Faux-grille - a thing we're stuck with for another few years until car body designers finally get it - you don't need a radiator, so you don't need a grill, so stop leaving space for one then wondering what the heck to put there... put something more aerodynamic instead!

Surely Zero must have something to your liking. They have a dakarstyle model, I think. i remember trying one out over a year ago and I am 1 meter 90. It felt comfortable until I passed out comparing the price to range. To be honest, motorcycles are already very economical on fuel and batteries aren't quite there yet. Or it will be monstrously heavy or the range will be dissapointing. Actually if you're smart and your dinosaurburner still has some life in him, I'd wait a few more years to commit to EV. I think the haters hate how it's the quickest 0-60mph outside the gt500&even then on a non prepped surface? I'd bet on the mach e gt to win.
Then it can actually sit 4 full size average adults comfortably, it can carry cargo easily enough. You can see out of it quite well.
And of course it can run on sunshine, wind, hydro, geo thermal or nuclear. No gas guzzler can do that.
Also they seem to forget the first ever coupe was a 6cyl weak little under powered car aimed at secretary's. Yes they even had commercials showing women driving them to the grocery stores back in the 60s.
Plus the simple fact over 80% of all mustangs made didn't come with a v8 underhood. I uses to daily drive one with the 3.7 6cyl which ran 12s on radicals, low 13s on st tires it got 30+mpg hwy at 70+mph and cost me only 25k total. No gt of the time could match any of those figures brand new anyways.
And anyone with issues about the mach e being a mustang? But accepts the mustang 2 as one. Well I just laugh. 😁

The thing, to me, that makes the GT Performance Edition tempting/worth it if you have the money is the magnetic suspension. You don't get that on the standard GT, as it only comes on the GT PE. It makes the ride in the car MUCH better (and, frankly, the ride in the other trims is quite good).
Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of the speed too, but if that's ALL it was, the step up from the GT to the GT PE wouldn't be remotely worth it.
(Full disclosure, I drive a Mach-E Premium AWD Extended range . . . if I could've found a GT for MSRP, I'd have bought it, but the GT PE was priced just a bit higher than I was willing to go.)

But the Tesla Model 3 Performance is 20% quicker, 20% lighter, and far more advanced in terms of automotive engineering. Every cool car now is an SUV of some sort. That's because it´s hard to squeeze a thick battery pack under the floor without making an SUV out of everything. You can see a trend now is the SUV that has no ground clearance for a pothole or a curb, let alone off-road work.

    • @chidorirasenganz

Partly true, but they were making Fiat 500e and Chevy sparky v in 2014, with new batteries that they would have had 200 mi range., Which would be a little short for the range obsessed climate. Chevy Bolt is small by USA standards, 260 mile range.

    • @francesconicoletti2547
      @francesconicoletti2547 2 года назад +1

Tesla makes two sedans. I don’t think the ID3 is an SUV. The new VW people mover thing isn’t a SUV. An SUV was about ground clearance and 4wd. I don’t follow how those things affect battery position as neither effect cabin configuration. A battery skateboard can fit under just about and car chassis. EVs have more SUVs because car companies are in the middle of a marketing push for SUVs.

But Jack it is an EV, it is faster and more efficient than it's petrol equivalent. But why are these cars so expensive. We are not going to win the argument until we can make EV';s more affordable for everyone. We need to concentrate on the range and efficiency of affordable EV's and not the high end market.

      !!!
You can type that sort of thing on this site!
I am very, very much in favour of EVs as a concept, apart from this ridiculous need for speed and performance.
It seems to be a contradiction in terms to want to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions but continue to build massive EVs with massive motors ... and then in the next breath bleat on about the lack of range and the time taken to fully charge the battery.
EVs aren't toys, as some some posters seem to believe, but a serious attempt to clean up the atmosphere and slow down the rate of increase in global warming.
Having slightly excitable if not manic presenters seems another contradiction in terms.

On British roads for those of a law abiding nature , we have speed limitations for good reason, we're never sure what lies around a bend, so why drive like a flehming idiot that could end up badly? Gentle driving is the culture we have come to expect, especially as a family car, after all its not just you behind the wheel, its who is travelling with you that is important. So less of the foot to the metal and more progressive attitudes Jack.

A two ton car stuffed with batteries is just so green.
Perhaps some posters don't quite get just how much energy is expended in the manufacture of such a car, including building the battery? And how much energy to break up and recycle the parts, including the battery?
What savings (?) in green house gases is during the middle period of driving the thing.
But two tons to convey, mostly, a single person, seems a tad strange ...

Great video as always from Jack, really informative and entertaining... But unfortunately yet another boring, big, heavy and expensive electric SUV. When will these car manufacturers realise that we need more small, light and affordable electric cars?
Also another pet peeve of mine, is massive touchscreens in cars... They look ugly, aren't practical and are dangerous. You have to take your eyes off the road to be able to use them, unlike physical controls that you can operate by feel alone. You aren't allowed to use your phone whilst driving for this specific reason... But using what is essentially a tablet is fine. How does that make sense?
