- In this video Josh and Courtney sit down and discuss selling on eBay. Some of you may know (and some might not) that this is the primary gig of JC Cycle. We sell used parts on eBay. We aren't experts, but we have been doing it for 4+ years and thought maybe we would share some of what we do. If you are wanting to know more about selling on eBay, maybe this will help. If you are an expert eBay seller, maybe you could give us some pointers.
If you stick around to the end, you will here a little bit of our story and how we got started!
Be sure to check us out at jc-cycle.com
Thanks for the priceless info
How much does it cost to list an item? Does Ebay take a cut when you sell? I have a bunch of motorcycle accessories, some new, that I need to sell.
Hey! It depends on a lot of things but it it usually costs around 20% to sell on eBay.
Dont Mention you will take the return if item is broken because they will break it in order to return the item anyway my experience
Yikes! We haven’t experienced that.
Loved the video guys! Lots of insightful experience. Aaand I couldn’t help but be mesmerized by all the gorgeous mullet flips. 🤩
Haha! Thanks for watching!
Kickass video, I really appreciate the wisdom! Honestly, you guys should do a whole series like this. I would love to hear more about the behind the scenes aspect of parting the bikes out.
Like videos on what type of bikes, brands, years or models you look for, or try to stay away from when looking for good bikes to part out. Or if you do find a good deal on a bike, what are the higher value parts that you are looking for when youre inspecting the bike? Is it the tank? Carbs? Ect.
Your cleaning set up is something else I'm super curious about. I think a video on your cleaning and part inspection process would be incredibly valuable. Or how do you organize and keep track of that many parts?
I dont really see any videos like that on youtube and I think you guys are perfect for it. Anyways, love what you've posted so far, keep up the good work.
Thank you SO much for watching and for the super thorough message. We really appreciate it. We will definitely see if we can put our heads together and come up with some more content along these lines. Again, we really appreciate your support! Take care 🤘
I hate the customers that purchase your part for a lowball offer then starts asking questions on what it fits 🤦🏻♂️
I had one asked 20 questions and wanted more pictures afterwards only to tell me he didnt like something about it and wasnt going to pay for it. Blocked immediately and reported to Ebay..🙄
It’s wild out there! 🤣🤘
I do a limit on my best offers to prevent lowballs. I make my offer limit the lowest I am willing to take. Video games are the worst for lowballers. Not sure if its just people trying to get something for nothing like you said or if they are also resellers trying to get it cheap to resell for their own.
I do free shipping on anything that will cost me $10 to ship and just mark the price up that much. Car parts I make them pay shipping. The shipping pays my time boxing it up. I also dont do returns unless I screwed up or if they do reach out, but they pay for return shipping. If they do all that, I'll refund them no matter what!
Those are all good practices!
Great video! It's nice to hear about real people's experiences with eBay rather than just theory
So true!
what advice would you give when it comes to motorcycle parts what should sold and shipped and what shouldn't be sold
Hey! It is really up to you! We sell mostly everything that we can verify the condition and measurements. Sometimes used motor parts are hard because you don’t always know how many miles or condition of the motor it was taken out of. Bulky items (tanks, fenders, wheels) require more time and patience when shipping but are totally doable. Thanks for watching 🤘
Lots of golden nuggets in this video. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for watching!
Enjoyed the video guys, subscribed too! I have a similar size ebay store based in australia doing the same thing. One tip I have for you is using ''text replacement'' if you are going to continue listing on your phone, it works great for you generic section of you listing instead of cutting and pasting. I was the same as you with returns but i now accept domestic returns, ebay is that buyer focused now they will basically always get their way. Accepting returns and shipping each day qualifies you for top rated which should reduce your fees by around 10% it also helps with the algorithm getting your ads better placement which I figured would cover the odd return here or there as annoying as it is. Keep it up!
Thank you for watching and subscribing. Also thanks for the tip! We appreciate it.
Big country!!!! Haha. Great video. Helps with my research

Hi I watched to the end and commented already but I’d like to see a video or comment on the business side setup (do you have to own a llc or can it be done privately?)
Thank you.
Its pretty difficult, still struggling with sending prices. We dont have the same sending system as in US or UK. Its way to much work.

Hi guys. Great video. I use to part out cars on ebay in the UK for 12 years from 2001 to 2013 and then quit it to emigrated to Australia. I've done a bit here on the side but now slowly getting into motorcycles. I would love to chat to you two for more info and advice. Cheers Heath
Thanks for watching! We would love to connect. If you are on Instagram…. Send us a DM jc_cycle.
Who do you guys ship with ??
We ship through eBay. We primarily use USPS and FedEx.
I’m new to the channel. Love your energy, effort, how well spoken you both are, and the knowledge… much appreciated!
Thank you so much for watching and leaving this great comment! Welcome 🤘
Great informative video you guys are great. Do you guys have any tips on shipping motorcycle fairings
Thank you so much. For a fairing…. Making sure you have a large enough box is key in our opinion. You need space all around to pack the heck out of it. Lots of paper. Lots of bubbles. The thicker the box the better. Thanks so much for watching!
Awesome buddy
Thank you.
Are you shipping any frames? If so how are you shipping them ? Thanks.
Thanks for reaching out! We do not ship frames. If we have one (not often) we list it locally on fb marketplace or Craigslist. Thank you so much for watching and please let us know if you have any other questions.
Very good information! Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
