I think Cybertron definitely has one of if not my favourite Megatron design. It just feels so foreign in comparison to the basic formula and I think it suits David Kaye Megatron perfectly.

Who else transformed the toys based solely on the show? I've never read the instructions for the Cybertron toys at all and went by what I saw in the show, and I loved the transformation sequences.
Let's be real, Megatron opposing the Autobots on principle instead of practicality is 100% on-brand.

I love Cybertron for how much dumb fun it is. The show absolutely embraces its identity as a silly super robot anime, and it's all the better off for it. It's probably in my top three Transformers shows, even if it's for the exact opposite reasons as the other two on that list (Animated and Beast Wars).
Meanwhile still beign serious at the same time. Unlike the other 2,this one laughs.
I like Optimus’s super mode in Cybertron more than the previous 2 series. It looks like an actual upgrade from the base form rather than just becoming a bigger bot.
TF Cybertron always brought a big smile to my face. It was fun and made you want to fight evil alongside Optimus. Gary Chalk was at his best, striking the perfection balance of stern commander and warm father figure. I love Peter, but Gary is my favourite Optimus voice actor.
This show was my intorduction to the Transformers franchise. The toys were dope as fuck and the designs of sime of the bots like Optimus, Starscream and Scourge are really awesome. Sure its objectively kinda meh....but to me it has major nostalgia factor.

I definitely think Cybertron is the best show of the entire UT just by being one that feels the most entertaining. Also that Optimus vs Galvatron fight with Optimus sending Galvs to the moon was beautiful.

You know, after watching lots of pieces of entertainment that follow the logic of "ThE WooOorLD iS DaaARk aNd EEeEdgYYY" and try really hard to be DaAaRk, eEeDgY and "MaTuRe", it's nice and refreshing to know that there are actual pieces of entertainment, such as Transformers Cybertron that understand the simple concept of "You know, there is lots of good in this world and being a good person is good." and are simply optimistic and fun. Thanks for that great review Markscaper.
I was obsessed with this show as a kid, I’m glad any time I see Cybertron get some love.
Transformers Cybertron is just nice. And sometimes that all a show needs to be.
This personally is my favorite Transformers show of all time and I was so happy to have an Optimus that can be flawed and interesting characters and just have so much fun with the show! I will say though (and I tell most people this) that you’ll probably need to sit with the show for about the first 10 or so episodes as it takes a bit for the show to hit it’s stride.
As for Megatron/Galvatron he does have a reason for what he’s doing - well partly. You see Galvatron throughout the show is being influenced by Unicron. It’s actually canon that the “Armor of Unicron” was created when Megatron took Unicron’s damaged spark and formed it into armor. That and Megatron and Starscream escaping from the Sun that was made at the end of Energon caused the Black Hole. Megatron in the series has a god complex - hence why he wants the Omega Lock and Cyber Planet Keys - with that power, the power of Creation and Destruction along with the power he now has from Unicron, he can destroy the Universe and create a new Universe as he sees fit. Something completely under his control. Why he’s fallen so far to the point of wanting to destroy the Universe is the influence of Unicron. Unicron’s purpose to bring the end of the Transformers Multiverse… we have never gotten a reason of why or what his goal are beyond that but that is his purpose. That is Galvatron’s new purpose although in Galvatron’s mind he wants to also make the Universe his, so his plan is he wants to remake the universe as he wants it to be. One where he is in complete control.
Also another interesting visual note of Unicron’s Influence comes back to something that was noted in the show: the color of the Cyber Keys. Specifically Planet X keys. Because Planet X didn’t have a Cyber Key… they never had any fragment of Primus’ power… so the question arises, where does Sideways and Soundwave get their Cyber Keys from? And if you know about these characters that answer is simple - Unicron. Now who else in the series gets an Orange Cyber Key over time? Galvatron. When he upgrades his Key becomes Orange. It symbolizes the influence on Galvatron has strengthened to a point he’s not even pulling power from Primus for his Cyber Keys… but from Unicron. Another point towards Galvatron being essentially influenced and could even be argued as being a Unicron-like Character at the end of Cybertron.
Yes, this. Throughout the entire trilogy people claim that Megatron has inconsistent character between series but he’s literally upgraded and revived and might as well be bathing in unicron, corrupting him until we get Cybertron Megatron where all that’s left is the ambition from Armada but with the thirst for destruction of unicron. It’s even implied by the dvd that introduces transformers (Optimus Prime vs Megatron the ultimate battle) where Optimus mentions that Megatron every time he changes forms or color schemes he seems to get worse and worse. Due to troubled production I feel like a fair bit of information was missing so people have to fill those gaps in but for some reason transformers fans decided that is too hard and just lazily said seperate and call the trilogy bad when it’s instead some of the best TF has to offer
This show is what got me into Transformers in the first place. I'll never forget the moment when I saw Galaxy Convoy combine with Ligerjack for the first time. Such an epic moment. Also I prefer the japanese version (Galaxy Force) simply because the music placement is more fitting/appropriate. Speaking of the music... wow was it good. Glad you still enjoy it to this very day :)
Cybertron starscream is one of the best if not the best starcream design post g1
6:35, the last hurrah of a generation until Hasbro hit it off with Universe and Animated and the live action movies. That was like years ago. Ahhh,man. Those feels as a kid.

