship (or for that matter try and build flying battleships in the first place). In SE if you aren't short on resources, then other than repair time there really isn't a good reason to not give every soldier in your military their own rocket-propelled sky-battleship.
@@tael3081 On the contrary, a single well-crewed battle cruiser outfought more than thirty times it's mass over the course of a year in GetBrocked's Outlands due to it's ability to continuously repair, including one battle with close to 7/1 odds against it. A big part of that was the well-drilled and experienced damage control team, another was the strategic design of the ship to enable combat repairs, and a third was aggressive use of the jump drive, as well as just plain good captaining.
@@dashiellgillingham4579 I'd question what you call a battlecruiser, and note that it is often easier to go by mods, PCU, weapon count, and grid size when explaining non-carrier pvp ships to people not already familiar with the specific ship/server.
I still want an epic multiplayer mass battle with tons of ships And even better close planet fight so the ships that get destroyed fall down into the planet Ye my pc can’t handle that
Even once grid AI update finally drops carriers aren't going to be 'meta' anytime soon sorry to disappoint. Especially not the ones showcased in this video that eat up a player's entire 20,000 pcu limit. Now missile destroyers, maybe.
Not every server uses PCU limits as restrictive as the official servers. Some have PCU per ship, some have Block count per ship. Some use a mod that makes PCU only track power and weapons on a grid as a balance tool. Some just use powerful enough hardware they can ignore PCU entirely.
yeah keen servers would be difficult but if your on different servers with upwards of 180000 pcu itd be pretty nice especially with some servers having a 20k block limit per ship
I'm glad you like it! I've been trying to update it with small connectors for the fighter compliment, but so far, I've only managed to design a Clang Bomb...
@@marcusinfestus1333 I know you're pain. I've been building a converted battleship carrier with a landing deck, but I just end up breaking things and running out of room in the interior.
While I don't disagree that carriers are the ultimate in mobile base at the time, I'm slightly confused what the old meta was. The way I see it, you have to choose one of three: You build a base, a god-ship capable of doing everything there is to do, or a carrier. In long-term survival, at least. If you have a different perspective, I'd love to hear about it.
Mostly that was it. It's just that it was boring to have a ship that was good at everything. Usually I tried to have several ships with different purposes.
never made an actual carrier, always thought of my ships filling other roles.. yes many still had a hanger, but only for a shuttle/miner or maybe an escort fighter or two... very minimal carrier abilities... i figure ANY true carrier is going to have 30+ fighters, light carriers would likely have 20 to 30, standard carriers 30 to 50, heavy carriers 50 to 75... naturally more fighters makes more dakka... though actual offensive firepower for carriers will be limited as most of the craft is designed for transport and maintaining the fighter craft.... would love to build something that includes a launch system, kinda like the Starfury launch sequence on Babylon 5....
Yeah I generally don't call something a carrier unless it has at least double digit numbers of attack craft. The ones I've posted so far have 35 and 50 respectively. Don't think I'll go higher than that until I upgrade my machine lol. For space based carriers a gravity cannon for launching fighters can be fun.
@@BURN7Gaming Are you sure? The links i see are only for the showcased carriers, i meant the 3 grey target ships. EDIT: I am an idiot, i've just seen you wrote them under Extras. Sorry, i have to commend you for that, i honestly did not expect you to include the blueprint for the targets, most people wouldn't have.
Don't remember seeing anything about being able to send GridAI drones after other players or even grids, let alone them making any combat maneuvers, and the videos that I've seen so far only showed them being nothing more than a remote control aitopilot rework (however even calling it a rework is really generous to what was shown). Did I miss something big, or is it just wishful thinking on your part?
@@BURN7Gaming Oh, that does look interesting, makes it kinda weird that their later showcases were so primitive, but those settings remind me of FTD AI settings, so maybe it'll actually live up to hype.

