Wow. Some really hateful comments. It is clear that Jared loves drums and loves to teach- so why the hate? Yes the fill is not appropriate for some kinds of music, but its an excellent rudiment and I think Jared is quite smooth at it. If you have hate, keep quiet and let us learn to play the instrument that we all love.
If people are being lames, because they are no good. Can't see a reason to bad mouth this great drummer. BTW, your Tama video Jared, was life changing, and hilarious. Nice job.
I'm grateful for the lesson Jared! Very well put together. Complex simplicity, one of the things I love about drumming. Now, to the few trolls writing demeaning, petty shit, just for the sake of it (you know who you are), this lesson is free. It's a gift. You don't like it, feel absolutely free to NOT WATCH !
I really appreciate you guys at Drumeo. Your lessons, and your attitudes. The positivity is contagious. All the best drummers… what’s not to love. Thank you.
Jarred, with all do respect, i have learned absolutely nothing from your instruction videos. You do not instruct, you demonstrate/showoff ! I tried learning from you over 20 years ago with your youtube videos and they frustrated me so much i gave it up. A year ago I decided to try it again, and came across instructors like Rob brown, Stephan Clark, Jeff Randall, and Mike Barns Drums. These guys are true educators. I know you're an unbelievable drummer, i also know your ability to instruct has hampered my ability to play drums. I'm glad I gave it a second shot and discovered these other instructors. Again, I mean, no disrespect.
amazing lesson cheers buddy heard my drum teacher playing this rudiment in a music shop and it was badass, first rudiment I've ever sat down and learnt.
Learned these in an hour and it never would have occurred to me to play a rudiment fill like this! Pure genius, Jared, your lessons are some of the sparks that fuel my passion for drumming. Keep up the great work!
min 4:20, 32nd notes (as written), are being played more like 16nd note triplets. That's a little mistake there. Just so everyone could know and avoid mistakes.
In same instances more than others there's not enough of a pause (don't want to say rest since there's no rest notated) between the initial crash hit and the subsequent snare note. Couldn't really tell when he brought it up to speed though.
It's weird that you haven't heard back.. They respond to every email... Anyways, I can help :) The ultimate package basically means you get access to the lessons online as well as the DVDs, CDs, and workbooks. The Online Version means you only get the lessons online. No DVDs or CDs. Hope that helps!
I must say there a lot of tutorial videos!!! and there are a lot of great awesome drummers, but it takes a special person to be able to teach those kind of skills!!! and you Jared you got it!! you are awesome you have a talent and a gift....! keep doing your thing I'm your number one fan!
Thanks Jared! Its really great fill when played on snare. I heard some drummer playing fast 6-storke fill and i didnt regognize it right away. A Really good aplication of double stroke roll.
I just started to learn six stroke rolls, in my opinion there are no different note types, every stroke is played with the same note value, so its sixtuplets or how its called, this causes the floating character of that rudiment, ich you play it with 8th and 16th notes it gets another character. it think if you play it with sixtuplepts you kinda fall on the 1 with the stroke before. and you count it the like 1+a 1+a 2+a 2+a 3+a 3+a 4+a 4+a or something. but i'm no teacher or something :) i just recognized from other videos. I think actually you play it with sixtuplets in pattern two, but it is written down with 16th and 8th notes
Who are the 33 people who disliked this video? I mean...it was labeled properly....we all learned something...whats to dislike? I wonder if any video on RUclips ever had 0 dislikes with over 50,000 views? I wonder if thats even possible....sometimes I feel like people dislike a video just to be different...
It's people that are jealous becuase they suck and don't want to work for it. I'm 55 amd started in 1983 and quit for number of years, started back again after 7 years and can still rip singles like Buddy Rich ALMOST, but many rudiments i never learned i suck, that's why i'm here. This kid is great. I'm getting this 6th down, i'm a left hander, only difference with me is i play the HH with my left and ride on the left of a right handed set up. .
Jared! you are perfect for this channel. Thanks for all of the lessons! If I could make a request... break down "Tool's Rossetta Stoned". In the guitar solo the drums use a crazy swiss triplet, quarter notes on the hi-hat, and the bass drum follows the bass guitar. It is an insane drum part. would love to see someone of your caliber break it down in lessons! thanks again for all of the lessons!
location ie room matters, size, carpet or wood flooring, etc... maybe your snare is tuned the same way at your venue as in the store, but the store has different acustics, etc.
Can you make a video where you really explain how to make a smooth 6 stroke roll. When I play R-LL-RR-L it kinda stops there. I don't get the "feel" to jump in again and actually continue and make the roll last longer.
not sure if you are joking or serious, but it's usually used in a plural form as in Chops, or as in He's got serious Chops, it means good hands or skills as in man that dude can play really really good with his hands (knows his rudiments) and or it means has good technique
Hey Jared! Cool and helpful video. Could you maybe be do a Video on how to play that groove you did after that ride and hihat part. Would be great! Thanks
Two questions that ive been dying to ask!! how do you guys tune your snare? its so snappy and i can never get mine to sound like it did from the shop but its too expensive to take it back for a tune. ive got a drum dial but i can work out how to get it so crisp. 2ndly if you guys use a drum dial, what is your top and resonant skin tuned to??
Make the snare side head tight. Took me years to figure this out, but it’s usually that simple. Gives you a short snare wire snap, and high overtones. Hit right in the middle for less overtones, and best crack.
I’m an advanced pro level player (aka lifelong student) and I’m having a lot of fun with this, working it out slowly at first, then finding ways to apply it musically-thanks for great new ideas Jared!
For some reason, when i learned it in marching band, it became natural for me to play it as a sixteenth note sextuplet...we never used six stroke roll much, so it never really became an issue.
Hi, great lesson, I'm a novice drummer can someone help me out. When looking at the sheet music below the video, for example at 4:20, the snare quaver beat moves down a stave from the 2 to the 4. Is there a reason for this, or is it a mistake? thanks :)
Thanks for your response, it does clarifies but the question I send is, what about the Online version. .. can i Download the videos, songs to play along. . .etc.??? (I want to keep it for my self to review it maybe in some years from now. . . . . is all the media Downloadable??? THanks JAred!
thank's for the lesson man.. :D also jared can you make and post some cover again just like you did with cobus playing the beatles before? i really love that.. :D
You initially showed the six stroke roll in sixteenths and eighths, which has gaps, but later played the sextuplet version, which has no gaps-all notes equally spaced. That’s fine, and I prefer that especially for drum set, but you didn’t specify that you were changing the rhythm. Drum corps guys play the square version more than the sextuplet, or round version, and vice versa for set players.
In these exercises I play the six stroke using 16th note triplets, as well as 32nd notes. So it's totally up to the individual how they hear them.
Wow. Some really hateful comments. It is clear that Jared loves drums and loves to teach- so why the hate? Probably the same people who are like " Practice ? Rudiments? LAME Just show me how to blast at 240bpm or GTFO "
If people are being lames, because they are no good. Can't see a reason to bad mouth this great drummer. BTW, your Tama video Jared, was life changing, and hilarious. Nice job.
Preach!

