    Doc, just subscribed to your channel.
    I am behind the 8-ball. My left knee replacement is in exactly 3 weeks. Any value in your 8 exercises?
    Also, given the rotation of 8 exercises, how many times a day? "Someone" said that since I only have 3 weeks instead of 6-8 weeks, I should do these 2-3x a day. Yet today, even the 2nd set seemed painful. Thoughts?

    Knee surgery takes at least a year and it all depends the healing . Thank you , Debbie

    Thank you Dr. Tim. I am going in for TRKR on July 30th I am scared. Your exercises are helpful except, I noticed you are not alternating the legs. Is there a reason for that? Should I be exercising just the effected knee and not the other one? Also, I am unable to do any exercises sitting down.can I do then laying in bed?. Thank you

    • @PTTimewithTim
      @PTTimewithTim  7 дней назад +1

      Hi Shahida, yes alternating legs is typically the best technique. I just didn’t for the video because of time limitations. Also, most of the exercises can be modified to a lying position if needed. I would highly recommend that you check out my article on preparing for this surgery as it answers a lot of questions that you likely have about before/after surgery. I am having total knee replacement on my left knee in Sept so timing is good. This may be an obvious question but should you be doing these exercises on both knees prior to surgery to keep leg strength balanced between right and left?

    • @PTTimewithTim
      @PTTimewithTim  Год назад +2

      Yes, typically we would want to strengthen both sides as you’ll be relying heavily on the non-surgical side for support after surgery.

    Can i do the squats with a torn meniscus? Im already doing 5 or 6 of the others at the gym, including pool stretches. Iv got a BMI of 27 and my surgeon says i should do great, but im nervous, lol! Ive already had six knee surgeries, so i kinda know what to expect but i don't want to tear my meniscus further. Surgery is several mths away yet.

    • @PTTimewithTim
      @PTTimewithTim  Год назад

      Hello Renee, usually we recommend mini squats (1/2 depth) for those with meniscus issues as this should be tolerated okay. Of course, if it still causes pain then skip it altogether. You could always do squats in the pool, which removes 40-75% of your body weight.

    How long should be the foam roller?I looked on Amazon and they have 12,18, 24 or 36 inch.

    • @PTTimewithTim
      @PTTimewithTim  Год назад +1

      I use an 18-inch one with these exercises, but you may want to consider getting a 36-inch if you plan to use it for other exercises as well. Meaning the 36 could be used for other stretches as well as these exercises. I have a link in the description to the foam rollers that I recommend most often. 👍

    Thank you for your video. I was wondering, if one is able to walk for 1-2 miles every other day, with no assistive devices, are all these exercises really necessary?

    • @PTTimewithTim
      @PTTimewithTim  9 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks for the questions. Typically both legs are exercised as the non-operative leg will need a lot of strength as it will be needed to support a lot of the body weight after surgery. It’s great to hear that you can tolerate walking 1-2 miles! These exercises are still important though as they are meant to improve the knee range of motion and isolated leg muscle strength, which will be critical to improve post-operatively. You should check out my full article on total knee replacements as it answers all commonly asked questions regarding physical therapy expectations. What best exercise to knee cup fracture 8 week's ago after surgery
    No bend??

    • @PTTimewithTim
      @PTTimewithTim  Год назад

      I’m sorry to hear about your knee injury, Orleey. It is very common to have difficulty with bending the knee after a patellar fracture. Patellar fractures are problematic as you are typically placed into a knee extension brace for several weeks while the fracture is healing. This causes secondary stiffness in the knee and difficulty regaining the ability to bend it. I would highly recommend that you see a physical therapist in-person for rehabbing from this injury, even if you only see them sporadically as they will be able to customize your rehab program.

    Do you alternate on both legs for these exercises.

    • @PTTimewithTim
      @PTTimewithTim  9 месяцев назад

      Some of the exercises you can perform both legs at the same time. For others, you can perform one set on one leg, then the one set on the other and just alternate back and forth until all sets are complete.

    So when you say do three sets of ten are you saying do 30? Or are you saying do 10 then stop for some period then do 10 more? If so how long is that stop/pause before starting again? 1 minute? 5 minutes? Or? You are asking me to work from your point of view. How about for success including our point of view? We would be happy to comply if we had a baseline of knowledge to work from. Thanks for your consideration.

    • @PTTimewithTim
      @PTTimewithTim  4 месяца назад

      Hello Barry, thanks for the comment. Typically, when talking about sets and reps, you are correct in that 3 sets of 10 means, perform 10 reps, take 30 sec to 1 minute rest break, then do 10 more reps, then rest again, then finally 10 more reps. This will be equal 30 reps total. You should definitely check out my full article on total knee replacements as it covers how to best prepare yourself, your family/house, and expectations after the surgery. • @PTTimewithTim
      @PTTimewithTim  Год назад

      Hi Hue, Swimming and water aerobics are great for those with knee arthritis as the water decreases your body weight while allowing motion in the knee. However, isolated stretching and strengthening exercises should also be performed to prepare the leg for surgery.
