Dan Bedard I agree. The interior is ok but not great. The drive train, handling and performance though is stellar. I’ve had mine a year. It’s been flawless. Fantastic family hauler. Tows the boat and drives like a fast GT through the mountains. It’s great.
People need to understand that running E85 in an ST requires an upgraded fuel pump and tune and very likely larger injectors. Just putting E85 in them and running the shit out of them will cause bad things to happen. I DO own one of these and they are pretty quick.
Most heat transfer of any intercooler/radiator happens in the first row, frontal square inches are far more effective than thickness but you don't always have that choice
Thank you for your real world condition testing and information!! You're absolutely correct, those street numbers are what are most important to a lot of us!! So thank you man!! Great Vid!!
Did you notice any increased turbo lag due to the increased IC volume? Did you notice increased coolant or condenser temps due to covering more of both the radiator and condenser with more IC surface area?
I'm no expert, but I don't believe so. I believe it may infact do the opposite. The increased air volume in the intercooler not only is cooler, but more plentiful before coming through the filter. So think of it as a performance intake header in a way. That with the higher density air.
@@SEVENZEROTWO no that’s all wrong my G. A component of perceivable turbo lag is the volume of space that exists after the turbo. Increasing the volume means the turbo needs to output more volume of air before pressure starts building. Bigger intercooler could mean that it takes slightly longer to come into full boost. I don’t think the volume is going to effect lag though.
Any worries with excess condensation getting sucked into the engine ? Ford kind of learned their lesson with having a bigger intercooler than you need on the F150 ecoboost along the Gulf Coast and all the issues it had with that. Intercooler probably needs an easily accessible drain on the cold side end cap if you live in a humid climate
@@jasonacsalesltd This is no way an answer to this question, however have had an AWD 300hp Chrysler 300S V6 my launch was rather enjoyable. My 300S AWD would of had an advantage on launch, but would of loss it if I would pit it against my platinum explorer in my opinion. Would you agree, or disagree?
You never get something for nothing. It's always a trade off. Remove heat from intake air and add it to the cooling stack. A/C will lose cooling capacity especially when ambient temp exceeds 100. If the engine is working real hard at that temp it could over heat.
The only thing holding me back from an ST is the port injection and all that comes with it when the miles rack up. I wish Ford would develop the dual injection for these.

@@SteelNGuitars926 In the past, Ford allowed some Focus ST upgrades without this problem, but I don't think this one is specifically allowed. On the other hand, most dealers would not notice its there if the thing they are repairing for you is not either of the two coolers. They're nicely tucked away, and so long as the problem you are having repaired was not caused by the modification, I think it's perfectly honorable to get warranty work done without mentioning the mod.
Serious question, would the addition of the intercooler (as much cooling and performance it adds) void a warranty? I own an SHO which also came with similar issues, but I'd love to replace my wife's Equinox with this all day!!
Magnuson Moss warranty act requires the manufacture to prove the failure was caused by the aftermarket part to void a warranty. I couldn’t see how they could argue that a better intercooler caused a failure unless the cooler itself failed internally.
