Thank you for not beating up a brand new (somebody else's car). Nothing irks me more than when I see a car with less than 1k miles and people are doing high revs and doing launches.
St looks good but i would go with platinum. Best of both worlds. I have the fusion sport, i wish the fusion platinum offered the sport powertrain like the explorer.
You think platinum rides nicer? I have sport expedition now, going to explorer, to not have to ‘step up’ - LOVE the look of the sport much better, but we do long distance driving trips often n that’s what we are wondering, is if platinum would give a ‘better ride’ or not
Unless you out driving like a road race or being crazy on the road really hard to tell the difference. Its the same transmission engine same size and make of tires. The suspension parts look the same might be a difference in spring rate. Maybe a little different brake package not sure. A little different badging
@@WayneKerr69420 Until 2022, then they are the same. However, as my comment states, install a tune on an ST and the Platinum and the power numbers are identical. Physically, they are the same. Only the software makes the HP lower and they changed that in 2022.
I have a new 23 ST and it has a front end clunk over bumps at slow speed, almost like strut or ball joint. Dealership said they couldn't find anything so escalated it, and its going back tomorrow. If it weren't for that, it would be a fine SUV. I am guessing they are going to tell me "that is just how it is" It is definitely fast for a 3rd row SUV. And there is a big difference between normal and sport mode as well. Also, the only thing coming out of that stock exhaust is a drone.
@@suppaman12 Dealer replaced a front strut. Said it had a separated bearing and thought this took care of it, but it didn’t. I was just advised that the plastic end links are most likely the culprit. It’s worth a try 🤷🏻♂️ Now I’m having issues with the Sync 3 system and it’s going back to dealer next week. I’m trading mine in next year on a 2025 ST. I’m gonna give Ford another chance because this vehicle is so much fun to drive. But quite honestly, I’m scared to own it outside of warranty.
Have a platinum, the st wins exterior, but couldn’t get over the cheaper interior feel. Also don’t like the explorer exterior lettering, again looks cheap
I'm wondering if it matters after tuning. If it is the same engine and trans, after having a custom tune done it should be the same. My only concern at that point would be the electronic features such as is the sport mode the same, does it tighten up the suspension in the ST and doesn't do it and the Platinum stuff like that. I'm in the market to buy one and I have no idea. Have you found out anything?
Peoria Ford near us wants us to check out the Platinum because they "drive pretty much the same." I really want the ST model....worth holding out for them to find an ST??
@@maxfernandez6346 my folks just ordered a platinum after getting frustrated with our local Lincoln dealer trying to buy an Aviator. They were not thrilled with the screen orientation so we’ll see if it grows on them. I prefer it more incorporated into the dash design.
@@JVette01 i just got it like two weeks ago and ever since I got it it’s been 15 and 16 mpg on the highway. I tried resetting it and then it went up to 19 but it feels like it’s a V8 when it’s actually a v6. I feel like I’m driving a expedition not an explorer
If you are comparing the ST to the Platinum, Why are you comparing the 2.3' to the 3.0l ? Not trying to bitch, just suggesting to stick to your title header.

You had me sold on the ST when you started giggling while accelerating.
😂😂 it’s fun for sure
It's literally the same exact engine as the ST unless you get the Hybrid model
Guilty!😂😅

@@Chato4570 its detuned in the platinum
My wife purchased an ST about a month ago. 400hp. It will definitely get down the road.
It moves!

That would be nice!
Platinum has less hp and tq then the st .
@@JDRTRM by how much? Legit looking at getting a platinum. I want the power and the wife wants the interior luxuries lol.
@@smokinC5 I believe it’s 35hp and 20tq less for the Platinum.
@@JDRTRM not for 2022. Both are rated at 400 hp, but the ST has a different rear end ratio, so it should still be quicker.
Drove both with the 3.0 400 hp , performance was the same. Platinum rode nicer and quieter only other difference was the paddle shifter
Yeah, the 3.0 is great is both trims.

I think the platinum may have more insulation for noise, and also I think the platinum windshield is laminated to make the interior quieter,
Nice quick and easy comparison 👌
Definitely will go with ST
Agreed!
put a tune on the Platinum AND BYE BYE ST !!!
They are the same with a tune....
@@GlennPearsonDIY The ST has 400HP where as the platinum has about 365HP

At Least Both ST And Platinum Has The Same Speedometer Odometer Tachometer And Active Park Assist 2.0
I'd take the platinum!

I’m not sure
It appear to be tuning and final gear ratio. I'm trying to decide also between the two.

Get what you want. The platinum is a more smooth ride but doesn’t have the handling, braking, and slightly more power of the ST.
@@JVette01 yeah man, that's what I'm thinking too! Great video 🤙
Thanks! Good luck on your ST
How did the suspension feel in comparison? Dampening?
The Platinum has a slightly better ride.
I don’t like the way the head unit sticks up above the dashboard…
horrible design. It looks like they glued a tablet where they could find a spot for it.
That was my one complaint at first but now two months later I love the interface size and elevated location

Something might not be right. It shouldn’t be that bad
is one of them quieter than the other (road noise and wind noise)?
The ST has more piped in engine noise than the Platinum. I don't notice a difference, but if there was one, the Platinum would be quieter.
I feel like the platinum tuned will beat the st couse the st is a 3.0 tuned up a the platty is a 3.5

A deeper engine note played through the speakers

But is the ST worth the $30k more than the Base?
It is if you want performance, looks, and features. If you want just utility, then the base is the better bet
