    More very interesting background info:
    - Maybe the big volume knob on the screen can also be used to control the temperature in future, e.g. with pressing it and then changing the function from volume to temperature, like we have seen in some Land Rover models. Remains to be seen what they do with it, looking forward to it!
    - Fun fact: That volume ring is indeed glued to the screen, endured some long-term testing before and literally from behind does the job like you would be swiping on the screen with your finger. The screen has no hole or opening whatsoever.
    - The 91 kWh usable battery update is rolled out worldwide in spring 2022 via OTA (over-the-air update). Ford was very cautious in calculating the net capacity / the buffer and now concluded that is safe to make the buffer a little bit smaller.
    - Recent recharging tests were scoring some 10-80 % battery SOC in less than 40 minutes (original cautious figure was 45 minutes)
    - In Europe, Ford is part of the Ionity fast charger network (with Audi, VW, BMW, Mercedes, Hyundai, Kia). Ionity membership is 10 Euros monthly, then you can charge at your household energy price, for non-members it is double the costs (a way to keep out non-members basically without denying them...). With the Mach-E, you get 1 year of Ionity membership for free. In the USA, Ford works with the Electrify America network.
    - Online services with over-the-air updates, map data updates etc. runs for 6 years included. After that, it is unknown what will happen, probably the software will remain at this status then since the lifecycle of this generation is then ending.
    - The numpad function works with 7 numbers in the EU and 5 numbers in the UK. 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, 9-0 are one field each, they have done that (and not just 1 to 5) so people can type in their birth date e.g. as a combination that is easy to remember. You can leave the key inside the vehicle and close and open it with this method, making you flexible when doing outside sports e.g.
    - Difference between US and EU model are e.g. that in the US, you are not allowed to have the glare-free Matrix LED, since modification of high beam in the US in not allowed yet (old law text)
    - On the contrary, the so called Bluelane Cruise by Ford is already allowed in the US. Ford determines roads where you have good cruise control + lane keeping situations where drivers are then indeed allowed to take their hands off the steering wheel (while still being responsible for what is happening, so still level 2 and NOT level 3 autonomous driving)
    - The steering wheel has no capacitive sensor, it must be moved, or in the case of Bluelane cruise, the attention sensor at the steering wheel scans the drivers if he/she is really focused on the road.

      Could you explain me the sense of the “closing door test”? First of all doers with frameless windows feels for sure less solid but the point is that a car must be safe and to be so it doesn’t need to be heavy. Am I the only one thinking this way?

      @@gianlucaparodi it's the old "thunk" test. The sound a well made solid door makes when closing. Like in a Mercedes

      @@rogercohn yes I knew that but it doesn’t give any practical advantage to the car. A different thing is the sound proofing that makes a car’s interior very quiet.

      yeah, for so long we were dealing with the Model X here in Germany only, I was thinking about the Model Y all the time but slip of tongue kinda said otherwise

    You do very good EV tests Thomas, but one thing you never or rarely mention is the thigh support for the seat cushion in the back seat !? You're a pretty tall person, and I see in your tests that your thighs are floating high over the seat cushion in some cars and more tight in others. Thats a hugh different for the comfort of the back seat passangers. Can that be a point to take with you?😳

    Danke Thomas! The only think I don't like about the interior style is the integration of the two screens. I would have preferred to see the driver's screen integrated into a proper binnacle, giving it a cockpit / driver focused style. A bit more like Peugeot are doing now.

    B&O sounds system comes in Stereo by Default - the setting need to change to "Surround" - then it sounds SO MUCH better.

    Unusual version Thomas Blue but I do like it. Never said it before but.... kudos to Ford, that appears a very, very impressive effort first up. I'd have that model high up if not top of my EV list. A good all around package and attractive inside and out IMO. Thanks Thomas.👍

    The seats look to be massive improvement on this GT model compared to the lower models. Well done Ford. Also UK GT has ADAPTIVE LED MUSTANG SIGNATURE HEADLLAMPS Which is not found on the lower models and for some reason not available in United States.

    great review Thomas, yes for that money, some things need to be enhanced, fob and boot cover among them, wouldn't hurt to have back seat release buttons either. HUD would be cool and a lighter interior option, inside of Ford's in last few years is like being in a black-hole.

    I wish they would let you get the better suspension upgrade in the other models. I care more about handling than straight line acceleration

      Agree, such a shame..missed opportunity by Ford..makes no sense not giving us the option on lower models.Hoping 2023/24 models will have it as an option. Maybe a heat pump option too.