I will admit, this is the show that got me into Transformers as a kid. Now it has problems looking back, major one in fact, but I can’t dislike this show. It can be fun. Really fun. Especially with the fight scenes. Seriously, I love the how crazy the fights get. But with all that aside, I like this review series and this is probably my favorite review so far.

Cybertron is my second favorite tf series. Equal standing with animated for its positivity and hope.
Cybertron's theme song remains burned into my mind ever since I was a kid.
I love this show so much also because of the same reasons that you have stated its a feel-good show and it's not angsty and brooding like TFP
Also, Optimus Prime in this show had a level of energy that would make him a worthy 10th member of the Braves (You know, the Yuusha series!)
Can we talk about how amazing some of the transformations were? Sideways in particular had my favorite one. I never got tired of watching the stock footage because of that. The sound design is incredible also--every time they transformed, every single movement sounded like several thousand tons of metal clanking onto or crashing into itself.
Cybertron and energon were my entrance to transformers as a series and the animation can be epic. I love cybertron and i like the aesthethic of energon

I think you hit the nail in the head. Cybertron was my introduction to Transformers. Would watch it after school everyday, recorded it on VHS tapes, had the toys, all that good stuff. I found and rewatched a few episodes that are up on RUclips a couple days ago. And yeah, some of the writing and dialogue is wonky, some of the animation is stiff, the plot isn’t particularly strong, some of the voice acting is a bit odd. None of these elements are terrible per say but there’s a lot of roughness throughout. But Cybertron is just so endearing, so genuine, stylish, good spirited, and it has a sense of humor. It’s a show that’s easy to be charmed by. And I’ll always remember it fondly

I think that when it it comes to character, Cybertron is the best Transformers show in general. Optimus Prime and Sideways are more jovial and humourous compared to Armada, Thundercracker rivals Waspinator as funniest punching bag, Ransack and Crumplezone do the "Dumb and dumber" duo better than Demolishor and Cyclonus/Snowcat, Lugnutz is a stoner, Crosswise is basically a Transformers Simon Belmont, Soundwave is a rapping DJ, there's a Transformer that turns into a stoplight, and there's an entire planet inhabited by Scottish robots, and I haven't mentioned that Coby, Lori, and Bud are my favourite human characters in the entire franchise. I never NOT have fun rewatching this show.

Also Thunderblast was a Decepticon bimbo, Scourge, while ruling a planet inhabited by robots who become beasts with an iron fist, was still honorable and not fully evil plus he was kinda conflicted being a Decepticon.
I feel like Scourge and Menasor have that in common. They're not inherently "evil", they're just INCREDIBLY flawed individuals who had good intentions, allowing them to be manipulated by Megatron. Scourge wanted to uphold his planet's customs, and Menasor wanted to usher in a new era on Gigantion that didn't involve building for no reason.

