      @@scottculver5728 You have two triggers which trigger the kick and the snare, all other things are recorded by the built-in microphone. The drum module itself has a stereo output that you can connect to your PA/mixer/audio interface to record a stereo mix of the drums, if I'm getting that correctly

    I play cover tunes in a bar band and this is a one trick pony for setup and teardown. While most of the reviews detail the drum sounds nobody is going to use, the basic kit with some reverb works well for my use. Hook it to a PA channel, add your eq, and your done.

    • @thecoreybrown
      @thecoreybrown 4 года назад +2

      Yes dude because I had that same question. I've seen other Instagram drummers use this and they said they added some other EQ and done. Because to be honest that didn't sound the way those insta drummer were playing. They had their snare poppin and everything more crisp and tight which is what I want. But do I have to pay more for this PA channel?

      I tried it a few gigs but I just couldn’t get my kick thumpy enough with it. Even w/ our subs and lots of bottom. I had to use a separate kick mic. Also I tried to trigger percussion w/ it off a dtx pad but there wasn’t enough gain to really hear it. For monitoring it’s awesome. But for live I found my own mics worked better.

    So a module to trigger bass, options to trigger snare and toms seperate while putting whatever effects over what the mic is picking up. Sounds good for a drummer that needs better audio for youtube, while having nice sounds to practice to, and ease of tracking to project sent from other musicians ( via drop box and the app). Maybe its not for you, but i want it. Inspiration, triggers, uploads.

    I see a lot of negative Nancy’s commenting here! This is an awesome device and is definitely worth looking into. I don’t feel this video is a very good representation of what this module can do? People saying the sound isn’t that great? Well, he only went through about maybe 10 of the 50 pre-set kits. Plus you can build your own kits, have yore own effects, etc. the unit is totally customizable. Plus, there’s about 700+ percussion and effects sounds built in, or you can download your own, or run your software from a laptop through it! Plus it has more inputs for triggers, pads, and foot switches. You can use it for recording or practice. And works great in a live setting. I’ve been using it for about 3 months and have gotten nothing but compliments on the way the kit sounds. I use the sensor unit to pick up the kit, just like overheads, and put a mic on the kick and I’m ready to go. The soundman doesn’t have to do a thing! This thing is way more capable of other things then what they show you in this, or many of the other videos on RUclips.

    How many inches is the trigger? I have a cowbell over my bass drum hoop on the batter side setup just like Dave Weckl. Because you said it picks up your whole kit from a 4 ft radius, could the EAD10 be mounted on the reso side bass drum hoop at 12 o clock? Also what would happen if you hook the EAD10 up at 1 o clock or 5 o clock whether on the batter or reso side? Would you still get the same result as the EAD10 at 12 o clock batter side?

      Dallas Farmer I’ve heard it has some feedback issues due to how sensitive the mic is. Don’t take my word for it, but it’s very possible seeing as how it gets a wide picture of the set from just one mic.

    • @drumfanatik316
      @drumfanatik316 6 лет назад +2

      theethanatorem there’s actually two condenser Mics inside the unit and you can adjust the gain. I’ve been using this live for the past 3 months and have had no issues. It’s great in a live setting. Very easy to use and set up! I don’t think the videos they show are a very good representation of this product? Plus there’s just not enough time to show all the capabilities!

  • @Gmacdrums
    @Gmacdrums 4 года назад +6

    It seems a bit limited from what the video displays. From a professional perspective I can't see a reliable or consistent use for it, but I think it would be really helpful for making covers quickly, practising with different samples, and might save you some money on investing in microphones and interface... Definently not a substitute though.

    I've been using the Yamaha's EAD 10 module in our band to get the drums' signal and send it to to our mixing console so that it can play it through the PA speakers in our setting. Soon, our sound mixing guy tells me that all the sound that is sent to the module into the auxiliary input from the the mixing console is passing by and being sent back to the mixing console together with the drums' signal from the output of the module. So for example, instead of just receiving the drums' sound in the mixing console from the module all the other instruments are being sent as well. Is it normal for this to happen? The sound mixing guy is asking me to configure so that just the drums' signal is sent to the mixing console through its output. Bur for some reason the signal that I receive to monitor and play on top of it is sent together with the drums' signal. Is this normal to happen? Is this a default setting from the factory? I've tried to look at the manuals but couldn't find anything regarding this matter.
    Would greatly appreciate any help! Thank you!

