    "I love free shipping and free returns. I can just buy it, try it, and if I don't like it return it at no cost to me while the seller is out $15-$50 in shipping cost depending on the item. Even items they may have only profited $10 on!" - people who treat eBay sellers like Amazon

      As someone who works in a post office I can confirm what you wrote, some people shop compulsively and are habitual time-wasters. I'd say 80-90% of returns are women returning clothing, many of them are regulars.

    I have sold on eBay for over 26 years now and I am still learning things. For instance, I used to load my pictures one at a time from my laptop into my eBay listing. I just learned a year ago that I can grab a line of pictures at a time, and usually I only need to grab photos from two lines, sometimes three if I am showing all 24 allowed photos. I used to just put my listings in drafts so I could go into my drafts and list my 6 items a day. Now I have learned to schedule my listings so that if I am on vacation, or really busy, I don't have to worry about making the time to go and list those 6 drafts. I am sure I will learn more next year. I am 71, going on 72 on a day that I show with Richard Nixon....darn...I was one day away from sharing my birthday with Elvis!!! The point I am trying to make is that If I can still learn, so can you!!!!!

    I tried free shipping and returns several times over the past 2 years of active selling on eBay. I’ve personally have not found any meaningful impact on sales. I plan to just stick with returns buyer paying return ship.

      One Foot Flipper has a great video on why free shipping doesn't work in most niches. It all boils down to perception. Your discounts look lower when you're offering free shipping, even if you're actually offering a better deal. Sometimes just getting then to click on the offer you sent is half the battle, and a "20% off" offer looks inherently less appealing than a "30% off" offer, even if the prices come out identical.

    Could you do a detailed video on your thoughts concerning Promoted listings and algorithms? Two weeks ago I changed my promoted listings from 4% to 2% . Sales are the same (Record highs all year) and the only difference is more money in my pocket. I have a niche book store. I'm guessing that 50-60% of my books show up on the first page of a search. Right now there are three reasons I use promoted listings.
    1. I'm guessing the algorithm looks for a promoted listing just like it looks for free shipping (I charge shipping so I can offer combined shipping deals)
    2. To show my items below the competition's listings for people searching
    3. For Google Searches. Thanks' Mark

    I’m an eBay seller, and after several of the situations I experienced, I vowed to never offer returns…especially Free Returns. Way to many buyers out there willing to take advantage of us sellers. Most of us are not operating on a 80% profit margin, because many of us work full-time, and don’t have time to frequent garage sales, and estate sales, where items can be had for a fraction of their value. I’m probably lucky if I make 25% to 40% profit on many of my items. Most I may pay $20 for an item, and after all fees, make about $27. Now we have to pay another 20% of that profit for federal taxes, bringing the profit down to around $5.60. If I were to offer free returns on these items, then I would probably lose almost as much I had paid for the item.

    I sell on ebay, and have become very leery of sellers. I don't look at free shipping or at returns. I look at who is selling in a 200 mile radius of my house. I live in Kentucky so, I'm looking to knock off all those Chinese sellers that have U.S. address. The 200 mile radius lets me know safer shipping, they may be a drop shipper from Walmart which I don't mind. I have most of the local sellers in my area saved, if I do run into a problem I take them off my saved seller list. I have free returns on my store but, not free shipping. It cost to much to get things to California and New York. Thanks for the video

    Can you speak to pro and cons of markdown sales? I tried sales from 15-40% off items multiple times. Seems like no matter how low the price buyers still want an fee more bucks off or send even lower offers. Yes, I get sales but feel by running the sale items are selling below market or for less then I would have sold without running the sale. I keep a small shop 100-150 so maybe it different for larger resellers.

    • @5797029
      @5797029 11 месяцев назад +3

      Good question.
      Some of these are easy. Others, not so much.
      I find using all or most of the "full" years in the title work best for me.
      I sacrifice other key words to get the years in the title. For some reason the 04 05 06 07 doesn't always work, but 2004 2005 2006 2007 always works.
      What are the most important things a buyer will search for?
      Year, brand or model and part.
      Think like a buyer.
      Search example; 2006 Ford Explorer mirror.
      In this case model (Explorer) is actually more important than (Ford).
      As a seller, we know it fits other years (2005) also.
      By using the 2004-2007, you miss the 2005 & 2006 years. It will usually show up way down the list.
      Using 2006, it shows up at or near the top depending on Promotion, price, account health, etc.
      If you are not promoted in a crowded category, you are usually doomed to being down listed.
      Use a device not logged into your account to test the effectiveness of your titles. Or have a friend do it for you.