Actually, Cybertron is it's own show that has nothing to do with Armada and Energon. In the original Japanese version it was called Galaxy Force and it was meant to exist in its own separate reality.

This show definitely has its flaws and goofy moments, but it was THE show that got me into Transformers in the first place! It's a huge staple from my childhood that still has a special place in my heart, and crazy as it may sound, it changed my life forever. ❤💙

I remember renting the dvd with the first few episodes of the show from Family Video back in the day it was so cool to me that I ended up renting it over and over again.
The reason why megatron makes no sense in this is because in Galaxy Force (what this show was in Japan) it had nothing to do with the trilogy. And megatron planned to use the black hole to reset the universe so he could take control and rule the cosmos. Since they forced cybertron to be apart of the trilogy, many characters and motivations don’t make sense.
Yeah in Cybertron they didn't mention that till the end with when he's like "I'll reshape the universe in my image" or something like that, ngl it did make me curious to see what he was gonna do next so that line just tied up everything happened beforehand

I love this show, as much as Armada, and probably better than Energon. One thing that bugs me is Jetfire, but that is just me being so used to Scott McNeil as Jetfire TBH.
Cybertron was the last transformers show of many things
-it was the last transformers show to have Garry chalk as optimus and David Kaye as megatron which if you count beast wars and beast machines then they would have voiced the characters for 10 years
-it was the last transformers show to have a full Canadian voice cast with again Garry chalk and David Kaye but with also the likes of Scot McNeil the voice of dinobot, rattrap and waspinator as snarl and even Richard Newman the voice of rhinox as vector prime so they did want to go out with a bang
-it was the last time hasbro and takara worked together on a transformers series with every incarnation after this being hasbro centered and their collaboration being a thing of the past
And it was the last transformers show to be produced in Japan (well if you don’t count transformers go but then again that was a web series so I don’t really count it) and to get an English dub
Cybertron is a show that will never impress critics like ever, but it is very fun I won't lie. In a lot of ways, it does actually feel like a celebration of the franchise since it was the last show before the Bayverse kind of revived the franchise. Also, it's kind of amusing how ridiculous the power scaling in Cybertron is, taking moons to the face, Characters going faster than light, going through black holes and wormholes, generating black holes, and scaling to Vector Prime and Primus. It is kind of funny, Vector Prime has gained a bit of a reputation for being one of the most powerful beings in the transformers multi-verse but it is honestly hard to tell just looking at this show just because of how powerful everyone is.

I’m glad my childhood got attention and got identified as a good show for once
I absolutely loved Transformers: Cybertron as a kid. It was the first Transformers show I was allowed to watch as a kid, my mom didn't want us watching violent stuff growing up; but I had a couple of toys from Armada that began my obsession before I knew it. I can still repeat the intro narration verbatim to this day, Optimus taught me how to pop my neck, and I loved the designs of the characters in the show. Seeing another prime was awesome as well, and if memory serves me correctly I found it impressive as a kid that they actually put one of the kids in danger and had to give him a cybertronian insecticon clone body for him to survive.
The reason Cybertron feels like a sequel and not a sequel to Armada & Energon is because the Japanese version called Galaxy Force was sort of like a reboot of the last two and it did its own thing. However when it was brought into the US, it was retconned to be a sequel to the last two.
The inconsistencies were explained in-universe to be temporal disturbances caused by the black hole which in-universe is called the Unicorn Singularity created when the Energon Sun in Energon failed to contain Unicorn's spark and blew up, in turn freeing Megatron and Starscream who were plunged into the Sun in the last show. The black hole not only threatened to consume the universe but it also altered time as well. In Galaxy Force, the black hole was the result of the destruction of an unidentified "Dark God".
Also Jetfire's Australian accent is explained in his toy bio that he aquired it from spending time on Nebulon.

