========= The Future Of Warfare LYRICS =========
Standing in the line of fire
32 will lead the way
Coming over trench and wire
Going through the endless grey
A desolate wasteland
Infernal depiction of hell
The birth of a new way
September 15, 1916
The first wave approaches
At Flers-Courcelette
Through fire and brimstone
Breaking away, coming your way
Standing in the line of fire
32 will lead the way
Coming over trench and wire
Going through the endless grey
Standing in the line of fire
Moving on and through the fray
Coming over trench and wire
Live to fight another day
The spell has been broken
A new way to wage war has come
The future of warfare
For all to be seen, 1918
The new world approaches
Villers-Bretonneux
Mechanized warfare
Breaking away, coming your way
========== HISTORIC FACT ==========
The Battle of Flers-Courcelette on September 15, 1916, saw the very first tank take on the battlefield. The first tank on tank battle took place on April 24, 1918, during The Second Battle of Villers-Bretonneux. This deadly vehicle was the future of mechanised warfare.

@Nick Martin but keep in mind that the soldier with some of his friends together joins CQB and can't just shoot at any time possible even though it was a good weapon for such kinda engagements it wasn't that superweapon everyone told it was because if it would have been the US would have lost significantly less man. Unlike most Armies at the time the german forces used extensive training and drill for new recruits even during war time and they were on there own even issued only with a rifle , carbine or pistol definitely capable to kill someone with a shotgun cuz I guess the germans were no rabbits but very good trained , drilled and very often battle hardened soldiers what the u.s. mostly didn't had at hand during ww1.

The Somme in a nutshell.
"Wait, what are those barrels it has there?"
Just imagine it, you're a German sitting in your trench, waiting for the next assault of the British forces. And there it comes, however, it was not the British soldiers you were expecting. No, a monster made out of steel appears in front of you. You open fire, but it doesn't even leave a dent on it as it slowly creeps closer and closer. And before you even realize it you and your fellow soldiers have been shot by the monster.
Knowing our tanks it probably broke down before leaving Britain, or was so slow it reached Flanders in 1920.
lol most tank offensives were desasters for the entente because the tanks suffered tremendous casualties german rifles were able to penetrate a tank 100m on an angle of 90 degrees … so called "Geballte Ladungen" and field guns also used to be effective against tanks ... most tank battles were just used for propaganda to tell of victories but yeah sometimes they won some land AND were able to hold it but at the cost of sometimes even 80-90% of their tank corps and hundreds of dead soldiers .
Darth Noòx Just imagine it bonks into a trench in front of you, unable to get out, then starts smoking. You ready your gun awaiting the tank crew to jump out but the hatch is stuck, the crew killed by the failures of the early tank model
@@tokre8880 Yeah, this makes sense. After all, it took whole two more years for the war to end. If the tanks were all the propaganda was making them out to be, it'd have ended either during 1916 or early 1917.
"I was there, in those eternally damned trenches when the tanks came to fight. We could hear them long before we saw them; their presence announced with the deep, rumbling roar of some primordial beast awoken in a metal cage. Smoke drifted into the air in puffs and clouds as the iron lungs of the beasts breathe with only murderous intent, and then they came crawling along on many rotating, linked feet that churned the ground up even further." - A fragment of a super, super short story I wrote a month ago.

Please sing About the Soviet Soldier. Which alone confronted a German tank column. July 17, 1941, during the battle of Smolensk, he covered the retreat of his regiment. Alone, he destroyed 11 tanks, 7 armored vehicles, 57 soldiers and officers of the enemy. The Germans thought that a whole battery was hitting them, but what was their surprise when they learned that they were opposed by only one Soviet soldier. The German officer ordered the burial of Nicholas with all honors. Just imagine! The tanks of Heinz Guderian could not be stopped by either Poland or France, but one 19-year-old Nikolai Sirotinin was able to. I am very proud of my people and my National Fatherland. And I want everyone to know his name. His feat became known as "One in the Field Warrior". He was never awarded the title of “Hero of the Soviet Union”, since very little information was preserved about him. Thanks to everyone who read it. "I am Russian, what a delight!" (Suvorov).
That´s interesting, do you have any other stories we probably didn´t heard of?
This story sounds legit but in some ways it stinks
Poland fought well but then it got attacked by the Soviet Union, meaning they had to fight on 2 fronts.
@@alexsabau5942 We did not attack Poland for the purpose of occupation, but only returned our territories that Tsar Nikolai 2 lost. And Poland left just the same Britain.
@@thewyrm4201 I'm glad you are interested. Here is one of the stories. Olshansky landing. One of the most famous operations involving marines was the Olshansky landing, all 55 soldiers of which received the title of Hero of the Soviet Union (a case unprecedented in the history of the armed forces of the USSR). On March 26, 1944, the 3rd Ukrainian Front began an operation to liberate Nikolaev from German troops. The battle group, which entered into eternity under the name of its leader, senior lieutenant Konstantin Olshansky, was tasked to land in the area of Nikolaev port, holding down the retreating units of the Wehrmacht. On fragile fishing boats, the marines later crossed the Bug estuary, removed the sentries and took up a circular defense in the area of the elevator. The Germans could not even imagine that they were opposed by only one company armed with small arms, and threw three battalions of infantry into the attack with the support of artillery, mortars, and tanks. The evening of March 26th. In an unequal battle, half of the paratroopers have already fallen. Olshansky on a walkie-talkie causes fire on himself, corrects artillerymen. The morning of March 27th. The radio is broken by a fragment of a shell. Only 15 Alshans remain alive. The commander is dying. The Germans use flamethrowers. Marine Marine Valentin Khodyrev, whose arm is already torn off in battle, meets a Wehrmacht tank “in Sevastopol”, with a bunch of hand grenades, detonating the “panzer” with him. The morning of March 28th. A handful of marines repel the eighteenth (!) Attack. Parts of the Red Army burst into Nikolaev. The city is liberated. 47 of the 55 paratroopers died, but the combat mission was completed. In an unequal battle, about 700 Germans were destroyed.

