- If your Chris King hub has been skipping from time to time, or if you just have some free time to give your hub some love, this is a great little service to do! Worth noting: this is the same procedure that you'll need to change the axle and driveshell.
Please feel free to let us know if you have any questions about the process or the parts required 😉.
For your convenience, you'll find some links to the products discussed in this video below:

As always: PERFECT!
Only 1 thing. - Do you have any advice how to get rid of that disgusting taste in your toothbrush that sometimes last for weeks after a thorough CK service. - Is there any products out there with - say - peppermint flavor?
Yes i rub the brush on my butthole after each service, seems to do the trick
💀
Can you do a video of a full tear down using the R45 hub and the Hub Service Kit? i.e. all bearings out / bearings in and reassembly?
This is a great and clear video. I never serviced a 'hub' - One reason I chose a Chris King hub (which I bought from AVT) over others was THIS VIDEO as it had all the information I needed as a 'noob' bike user to do this service myself and not rely on an LBS. Clear concise - and I just followed it and completed my first service! Thankyou!
This is great, thank you for posting!
Thanks! Glad you liked it!
Excellent. Thanks.
Very informative - thanks. Is there a reason you didn't include bearing maintenance in the video?
Can the axle be pulled out with the cassette attached? SRAM/Shimano Microspline?
What about disc rotors? 6b or CL?
barstards!! I tried getting that colour hubset but missed out! I was told to try again for next years run. Good video though
Brown was a tricky color to anodize, and hasn't been available for a while (though we currently have one or two odds and ends in the color), but the fact that the hub shown is an older one just serves to show how good these hubs are. We love opening up an old Chris King for service because that's usually all they need-even if they're a decade or more old! Pretty good stuff. If you've got something in particular you're looking for, always feel free to shoot us an email at sales@avt.bike because sometimes we have something in the vault, and we'll also check with the manufacturer to see if they happen to have anything squirreled away somewhere 😉
@@AVTBike Thanks for the reply. As I'm a wheel builder, I buy wholesale from the local importer. I was going to use the aged bourbon hub for a gravel bike that I'm building for myself. I have the Spurcycle bell in the matching colour, I'll just have to get my order in quicker for the next run. I've sent a few people your way who were looking for some nice parts. :-)
@@geoffsemon7411 Sounds good. Keep an eye on our social channels too, because we'll post whenever a new color or a limited one becomes available.
The CHRIS KING RINGDRIVE LUBE 2.0 should be used, as it is better.
You're very right. The original Ringdrive lube works, but Ringdrive 2.0 lube will result in lower drag, and is the recommended one to use. For anyone who needs it, we have it available here: avt.bike/products/chris-king-ringdrive-2-0-lube?_pos=1&_sid=a2665106c&_ss=r
@@AVTBike Thanks very much for your reply. By the way, how do we know if the Chris King hubs we have purchased got RINGDRIVE LUBE 2.0 in them already? Only by tearing them down and taking a look inside?
@@sonnyfung5135 Customer support has told me they come as standard on the newer hubs