And lately I've stopped making long videos and I'm focusing on short videos.@@clamidiha
The drone meta I think will be much more interesting than the current meta of just either a gdrive ramming ship or a ship just plastered with railguns.
Ir will be even crazier with grid ai
yes, they will be even stronger
Nice video :)
I think my favourite for looks is the Ulveflokk and my favourite for utility is the Vogn.
I agree with you
I built a carrier like the vogan but instead of it having fighters it had ground vehicles and dropships
Nice
It's me again I built a new carrier and asked my friend to use my vogan like one and we're evenly matched pilots but I won due to me being in more combating situations and he's now preparing for our raid Vs the COR (corpus) ive been gathering data to get the beat battle results but im suspecting theyre building a supercarrier do to the lots of supplies being pulled in the massive underground hanger they hav but my boys hav been building a dreadnought and a supercarrier bc im sorting plans and who does what
Oh and btw I've done more work in a ground factory in our asteroid base which is my testing phase decoy bombs and grind pods for the hanger
Hello yet again I've started an investigation on the enemy base and as I thought it was a supercarrier but I found out it was their way of reaching pertam which i had 2 people their reaching a dropzone so i can return them to me safely so I decided to trigger an alarm and try sabotage the carrier for my crew members to leave the grasp of pertam but as I hid from the charging guards I noticed they had a data board room so I snuck in and found the plans for pertam and screenshoted it and escaped in my custom painted ship and called a drone ship to distract the enemy and as I flew away I saw that a whole convoy with 5 trucks 3 tanks and 9 jeeps containing by my guess supplies for their supercarrier I decided to call in a crewship to focus on the trucks which it destroyed 2 of them befire needing to jump back to base where I shew everyone present the plans and might I say our dreadnought is done and being loaded with ammunition and fuel
bro that last carrier one would be so cool when the Ai update comes!
yep :)
Yep. That's why I had this idea for this event
Drones... Like a Protoss carrier from Starcraft... thats spooky...
It could still be realistically countered though; I doubt the AI will be much good at evasive maneuvers.
@@marcusinfestus1333 😅I hope Ai will be able to fight in a decent way.
@@Burn7AI That"s why carriers like the last one that can hold like 50 would be useful
I agree with you
me watching this video knowing damn well i dont know how to build a ship
Be careful; That's EXACTLY how I ended up with a carrier (my 1st successful large grid) on this video...
This inspired me to make the balgray from space battleship yamato in space engineers. Also balgray is a carrier with multi level flight decks
"Ixion" ship design 100%
I actually have a scale skeleton of Tiqqun station but I don’t know if I will ever finish it. From my crap measurements it’s roughly 1.2km in diameter but I might be remembering wrong…
The problem with carriers is the amount of players needed to make them combat-effective
Yeahh, it's good that we have all the AI block stuff.
@@BURN7Gaming which are nowhere as effective as a human pilot
LOL 🤣a very strong ,,wind''
I already have a carrier built, but I just need to refit it and some drones to work with the AI update.
This video was pretty well made
Thank you
"Smallest"! 😆
Wow; I learned a ton from this event/video...
I didn't see anything I didn't like. Totally didn't expect to see a land carrier! I think the industrial carrier has the gears in my head turning the hardest.
I hope the update will help unleash the swarms some of these are able to carry...
Your Barracuda feels like a Balao Class Submarine lol
@@birrbGamesI see it lol especially on the inside. It was inspired by the IJN i400 and i401.
Hehe, i love creating land stuff man. I just feel like this game has lotta ships on the workshop but its lacking rovers you know :)
@@bevhilkn5583 agree. Good bases too. I appreciate a good base or rover because I need them, but I'm not interested in designing them lol
Very cool vid, 50 ships on that last one blew my mind, I've got to make something like this with the new AI
Thanks. Yeahh that ship is a monster LOL
Would love to see a SuperCarrier that can swallow 3 of those smaller ones. All cool designs tho for uniqueness my favorite is the Industrial Carrier.
that is a cool idea :)
@@BURN7Gaming maybe even a mobile shipyard?

Never :) LOL
@@BURN7Gaming True. I wish they would sell to colossal order. They could make a much better game.
Some very nice cinematography here my friend.