Amazing how far humanity got in nearly half a century of warfare.
From the first tanks crawling across no mans lands in 1916 as machine guns light up the trench lines, with human wave tactics.

you cover your face as small shards of shrapnel, blood and dust pierce your arms and hands,
You raise your head, to take a peek at No Man's Land... No soldiers are running towards you screaming
No noise of boots stomping on mud and guts was to be heard, and as you retreat back into the trench to fetch your rifle....
A bone chilling scream erupts from the machinegun nest nearby, and one after the other all the nests started firing,
Who are they shooting at? You think as you still can't see any enemy soldiers running towards you, but as soon as you peek again...
Masses of steel and bolts were advancing towards you, with high caliber cannons or machineguns mounted on them,
They advanced through the land crushing barbed wires and annhilating your machinegun nests with relative ease.
Bullets seem to bounce off them and they keep going, unstoppable, unyielding, merciless.

Привет from America
just came back from bovington tank museum where they have the mk 1 tank.. listening to the guide talking about these tanks and seeing them up close. combined with this song it make it so vivid
Fun fact: the first ever tank regiment is still operational in the British army, the equipment is a bit different these days
"bit"
Only slightly different, barely discernible difference really.
I wonder if one of the original tanks of that regiments still exists
@@steelpickaxe7978 iirc Mark tanks still exists, with the female ones being more than the male ones (yes mark tanks have genders), and Little Willy, one of the first prototypes is still alive, and he was spared from being scrapped in WW2 because civilians thought he could help in case enemies invaded (Mother didn't survive sadly)
Yeah they have a built in kettle this time.
we've really outdone ourselves with these murderboxes haven't we

The Mark seres of tanks are my favourite tanks, mainly because they changed how ground wars would be fought for the next century, plus they have such a unique design that you never see again in tanks.
My great great grandfather was a Canadian machine gunner at flers courcelette, he saw some of the first tanks rolling out. What a nightmare that must've been for the Germans
At the time, nigh unstoppable metallic behemoths that rolled over anything in they're path, leaving only rubble
I was soo pleased to see our good old german Monstertank. Our good old A7V!😁

Dear SABATON,
Your music has gotten me through some rough shit man like actually you guys are great people and Ik I comment on your stuff a lot (thx for responding on those btw) but you guys have gotten me through deep depressions and so much more thank you
Every song from sabaton must have above 50m views because this is a real art they spend alot of hours to make a song and they only get 2m views that is not fair i hope sabaton will reach 1 M subs soon
We hope too :)
never fails to give me shivers, loved The Great War album and absolutely LOVED the show you and HammerFall put on for the premier tour! Seattle 2019 was a BLAST!
Proud to say I share a birthday with the first use of the tank. September 15th!
I love the “breaking away, coming your way” part.
It really captures the *OH SH*T* these soldiers must have felt when they realized their bullets didn’t work against tanks.
Just as the Germans destroyed 1 tank with machineguns the other 31 have run over trenches and killed hundreds of Germans

I like Tanks
My favorite WW1 tank is the Mark V :D
Same
*weird tractor noises come from the No Man's Land*
German soldier: Guess I'll die!
British: *THE FUTURE OF WARFARE*
Imagine being one of the first soldiers on the battlefield to see tanks coming at you. Horrifying.
It was also horrifying being inside these tanks. Many British WW1 veterans spoke of the horrors inside these steel behemoths.
This is such a powerful song.
You feel so much passion and force under the entire song.
For some reasons the drums sound unbelievably epic in this song. Nice work Mr. Van Dahl.
The war to end all wars. It ended nothing.
hey Sabaton I just wanted to say congratulations on you 1 million subscribers I wish you the best luck and I really love all of your music
That guitar part at 2:40 gets me every time. So good.
