      It’s mostly a tune that made the difference not the intercooler. You plug that adapter under your dashboard and it changes the boss levels and stuff in your ecu. Honda uses something like that called hondata and another one called ktuner. Anyway….. the intercooler does nothing really but cool the air.

Might be able to come close to what a ST puts out stock for 15K less and then add Steeda performance struts, springs, rear sway bar, the right set of wheels and tires for around and you have a set up that will hall ass and still get 32 mpg on the high way at 70 mph

      @@bidenyouabitch7425 I respectfully disagree that you need an almost in streetable car to be taken seriously. Granted the heavy hitters out there weren't so heavy before. But most of us need the practicality of a vehicle only capable of low teens ET's. Part of the fun is getting lower times and driving to work tomorrow!
      I have owned a 2013 and 2016 Sport, and first thing I found was running constant 93 made a big enough difference that my dealers service manager asked me what I'd done to the car and did I have a tune. (Apparently it smoked a new 2018 owned by the mechanic fixing my power unit. (Essentially the transfer case.)) Up until nearly 2019, the Sport was more expensive to tune and find upgrade for. The first 3 or 4 years it was only Livernois and we know their pricing!
      But more importantly, almost no one cared. RT's never gave us a look, and forget SRT's! But now, my ST can do those numbers with an intercooler and tune alone. Plenty of room for mods to chip away at those faster cars. There's plenty of challengers available to liven up a trip to the grocery! (I like to surprise people! )
      No need to discuss mileage. That's going to suffer because of excessive right pedal pressures!

    It's a shame you can't just do with the Explorer the same as you can with the other ST cars, and just buy an accessport, modify how you see fit, and get custom tunes to match.

    The factory intercooler was sized the way it was for a reason, the the A/C condenser was unobstructed. Although you'll be making more power, the A/C performance will suffer a bit.

      think of it in terms of how much you will be paying for each of the 3 to 5 tenths of second in performance, on a family SUV, that is not a strong performer on the street equipped with way. It is rather expensive for a modest gain.

  • @sst6555
    @sst6555 11 месяцев назад

    this obviously would void your OEM warranty for powertrain issues; did Whipple do any severe duty cycle testing (such as summer temp. max. vehicle a max. load trailer towing on extended hill climbs ( like OEM's do). for engine cooling and A/C performance ? airflow to these heat exchangers behind the new intercooler would be affected. and may be how the powertrain engineers determined what size intercooler they could allow in the factory design. Just something to think about on additions that still does not make a vehicle this heavy a street performance car.

    • @m6071

      Possibly, more than likely more consistent power (less or no run to run variance due to heat soak, I noticed they took out some of the sensors (not sure if they reused the boost pressure sensors or replaced them) power increase is gonna come from the tune, it being the same/consistent every time you beat on it is going to come from the intercooler.