    Yes i made a video if the IAA and when a friend asked after my favourite car- i went for the Mustang because of the emotional design and the cool not-doorhandles, I💙nohandles. Have you who reads this seen the car in the flesh?

    Can anyone help me understand why this car with 5.1 inches or 129.54 mm ground clearance doesn't qualify as a hatchback/sportsback but rather called a 'SUV'?

      I think the basic "problem" with EVs it, that the floor is 10-15cm higher than in normal sedan/hatchback because of the battery and the floor inside is at the same level as in most cross-overs. And because cross-over category sells so well, they have decided that all electric cars are either cross-overs or SUVs. So it's just marketing and getting better price for same vehicle.

    4 secs 0 to 60mph is more than enough. I get car sick from g force, feel dizzy and want to puke when car accelerates so fast. That's why I think manufacturers should stop playing who goes faster from 0 to 60 game but instead focus more on efficiency, range, weight and charging speed etc. EV are already very smooth and quick. I think they've already proven that to the 🌎 just focus on charging speed and range...and more affordable models.

      I agree. All the companies are trying to out-Tesla Tesla. It's all about acceleration and gimmicky gadgets. I wish they'd focus more on range and affordability than outright acceleration.

    Shame they went for the archaic and less flexible and user friendly 60:40 folding rear seats , instead of the more practical and usable 40:20:40, especially as it’s a blank sheet of paper design 🧐
    Atleast it’s a hatchback tho 👍🏻
    Something I think would make the Real Mustang a much better vehicle 🙏🏻
    Also I’d of used Unbridled instead of Untamed for the power mode 🐎
    I hope you can get it without the passé rear tints as they’re a wee bit naff these days and no longer gangsta or cool as we now get air-con 🤣🤣🤣
    Could they do an over the air update where the tablet wheel can control the temperature in the future aswell
    A bit like the newer JLR controls which have multifunctions , fan , temp, seats etc

    I like the exterior, especially with this blackened front "grill". However, I don't understand how anyone allowed the cockpit/dashboard to look that...simple and dull. I could get past the huge central screen, it's fine, but that tiny rectangular thing behind the wheel, and the wheel itself...Just inappropriate!

    Problem this car will have is its price, in ireland it starts the top version at 78k its too expensive for a ford

    Car makers just keep messing up. Why do the design the car to a specific range? The model 3 standard range does 400 kilometers on a battery that less than half the one in this Ford. Why make it so big and heavy instead of putting that same big battery into a smaller car with less power?

    I was pretty impressed, right up until you said "70k euro" :O
    And what is it with american models and those huge ugly tablets on the center console? Also, what a terrible place to put the control for changing gear imo. Don't mind the knob, but the positioning looks very inconvenient

      It is definitely worth the money. Volkswagen doesn't have a frunk and has visible reinforcement bracing under the hood!!! This tells me that the MEB platform is a fail. Christian Senger needs to be fired. Ferdinand Piëch would've killed the maker of the ID.

      @@talkandplay you can literally go online or on your local VW dealer. The bracing is there to pass crash safety because the MEB platform is weak.

    this is probably the EV SUV (*based on the package value) i would buy if i would be interested in...
    *nice design inside out, real not-glossy buttons throughout (especially on the steering wheel), no leather seats, nice steering wheel screen, storage options, UI and huge carplay (because of that 10:58), no pano roof without any screen, really huge frunk with a drain, decent range and very decent acceleration.... omg while im writing this i realise that i might want one! :D

      It gets even more interesting when the regen braking overheats. Also I heard the charging experience is quite fun especially when travelling. Also when you use their ADAS it can be downright scary! Co pilot 360 or whatever it’s called.

    From this video and comments it's obvious that America is way behind when it comes to EV. I have seen one Mach E on the road here. Charging is still very sparse except For Tesla. And that's about all the ev's I see. Lots and lots of Tesla. Even though there is no dealership, no service and inconsistent quality here. So ev's work well for commuter car here and would be perfect for rental cars. But I know Audi Etron owners who rent an ice vehicle to go on vacation if they are driving even just to California (500 miles). When one stop for a charge would do it.

    pfff it looks like an ICE car, why ?? the stupid knob on the screen... first thing that will break off. Don't like it at all, it's for people that are still living in the 90's and want a fake front grill... sigh, even the main screen is in the wrong direction to see a movie, games, etc... Not for me, why would you want a modern new era car looking like an old boring one.... nothing exciting to see and way better design's these days from designers that do realize their is no ICE engine anymore in the front... Ford won't sell a lot of these or maybe second hand.