Keep it up man each video is getting better than the last one

Gee, it only took ten fucking years.
Came back to finish this video cuase I forgot to watch the second half and did a double take when I saw the arty watchdogs lmao
Thanks :)
My dream to build a Carrier ship with a Rover a Mining ship and then coquer planets.
If you start building the ships and the rover, you will succeed.
@@BURN7Gaming i build a frw but they werent good as this beautys😜
Certain realities of combat in space engineers are obvious to me that many of these designs ignore. For example, hangers are a liability in combat maneuver, as the same revectoring method that spoils automatic aim results in a ship that cannot be maneuvered out of reliably. It’s better to carry parasites on the outside of the hull, either on ports or just on landing gear, and to bring them in on a heavy cruiser or frigate for firepower purposes. Are any of these adaptable into clang missile carrier designs?
Probably. I've never played with clang so I can't say
Based on the number of interior walls I see used, and the exceptionally slow acceleration listed on several ships, I'd have to imagine most (if not all) of these carriers have exactly two responses to being engaged in pvp by properly designed and flown purpose-built L-grids:
A: Panic-jump
B: Get torn to bits
In real life carriers are important and powerful because they allow for the deployment of craft that are fast and efficient. We can't afford to give every soldier in the military their own automated sky-battleship (or for that matter try and build flying battleships in the first place). In SE if you aren't short on resources, then other than repair time there really isn't a good reason to not give every soldier in your military their own rocket-propelled sky-battleship.
@@tael3081 Agree with you. Thank you for your feedback
I still want an epic multiplayer mass battle with tons of ships
And even better close planet fight so the ships that get destroyed fall down into the planet
Ye my pc can’t handle that
Maybe sometime in the near future I'll make one just because you said ;)
Even once grid AI update finally drops carriers aren't going to be 'meta' anytime soon sorry to disappoint.
If you are going to play on the official servers from KEEN yes, it will be difficult.
yeah keen servers would be difficult but if your on different servers with upwards of 180000 pcu itd be pretty nice especially with some servers having a 20k block limit per ship
The Barracuda is so damn cool. I love space submarines.
I updated the Courser with the new AI. Ended up stripping out the light fighters in the drop hangar though as my machine was struggling.
anti fighter ai torpedos go BRRRRRRRRR
Woah, the camina carrier looks rad🔥🔥, it reminds me of the hexagon stations in elite dangerous with its docking bays
I think it's my favorite one. It has inspired some future builds for me I think
@@marcusinfestus1333 mhm me too 🤣
Thanks!
never made an actual carrier, always thought of my ships filling other roles.. yes many still had a hanger, but only for a shuttle/miner or maybe an escort fighter or two... very minimal carrier abilities... i figure ANY true carrier is going to have 30+ fighters, light carriers would likely have 20 to 30, standard carriers 30 to 50, heavy carriers 50 to 75... naturally more fighters makes more dakka... though actual offensive firepower for carriers will be limited as most of the craft is designed for transport and maintaining the fighter craft.... would love to build something that includes a launch system, kinda like the Starfury launch sequence on Babylon 5....
I didn't build one either because if you don't have other players to control the fighters, there's no point in having one
This video was great and has only made me even more hyped for grid ai
Thank you
Because the Automaton update (Official name) Will make Carriers in Single Player even more tangible and useful.

The giant drum shaped ship is called “camina ”? Reference to camina drummer perhaps?
I think so
Don't remember seeing anything about being able to send GridAI drones after other players or even grids, let alone them making any combat maneuvers, and the videos that I've seen so far only showed them being nothing more than a remote control aitopilot rework (however even calling it a rework is really generous to what was shown).

Should look up the TVSI Avalon Prototype and the modified versions from others... it is a massive ship with a capacity of over 20 fighters...
That ship is OP :) LOL
yea one with ship printers would be great

It is an open world survival game. Where you can build and fly to different planets
It's Space Engineers
im so confused, is that 18.176 or 18 thousand 176?
Edit: Looks like they switch notations constantly, very confusing.
"Looks like German notation so "." is a thousand separator, "," is a decimal separator, and • is multiplication"
18 thousand 176 :)
I can agree on day/month/year. I can agree that metric makes more sense. I will never agree with period (.) used as a thousandths separator ever. The countries that use this use commas (,) as pauses in sentences and periods (.) as sentence stops. It is internally inconsistent.
It there rivers or oceans in this game?

I like the effects a bunch, don't get me wrong. They go great with the music. But places like 6:27 or 4:20 where you have these transition style effects going into the same clip are kind of annoying.