    Great review! I am considering an EAD10 and have 2 questions and was wondering if you have an idea about them:
    1. Can you use different samples for different velocities? I have some That Sound samples and they have 5 different velocity samples per snare. Is it possible to load them in so that they trigger accordingly to how hard you hit the snare?
    2. Is is possible to set up the EAD10 in a way that you only get the sampled kick and snare (so I could use them and add other mics too it) and you can seperate them in the outputs?
    Would be awesome if someone knew!

    Not to sound like a bad person but how come you say there is no other mics but then when the overhead camera goes on you see mics in front of the bass drum

    Wow, I'm way behind in all the tools everyone is using for "Uploading" quality sound in covers.
    A lot of legends and teachers are using this for lessons especially. Just bought one with added trigger for 10pc. All ya "Haters" need to refrain from commenting if you have nothing nice to say. "Sound" is always an individual preference. This device is to help get "your" sound heard without going in $2-3,000 for studio recording. Some of just want to play and enjoy sharing what we play.

    I would sure hope a set of 10K mics sound better than something that costs 500 bucks. Hey, for 549 now you get the snare trigger with it.

    When the mics were compared, the settings of the module were not on normal (Arena). Not a super good comparison.

    Anyone know if this device would pick up a kit using mesh heads and low volume cymbals? ... Just thinking of interesting practice setups that don't involve an electric rubber kit

    • @marcelosaldivia4368
      @marcelosaldivia4368 6 лет назад +3

      That is precisely why I purchased this device. I have a new 2 month old baby at home and since I've recently moved my e-kit (15YO Roland) to a band mates house for practices there, I've equipped my acoustic kit in the basement with mesh heads (RTOM), bass pad (Aquarian) and low volume cymbals (Zildjian L80) to continue practicing at home. I wanted the ability to practice on my acoustic kit with IEMs and hear myself without waking/disturbing my wife & 2 mo old baby upstairs. Mesh heads, Low Volume cymbals and this device have enabled me to do so (whenever I have the available time that is..) The sound quality with this setup is obviously not meant to be studio recording quality, but it allows me to continue practicing on my acoustic kit and hear all of its components clearly and with added options.
      Also, I can't speak for everyone, but I MUCH prefer practicing on my acoustic kit to the rubber e-kit for MANY reasons and this device makes that possible without much in the way of setup.
      Would I use this to track actual drum parts for our band scratch tracks? Probably not, as I already have a nice interface with decent/inexpensive mics for that purpose. The EAD10 for me serves its purpose (and then some with the addition of the Rec'n'Share app features) and is a means to an end for me so I would highly recommend it for that purpose if not much else. Also, the "scenes" have some entertaining sounds which provide a bit of fun play-along motivation for beats/licks you may otherwise not explore very often.
      Hope thats helpful and happy drumming!

      Thanks Marcelo for the reply - I'm in nearly the same boat! I have a 0 month old due next month. I also have a roland td4 that has served me well, but I am tired of the 'electric kit feel' and could really just use a refresh regarding my practice setup. i also have an acoustic kit, but that will be of course out of the question soon. I'm stoked to find someone else trying this.
      so, i couldn't tell by your response if you have actually implemented your said setup, or if you are planning to? let me know if you already have it working. my concern is that the ead10 might not pick up the mesh heads (or rtoms) and low volume cymbals adequately. so, until i know it works, i'm hesitant to move forward...

      Sure thing Kurt. Congrats on your little one.
      I have been using it for the past month or so and can report that it is able to pick up the entire kit w/ mesh heads, however my aquarian bass drum pad does prevent the kick trigger from functioning properly, aside from that all good. Cheers!

      Thanks for the reply Marcelo - it's comforting to know it will work. I wonder if you had a mesh head or rtom on the kick drum, if you'd get better results...? Either way, I think I'm going to try and sell my roland td4 and pick up this cool new toy - appreciate you sharing your experiment.

    Interesting idea however I’m really not impressed with the sound. Try an SM57 in a similar position - the results are much better.
