+Euphonious Monk Hey thanks heaps for subscribing and for watching the vid. Im so glad you found some things you like here. Cool handle by the way. Clever!! Cheers - Khristian
Hi, Khristian, Plug7 shop sounds cool. E2-E4 score! Will check Polyversal Souls and that Siembra record. The 7" singles you showed look very cool. The Moodists! Sweet label indeed. I can understand the fascination, every now and then I order 7" singles from 90s Glaswegian bands. They always have such nice picture sleeves and interesting B sides. Not something I can find in LT. Very nice Ash Ra Tempel and Michael Naura. I found about him and that Vanessa record after watching Fred's video first. Naura was born in my hometown. Thanks for sharing. -Birutė
+juodaavis Hey Birutė, Yes! You would totally dig this store. Actually, probably most of the stores here you would dig! With the 7"s, i cant help myself, especially the late seventies/early eighties Post Punk and Garage stuff. They just look so cool and they are usually handmade items that just have so much more spirit about them than any LP that was mass printed and put out on major labels. I admit i don't play them often but i collect them in a way, for archival and historical significance mainly:-) I know, pretty lame right? haha! Hey, how was Terry Riley? Was it "mind blowingly awesome"? I thought you would know the Vanessa record already as i made sure to point out his Lithuanian heritage (directed at you specifically), but i had no idea he was born in your hometown. Wow! That's pretty cool. Great album too. Thanks again for watching. Speak soon. - K
Hey. I sure would. I just got back from the concert, it was pretty amazing. I wish I could have grabbed a CD or two, but had to run so that I could catch the last bus. Cheers, speak soon. -Birute
Nice hauls man, very cool to see the first latin record you showed on fania, i am only aware of that name because of the Ray Barreto connection. So unusual so see a glued outer sleeve.E2-E4, major major score, i assumed that was a discogs store, not in the wild! I hear what you are saying about the au-go-go collecting thing, i may be the same with flying nun haha. As said before, loved seeing that mint chicks. Loved your thoughts on the 7inch, i get where you are coming from for sure. Monster on the Ash Ra Tempel, very cool to see that as usually i've only seen photos of it haha.Still haven't heard the Vanessa. Looking forward to seeing you Sunday man!
+James Buttery Haha! Thanks mate! Yep, I just feel a real connection with the label and the scene. Its not even that all the music is that great. Some of it is pretty sub par, but its one of those things i guess. I just love em'. Cheers mate. Catch ya on the weekend! K
Then Play On is a very good album with Peter Green on guitar. Very cool 45s. Like you I collect Punk 45s, mainly picture sleeves. I enjoy seeing picture sleeve 45s especially of independent bands and labels. Nice 1st pressing copy of Ash Ra Tempel. The vinyl looked nice and shiny. take care
+Vinyl Richie Cheers Rich. Yeah the Ash Ra is a beauty! Very happy with it. Most of my 45s are punk and post punk bands from between the 1978-1985 period in Australia. A great scene and period. The F Mac record is brilliant. Sadly overlooked due to the reputation of the second chapter of the bands successes. I really like it. Thanks for chiming in here mate! - Khristian
Hello Khristian, Good to see you again and it is good to hear that the weather is tightening up to the warmer side. You guys are so fortunate that another {endless} summer is right around zee corner. > That Siembra album sounds like a good one. Anytime a fellow VC member mentions 'funky' I tend to check it out ASAP. I think I have seen that shown before and I may have it down on my want list notebook. That Fania label has always been one that I liked. I love getting turned onto Australian bands from the 70', 80's, etc. So I searched for 5:15 and found the song 'Don't Think Twice' here on YT. Sounds great and a lot like the Jam. > Nice, I have been looking for a good copy of Ash Ra's 'Schingungen'. Not the easiest album to find in Boston or anywhere else around here. The best way to get it is online I believe. Could you please let me know how that one sounds? You are very fortunate to have nailed a first pressing . I don't think I have watched one video from you yet that you did not show one or two gems in it. A killer collection that you have Khristian. Thanks for sharing these. Always a lesson, always enjoyable~ Rob/Boston