Jared, you are the man. Thank you for what you do.
This is one of my favorite instructional videos on variations on a 6 stroke roll. It's clear and concise. Thank You Jared!
Jared falk demonstrates the six stroke very well

Excellent Work, friend! Thank you for your presentation; I appreciate this greatly!

Jared is one of the best teachers in the world. I've been watching him for years now. ☀
I farted while listening to this and it literally sounded like a six stroke roll.
I laughed out loud at this comment!! 😂
Awesome video Jared, a great rudiment!
Thanks Jared, you're an awesome teacher!

Play it slower and with a metronome, you'll get it. Increase speed over time
@@BB-zp8lu that’s great advice ... I will use my metronome more with this rudiment too 🙏🏼🥁⚡️🥁🇦🇺
Dude great job very to the point stuff. Sweet.
cant wait to get this one down 😍
Six stroke roll is my favorite rudiment I think.
really helpful jared...thanks :)
Keepin it real! Nice stuff guys
Check out this variation RLRLLR basically turns intp a double paradiddle but play the last LLR as a drag then it turns into a single ratamacue
Another great lesson. Thanks guys!!!

👍 I needed that.
Great video, don't have much money but I hope my like and comment helps in some small way!! Ty drumeo for all you do
Hey the thing that I have a lot of trouble with is doing those small strokes on a straight beat. Can you post a video on tips. Or a comment? Thanks
Remember kids, the real prize here: Put playback speed to .5x and it sounds like Jared has had 1 too many drinks👍
I’m an advanced pro level player (aka lifelong student) and I’m having a lot of fun with this, working it out slowly at first, then finding ways to apply it musically-thanks for great new ideas Jared!

That`s really AWESOME!!!!!
No, I believe he is just playing single strokes during the intro of that song. It's a very cool part though :)
what is that smaller china cymbal you have set to your right and level? i love the sound of it.
Can you please break down Gavin Harrison's drum fill at the 3:27 minute mark of "The Creator Has a Masterpiece" please?
Mastertape hehe ☺️
This is the same as the 'Trillion fill' you showed us a while back. It's kind of like a paradiddle-diddle fill
omfg your paistes sound awesome
Thanks for your response, it does clarifies but the question I send is, what about the Online version. .. can i Download the videos, songs to play along. . .etc.??? (I want to keep it for my self to review it maybe in some years from now. . . . . is all the media Downloadable??? THanks JAred!
I f****ng love your videos. They´re amazing and one can learn so much ::))
Amazing men its unbelievaable
Sounds even better when you play this as a single paradiddle
hey Jared !! Thanks alot ! :) :)
i liked the ride, hi hat pattern... awesome
Hey Jared, is Travis doing some kind of variation on Up all night (by Blink-182) of what you did on minute 8:11?
Are there any lessons to help explain really fast single stroke rolls w/ accents, e.g. Jimmy Chamberlin?
Could you please break down at 3:12 - 3:22. Thanks!
Ryle Mendrez Sounds like just a 6 stroke roll to me which would be Rllrrl Rllrrl R accenting the capital R.
It's just played as an equal subdivison
ZC Jared, Nice lesson. Bettina
Great!
thank's for the lesson man.. :D
also jared can you make and post some cover again just like you did with cobus playing the beatles before?
i really love that.. :D
You initially showed the six stroke roll in sixteenths and eighths, which has gaps, but later played the sextuplet version, which has no gaps-all notes equally spaced. Very good!!! Please Jared, translate to spaninsh for people to Argentina.
being self taught, I discovered this roll on my own but I play RRLLRL. it has a different sound and feel to them.
bill nipp hope your arms dont hurt playing that lol
bill nipp lol that is a paradiddlediddle
That sounds like a reverse paradiddle-diddle my man
That’s why this rudiment feels so familiar.
Jared what happened to your dw set?
Why can’t I find this lesson in drumeo I often find drumeo vids on RUclips but then can not find them in drumeo
PRETTY COOL.THANK A LOTS.
real nice.
hi jared, i have been playing drum for about two year, but seem like no major improvement... so how can i improve my drumming skill and drum fills?
You are my hero, i hope to meet you in real life one day
Thanks Mr. Falk :)
what kind of high hats do you use?
What's with the tape on the bottom of your ride?