Watching this show as a kid, i had no idea this was a “sequel” to energon. So it blew my mind when i saw Kicker at the end

I loved transformers Cybertron . Even when went back to watch it I think your interpretation is accurate. It is a feel good show classic good versus evil story, nothing complex

This is my favorite TF show hands down and I wish that its style would come back, I personally believe that the studio responsible for it was what made it not part of the trilogy when every other party had that as the intention (basic story outline, character designs especially megatron) so both Takara and Hasbro had to do their thing to mend the unintentional split.
the show takes a hell of a lot of elements from the Brave series which fans of the Transformers Cybertron would probably enjoy and many of the "DBZ esque moments" are actually predated by the Brave Series as an example of what I mean.
Ever thought about watching the Brave Series, I imagine it would be a fun ride just know that despite it being called the Brave Series, the entries all have nothing to do with each other story wise but instead are standalone stories with similar themes and ideas (though King of Braves:GaoGaiGar breaks a lot of the mold supposedly so it may be somewhat refreshing to watch if the formula gets old)
The music on this show was god tier.
Everyone hating the auto bots in the last few was always one of my least favourite parts of the movies, like how many times do the same giant robots (well until you killed them and they needed replacing) need to save your planet for you to understand that you’re dead meat without them
A show about The Power of friend ship about people working together. A show that is mostly Light hearted with some very dark moments where almost everyone get's a happy ending. Is, Is this The Transformers version of DIU but with a different goal for the heroes and a less driven main villain
I watched this show as a kid back in like 2006 and I swear to god starscream formed my opinion on why the cocky and over arrogant characters are always my favorite in any story
I can agree, the way that Crumble Zone and Ransack got recruited was as goofy as Starscream's coronation.

Much like with Energon I never watched Cybertron except for it's Japanese counterpart Galaxy Force. If you that version it's clearly not in canon with Energon / Superlink which is kind of baffling why they try to force it to be connected with the previous series. The series is also has that Brave series feel to it like Exkaiser, Mightgaine and of course Gaogaigar. A lot of bravery and courage sprinkled into it (considering the Brave series is like the cousins to Transformers). This was animated better than Energon and is one of Studio Gonzo's later works in the 2000's. I agree some arcs really dragged but it was a more fun show than I expected it to be.

This show was my introduction to Transformers. I would watch it every morning on Cartoon Network before school.
This is what I heard the original studio in Japan who made the show the original plan was to connect Cybertron to Armada and Energon but then something happened either they didn't want to or through miscommunication they wrote Cybertron as its own Standalone show with no connection to the previous two.
it was the English dub crew who had to scramble to come up with a script to somehow connect Cybertron to Armada and Energon when in the original Japanese run it's clear that Cybertron is its own Standalone thing so if you take that into consideration I think in my eyes the English dub crew performed a miracle.
What could have made sense for a Transformers tv show that would be similar to Transformers: Cybertron that involves Cybertronian colonies where it takes place after the war between the Autobots and Decepticons and the antagonistic forces would come from the planets, like cheating racers from Velocitron or ferocious rebels from the Jungle Planet. Something akin to what Transformers Cyberverse's Cybertronian Villans where they have antagonistic beings that, though they aren't Transformers nor allied with the Decepticons but are labeled Decepticons in toy form.
That is what Cybertron is tbf, I just think that the Decepticons aren't really necessary; the best part of Cybertron is exploring these worlds and their backstories and interactions with the inhabitants.
I remember a couple years back I came up with an idea for a rebooted series of Transformers movies. The ending I envisioned was an adaptation of Galaxy Force/Cybertron, and I was thinking something exactly like that: the Autobots split up to deal with separate conflicts on the four colony planets to retrieve the keys, similar to Avengers: Infinity War.
Gosh I love Cybertron, the humor is so great. I actually cried to Vector Prime.