+Paneeks1960 Hey there Rob, Thanks again for the compliments mate! I'm so glad you're still finding things you like on here with me on my channel. I feel grateful! The 5:15 and the Jam, yes you're right. Big time resemblance there. The Ash Ra Tempel has far exceeded my already high expectations as an album. Such a wonderful piece of Krautrock music. I sort of feel like there were a handful of pioneers in that scene that achieved just the right blend of careful composition and a spirit of improvisation on the early records. Amon Duul II. Ash Ra Tempel, Neu! and probably Popul Vuh to a certain extent. These are the founders of the scene and on this particular record (Schwingungen) we really are treated to the enthusiasm of these youthful innovators. Highly recommended! Thanks again Rob and all the best mate! Cheers Khristian
Thanks for the excellent response Khristian. I still have to listen to Neu. I remember Fred speaking highly of them. Popul Vuh as well. Much appreciated. Enjoy the upcoming weekend and the fantastic weather that you guys are probably experiencing lately. Make the best of the spring. Talk soon~ Rob
welcome to the VC, what a cool Fleetwood Mac album ,I've never seen that one, alot of awesome stuff ill have to check out and be on the lookout for , I bet those singles are rare....I look forward to seeing more
+Ben Costello I thought you would have this one. Actually it was seeing your ART debut post that inspired me to say, 'What the hell' and drop the money on it. Thanks for watching Ben. Hope you're doing well mate!
It is proto-techno, amazing album, several years ahead of its time. 7" are cute, and I get you point of view on being pieces of history, I don't collect them as there isn't enough music on them, bein lazy as I am, I have to flip sides too often, can't do that. lol
+sonicmainliner Hey man! Thanks for watching and commenting too. Yep they are cute but you're right, who has the time to flip after one track. I just keep it to Aussie Pic sleeve 7" as an archival project more than anything else. Cheers mate! K
I think I have a single by Whirlwind Heat somewhere. The Ash Ra Temple looks cool. I saw Ben show something by them recently, but they are not a band I have listened to... yet! Take care Kevin
+DocStrangelyStrange Oh man. It really is something special but its got a big price tag on the vinyl pressings. Even the reissues ask a lot. But im sure you can sample it on spotify or youtube. This is the first thing ive heard by Whirlwind Heat but i like it! Thanks for watching mate! Khristian
Right on, Early Fleetwood Mac with Peter Green was the best, After he left there were a few good albums, but once Nicks joined they sucked! Very cool stack of 45's , I love 45's myself, especially the garage and punk 45's. Australia had some great bands in the 80's, 90's and now. I'm very interested in seeing your 45's Thanks for the showings. See ya soon. Randy
+Dead Wax66 Hey Randy, Thanks for commenting mate! I'm glad you found something in here that you liked. Yep! The Fleetwood Mac early records are ace. I only recently started collecting the 45s and, as i mentioned, i try to keep it to one sort of era and strictly Oz stuff otherwise things can get out of hand:-) but i have around 400 or so. Ill do a video on this in the coming weeks. Thanks for the interest mate. Hope to share some more music with you soon. - Khristian
Plug Seven sounds like my kind of place, could probably drop some serious cash there if I ever found myself in Melbourne. Hey, and right off the bat a record I have! Always a nice surprise - have to say that cover art attracted me to Siembra at first, being very much a newbie to latin music at the time (still am, really). Fleetwood Mac, sounds familiar, I may have heard of this band ;-) Great stuff, cheers mate!
+Doug A. Oh yeah Doug! You would love digging in Melbourne. I love the Siembra record. Such a great one. And the Fleetwood Mac....Yes an 'obscure band for sure!!!! hahaha! Take care mate!
Thanks Khristian, keep up the good work!
Love that ECM Vanessa LP, so different, very cool!
