    Hope you guys enjoy the detour! As some of you have mentioned, yes, the 3.0L ecoboost wasn't pulled from the Raptor, it is simply shared with. The Explorer and Raptor both took it from the Lincoln Continental originally. Hope this clears it up! Sorry for the miscommunication.

    My mom has a 2013 Explorer Sport that she got brand new. Growing up I LOVED driving it. At the time it was the fastest car I had ever driven until I got my 05 WRX. It could keep up with my WRX (which was far from stock). She still has the Explorer to this day. 145,000 miles and not a single problem with it. 💪🏼

    I have installed a Ford tune, a Steeda intercooler, and a Steeda rear sway bar on my ST. This protects my warranty for the time being. Had a fun day at Charlotte Motor Speedway on the Roval with the Ford Racing School Mustangs and it occurred to me how much fun a Mustang would be with an ST drivetrain. AWD would create a Mustang that one could drive most of the winter, here in Michigan, rather than a fair weather friend.
    I don’t expect a $60,000 ST to be faster than a smaller $90,000 Trackhawk. I actually take trips in mine with the wife, dogs, and gear, with reasonable gas mileage.
    Cheers,
    Tony

    Love my 2021 Explorer ST. Never would have thought I would have owned one, until I drove it...then later tuned it. It is truly a beast. My concern, after two years of ownership, are the electronic gremlins (rear camera, side sensors, intelli-cruise faults, blue-tooth disconnects, power window auto up/down) that are randomly popping up. Additionally, I've had to replace one front half-shaft and already broke the rear bolt holding the rear diff to the subframe (mine has one bolt). While Ford replaced it under warranty (with a one bolt unit), I'm not sure it will hold up as this is my experience at 42k miles.

The Hellcat made 600ish whp and the ST made 530ish whp on the same dyno/same day. Given the weight difference there is a pretty good chance of the ST putting up one hell of a fight and anyone who doesn’t know how to launch the Durango Hellcat could end up losing here.

      Honestly IMHO you buy a TT for a tuner ride.... If you're not going tuner route, why buy the ST over the DRT? The DRT with a naturally aspirated V8 will be the better SUV to own long term, no doubt..... That EB will not get significant better mpgs vs the 5.7 with real world driving (turbos are thirsty and you've now got the addl AWD weight / drag garbage over the RT)... Keep in mind also you're looking at premium vs regular in the RT V8, that will affect you more negatively in fuel costs vs the stated mpg of the ST... Just my 2 cents... I briefly looked at the ST as I had hoped they stuffed a 5.0 in them. Once I saw that EB, nope went straight for the DRT RT.

      @Catholic Firefighter I’m not comfortable with 255 ‘narrow’ tires on the Explorer ST. A Kia Sorento has stock 255 wide tires, as does a Ford Mustang GT. 275 wide tires or better on a Ford Explorer ST makes a better choice for improvement in performance. And looks better too.

    • @Cornbread-gi6kt
      @Cornbread-gi6kt Год назад

      @Catholic Firefighter well, ‘looks’ is a personal category, and looks have some part in the performance of automobiles. The narrative is about the performance of the ST in a somewhat comparison of a standard Explorer. I’m comfortable with wider high performance tires on a near 6000 pound high performance SUV. A Kia with 255 tires has a coefficient cornering g ratio greater than a 255 shod ST Explorer. Biden+Forget about Ukraine+Reparations