I remember this show a ton cause when my tia started dating her boyfriend (whom she is now happily married to), he would put it on for me and let me watch this on their laptop (I forget if it was his or hers). I think they were babysitting me, or maybe she was babysitting me and he would just show up, but I would legit be there for like two or three hours while he and my tia hung and he would ask me about it or I’d tell him what happened in the episode I just watched. Good times, I always look fondly on this series.
I think Optimus should never have whatever color mouth/lips he has in this show, ever again.

This was my transformers as a kid. Dad or my big sis picked up the set of this on dvd, and this is where I fell in love with Optimus. Heck, this is influencing what I’m doing to “fix” the Baytransformers in a fanfic protect.
If I remember the black hole in the series was the cause of unicron death in energon
Cybertron has the best soundtrack and the reason why it might not be related to energon was because in japan it was it own series not related to the trilogy and hasbro had to make fix it a bit to make sense out of this with some of the comic explaining the deeper details and this megatron gives off beast wars megatron vibe
I think it was just the studio that screwed it up, not even the japanese side of transformers as a whole just the studio since even takara ended up tying it into the other 2 shows later on

@@keldeostudies149 the basics? If you’re taking about Chris Mcfeely’s videos he didn’t go into any depth other than what happened instead of intention however that part is more so speculation with some evidence that supports it than actual stated fact
I'm sure someone will have said it before, but Galaxy Force/Cybertron was supposedly made independently to Micron Legend/Armada and Superlink/Energon, hence the difference. IIRC Energon had to be cut short due to Budgeting issues
Funnily enough, the only connection the series has to Energon is actually the central premise of the series: the Grand Black Hole, created when the Energon Sun used to contain Unicron's spark collapsed.
@HispasatBot True, but IIRC, it is said in both versions that the Black Hole was created by the destruction of Unicron (though Unicron isn't mentioned by name in Galaxy Force)

@@OptimusPhillip not necessarily there’s other parts of the series that with previous context could add context tying things together like remember how it was (erroneously) said that transformers combining was never heard of before? I believe what they meant was that it should be impossible because by the end of Energon they used their combination sparks to combine together for the final battle with mentions that they could all perish doing that and while they are fine in the end I speculate they burned out their combination sparks making combining impossible but the combinations seen in Cybertron are granted by the Primus’ power through cyber keys reformatting bodies or say rebuilding a transformer in Energon thus despite the loss of the combination spark Optimus combining is through the Primus’ forethought and not evidence that cybertron and Galaxy force are completely seperate that should never be together (or whatever the TF fans who don’t like tho notion for whatever reason)
One can even tie armada into this using the Star Saber and Atlantis, it’s mentioned that Atlantis through some unknown means sunk in cybertron and in Armada we are told of an ancient civilization that utilized the Star Saber causing great destruction culminating in a war against the Skyboom Shield, what if in those ancient times the Star Saber was utilized to sink the Atlantis explaining the aggression behind most of the inhabitants against humans with Smokescreen and Evac working to lock them away for causing harm to the native population

I never watched armada and after going through my transformers cartoons I actually have a disk that had episodes of this show on it but still Energon is my favorite I feel it had the most interesting story and visuals
Cybertron isn't perfect and have a huge continuity error, but I still enjoy it with DragonBall z vibes and it's way better that Energon.
it's more like the Brave Series than DBZ in style (many of the so called moments are misattributed as well from my understanding)

@@dontemorgan1517 that’s Brave Exkaiser facing off against Dino Geist aired in 1990 before Toriyama had the idea on paper, robots turning golden or glowing golden predates DBZ with the Brave series and possibly Transformers Victory

@@dontemorgan1517 most people in the west haven’t, but in the context of japan it was a very popular series beloved to this day which Takara made the toys for as well though studio Sunrise were the ones who made the TV show to go with them
I’m pretty sure Optimus’ head wasn’t an animation error. It was him before scanning a new form.
cybertron is one of my all time favorite series of transformers since it had a feeling of adventure with great battles as well
yes it's has it flaws but i can ignore them for abit.