    You know, eBay in my opinion has never tried to get younger even though the generation of spenders is younger. They tend to stay safe with their ads targeting automotive. If you sell what eBay is promoting and paying for advertising, you'll find yourself finding faster sales and more profit. I've sold so many weather tech stuff for different vehicles. That's what I went searching for after seeing eBay ads on TV and gosh darn it, it sold so quick it was ridiculous. That and I've gotten zero returns because everyone has exact part numbers.

    The term "quality item" is subjective and therefore can be misleading. One person's quality item may be an Aiwa receiver (cheaper, lower quality), while another person's quality item may be a Pioneer Elite receiver (more expensive, higher quality). It's all perspective. I've sold a lot of items in my 25 years that I thought nobody would really want, but I took a chance. It may sit longer or have a low-to-no sell-through rate, but the right buyer found it. In the end, that's what mattered! (On the flip-side, I've listed "hot" items with great sell-through rates and could never get them sold no matter what I did.) The point shouldn't be don't sell these things at all. The point should be don't flood your eBay store with those things and expect instant sales. Love your content, but sometimes I just disagree with some of it.

      I'm sorry for the delay but no, I'm sell homemade holistic salves I have sold well over a hundred of one type along with mixed amounts of other blends I had a good base of return customers and comments like my mom or friend liked it so much they took it so I have to reorder this is why something is going terribly wrong! Now the competition is there but with good pricing great product and super fast shipping I was tearing it up. Since this has happened I have listed a silver coin (always a great seller) at market price and not a hit or question! I'm desperate here I wasn't making a ton of money but it was getting off to a great start. Now does there AI look at post on face book like political type? @@JrideFlips

    Hey! I've been trying to catch a live as I have a question I think you would be able to answer... how do you handle requests for activation codes for stock radios? I just listed my first one and I don't have a code to give out, and they say they can't install without it. Thx

    • @JrideFlips
      @JrideFlips  11 месяцев назад

      with out the code You will need to sell those for parts. You can sometimes find the codes online or calling the dealership

      @RacheyBoBachey 11 месяцев назад +1

      Ok thanks! So do you list yours with the activation code? Or for parts?
      When I called the dealership they said they would need the VIN of the vehicle it's going into and /or came from, and I couldn't really know that in advance. Same for the websites.
      I guess I should list as parts then...

      @@RacheyBoBachey did the dealership say they would give out a code if they had a vin number? Or would only give the code if they were installing a part themselves? If you don’t know, it’s all good, i of course could figure this out when/if ever needed. Just curious if you got any more details because it seems like a customer would be OK with buying the part used on eBay if all they have to do is call the dealership? Perhaps it’s some kind of way to prevent or track theft. But most likely it’s a way for Big Auto to prevent re-sells so they can make the $$

    WOW your giving this platform too much credit mate. The amount of money we've all lost this year on Ebay is astounding. Now your kissing their behinds! Even by Q4, WHEN IT REALLY MATTERS, they dont have their Seeeat together and we will continue to loose more money because of the blunderous updates to the platform without real testing!!!!

    For the record, I have been on ebay platform for 8 years as a full time. Your argument makes NO SENSE at all. What you are talking about is basic 101. In the end, it doesn't matter if you have the best price, best pictures, etc... b/c your item is not shown to buyers. I know this is a FACT b/c I called ebay few months ago and I was luckily enough to transfer over to sales dep rep and he said that my items was not being shown in the back end even though it appeared to be active on seller end. Look at your advertising dashboard, the promoted outpace organic 20 to 1 or more, ebay is suppressing organic view, this is a FACT. Organic should NOT be flatline, there should be peaks and valley. To combat the suppression, you have to NOT end/relist but do sell similar relist
