I will definitely look for that spectrum album. You did a perfect job. This is exactly what I wanted for the video. Will keep you posted on when I find some of these.
Jeez Khristian, How did this one get by me? Once again, your recommendations for each and every one of these records were spot on. I was happy that you choose the first Jack Bruce album instead of some of the others that he released. This one I got into fairly recently and was surprised how good it was. > The Hubert Laws is one that I am writing down as I write to you now. How do I do both at the same time do you ask? I don't. I have paused the video. I am being silly. Please do not mind me. That Chris Hinze Combo sounds cool. Thankfully I the Kate Bush, Blondie, Laurie Anderson and the Maryann Faithful albums. I actually bought the MF and Blondie during my first year of college. I believe that all of these were released right around the late seventies/early to mid eighties. We never had a shortage of incredible albums coming out back then Khris. There were times when I literally could not afford to go and buy new releases because the were coming out every other week. Thanks for taking the time out to do this. I don't know if you are a fan of Record Store Day but I just posted a video showing some of the albums that I got. I would love to hear your thoughts on RSD. Writing to you from the very c~o~l~d 14℉ Massachusetts~ Rob/Boston
Hey Rob, Thanks again mate. No doubt the late seventies would've been amazing for new releases. What a great time it must've been to have been in college. I was born in 78 so obviously missed it:-) had a great time in the 90s though with great music! All these records are classics and I'm so glad to be able to have found them for cheap. The Hubert Laws one is pretty cool. I hope you find it:-) Nice chatting with again buddy! Take care. - Khristian.
Cool stuff, Khris. I remember getting a couple of these way back when for next to nothing. Good to see they still are. 'Big Science' is one of those classics always in plain sight. 'Sonic Seasonings' is an all-time favorite of mine. Love Kate Bush, don't have that one yet. Lately I'm having better luck with CDs price-wise and taste-wise, though good to know there's still more accessibility with some of these. Thanks for sharing these. Good seeing you. -Carm
+Gorvo31 Hey Carm. Yep all classics for sure. You're right. Cd's these days are so cheap these days. I remember buying all my cds in high school at around $30 a piece. Its funny. We live in such a fickle world. I'm waiting for the day for it to spin around again and vinyl is less sort after. But who am i kidding!! Thanks for checking these out. Nothing new but a fun little idea anyhow. Take care - Khristian
Siren05 Yes, fickle indeed. I'm guessing in another 10 years or so it'll probably be like the 90's with vinyl being cheaper and CDs being collector's items....Could be way off, though I have a feeling....;-)
Thanks for the Roberta reminder. That is a real good Jack album....his later solo ones i think differently. Laurie, so avant garde. That is a great Mariann. Blondie is a great one to include......check HeArt of Glass if you have. The Disco version or not....the one without is early better press. Yay, Kate.....great job! Trying to find that Wendy Carlos, that interested me....Fun, Steve
+FlipSideCT Hey Steve, I had a feeling you would dig a lot of these. Your tastes are broader than most and i have you pegged as a bit of an eighties music fan (among other stuff). Glad you enjoyed the selection. The Wendy Carlos is an ambient/instrumental album worth checking out. Take care mate. - Khristian
Good pick on First Take. Lovely music and one of my favorite covers, I have two copies, one in the shelves for playing and one framed on the wall. Used to see it in thrifts quite a bit but not so much anymore. Got a spare copy of Broken English right next to me here I found in a thrift recently for a couple of dollars. Blondie still pretty easily available but even some of the other 80's stuff is getting scarcer around my area, I've only seen one copy of Big Science for cheap I believe. Cheers Khristian!
+Doug A. Hey Doug. Cheers man! Yep all classic stuff. Its funny how these records seem to be everywhere but get skipped over and yet they are of such high quality (musically). Classics for a reason i guess. Cheers. - Khristian
Great tips. It's funny how some of these I have seen but didn't pick up. For sure next time I see one of them, I get them. There are so many records to discover, Chris Hinze, never heard of it...and I'm Dutch, very curious now.
+X junkie NL Hey thanks for commenting and stopping by here. These are all top quality records in my opinion. The Chris Hinze is great and well worth checking out. Cheers -Khristian
Did you buy all those locally at the shops? None of those would sell for under $10 at my Local record shop, although several would go for $10 a pop. I did get a couple of $10 records from them recently(Wall of Voodoo and The Vapours) but most would start at $20 and up. I recently got that Hubert Laws album, and several others and paid $20-$30 each. That Chris Hinz Albums is great and I use to have it too. Keeping my eye out for another copy. I recently picked up a reissue copy of that Marianne Faithfull record, it is her best record and an absolute classic, we thrashed it when we were younger.
I like some of these. First Take, pick of the bunch. Funny old world, this one will cost you $5 yet worth $5,000 plus, other vinyls will cost you $5,000 yet worth $5.
+jaco russell Haha! You're spot on there man! Funny indeed. These records are classic and in all stores for good reason. There are a lot of lesser known records out there that are awesome, but obscurity and rarity seldom means high quality , at least in my humble experience anyway. Cheers - Khristian
Great thread concept.Where I am some of those records would for sure be overpriced in our local second hand stores, even seen Blondie albums going for a tenner or more.I found a really cheap copy of Lord Of The Rings in a charity/goodwill shop(where I've made many of my best scores).Big Science is great have it on both vinyl and cd,both cheap finds.Going on Euros here don't think theres much difference between 10 Euros and 10 US dollars. That Walter Carlos was for sale for silly money in one of my local stores, nearly 20 Euros and someone bought it!I bought Spectrum as a cd at a Billy Cobham gig, cost a little more than average but got it signed by the man himself so well worth it.
Les McCann ( Presents ) Roberta Flack ? ( Did not know that ).Love Blondie, they opened for the Kinks '77ish, Houston Collesum, Great show. Thanks for posting.
+Tom Connelly Hey Tom. Thanks for commenting on here. Its funny, i only noticed that Les McCann Presents... on the reverse sleeve as i was pulling out these records to show before i made the video. I was quite surprised as well. Blondie and The Kinks.... Wow! What a show that must've been! Take care mate -Khristian
+Siren05 During the Kink's song "Celluloid Heroes" Ray Davies had his guitar polished like a mirror, spotlight on (him/it) he shined a light on everyone's face in that building.Don't get me started on"Oh Demon Akahol", with his Heineken Beer splashing on the audience.
As far as new records go you'll be hard pressed to find one under $10 unless they end up in a sale bin. There are still a ton of good older records you can find for under $10. You displayed quite a few yourself in this video. Take care
+erick medeiros Hey man! For sure. I don't have much interest in 'new' or repressed records, unless its impossible to find an early pressing. But all these i showed are pretty available secondhand of course :-) Cheers for commenting mate. Hope you're doing well. - Khristian
+Siren05 I have no problems with reissues but I do prefer older records because of the nostalgia and I'm sure I'm not alone on this one but most of all it's because I feel like I'm holding a piece of history in my hand. I for one love the smell of an old record. I should start making candles and I'll call them "Vintage Vinyl HaHa! Cheers!

You would definitely dig that Cobham record.

Great response dude. Thank so much. Lots for me to discover here. I think I have that Roberta album. I definitely know it.
