I feel like Saoirse Ronan and Timothée Chalamet would play a great Anne and Gilbert in Anne of green gables
aaah omg yes!!
YES
DUDE YES
OKAY TRUUUEEE
Okay, now I need to see another adaptation with them as Anne and Gilbert 🤣
reading this part in the book, i felt like he was already in love with her yet he had no chance, she literally thought of him as a brother since she didn't have any
Well done, channel owner, you are really creative, and I wish you success from the bottom of my heart, my friend, your brother continued from the Emirates❤️🇦🇪
Literally the only reason why they could never work together is because Jo never saw him more than just a friend or even a brother (which is absolutely valid), but there's no denying that the chemistry was there, even if their personalities could clash at some point like Jo herself said, I think they could have worked out ONLY IF she did love him, which she did not lol but aside from that, I can totally see why so many people ship them, and even I think that they could have ended up together if Jo's feelings had changed at some point
they should have been endgame
Not me looking at this scene to see timothee dance 🥰
i volunteer them as tribute for a titanic remake.
1:32
*sighs*⭐
Jo : That's her see? The girl on the violet dress.
Laurie : Hmmm its very pretty (while lookin at her)
It says Laurie is hopelessly besotted with Jo and waits years for his love to be requited but Jo does not feel the same stay true to herself
@Maggie Ryan u would he's cute saoirse and timothee r two cuties
The men in those movies alwasy say that
Why do I read it as the girl in the toilet dress💀
@@amieraafiqah9713 it's not a toilet dress the march girls are not wealthy there poor and it's the only dress she had besides Jo march is a tomboy
Saoirse and Timothee have wonderful chemistry. It's funny how he broke her heart in "Ladybird", only for it to be vice versa this time round!
Let's see how 'The French Dispatch' turns out.
Thats right..
That's what saoirse said
maybe one day they’ll be in a movie where they end up together haha
“Revenge is mine! Quoth he...”
That dance is adorable. Just two kids who became instant friends having fun while youth lasts.
Yeah but Laurie loves Jo here he couldn't help it
this comment is so wholesome ❤️
My favorite scene throughout the whole movie
It makes me so sad and happy at the same time, like the inner child ghost saying 'remember you used to be me?'
They were already almost adults, right?
honestly i believe that if jo's and laurie's relationship taught us something is that your soulmate not always is the love of your life
Yesss!
Or the person you end up with !?
That is kind of the central drama of human existence (other than survival and parenthood).
I really really love that
Had to learn that the hard way.
She is so strong and poetic at the same time. There's chemistry but unfortunately, sometimes soul mates dont end up together..
Yes I know but movie buff when Laurie says to Jo I've loved you ever since I've known you Jo I couldn't help it did he really mean it
No you're right...Their are many layers to the emotions involved.
@@TalentBridgeMedia did Laurie mean it can you tell me that it says on the Wikipedia Laurie admits his feelings for Jo but she insists she does not feel the same way
It also says Laurie is hopelessly besotted with Jo and waits years for his love to be requited but Jo does not feel the same way and stay true to herself also on the TV tropes it says Laurie wanted Jo but doesn't get her in the end cause she never wanted him back also it's says victorious childhood friend Laurie married a girl from childhood Amy but not the one he harbour romantic feelings since then Jo so Laurie was unlucky and victorious
yay a smart person!
Why Timothy always look 16 in everything I see him in? 😂
And that's on oriental blood
Hồng Ngọc Lê huh?
He’s supposed to look 16. That’s how old Laurie is

Why *does
These two had the most incredible chemistry.

@@iknowexactlywhoyouare8701 Nah I don't buy it
She doesn't love him like that. The book makes it more clear. She and him would clash as a married couple. Amy is a much better fit for him, and then he becomes Jo's brother in law, which makes more sense as Jo thinks of him more as a brother.
Like in the book, her mother explains how they're to much alike and they're better off as friends.
Yes
*I can’t get over my disappointment of being a girl* ughhh yes yes yes
She said that because she couldn't go fight in the army with daddy cause she a girl and boys have more freedom
Charlene Rafferty yeah?

They really are the Leo and Kate of our generation. Both are fantastic actors and friends
Wtf no.
@@ahsirplaynas3302 leo and kate are A list stars. Incomparable.
Leo is my bae :)
@@patangeloquijano they weren't A listers by birth! Also saorsie is 3 time academy nominee at such a young age so...
Also Leo is a weird womanizer and Kate is a woody Allen apologist .
I would say Saorsie+Timothee >> Kate+Leo
No.They're not. Kate much prettier than Saorise and Leo was much romantic
They had such sweet chemistry in the beginning. Saoirse and Timothée work very well together, and they do a fantastic job playing off of each other. Part of me wishes they could've stayed together, but Jo and Friedrich were also very good together.
Indeed, I'm ultimately glad that Jo and Laurie never got together, as some people are just better off as platonic friends. I also admire that they left it up to the viewer's imagination whether or not Jo and Friedrich actually became a couple, or if Jo merely dreamt up that fantasy. 😁
I totally agree
@@trinaq I'm not Laurie love Jo romantically I just don't like that Jo didn't return the affection but at the same time Jo and Laurie r two different timothee chalamet thinks Laurie and Jo would probably be together if they lived in a perfect world
i was kinda happy amy and laurie ended up together because amy was ALWAYS second place to jo. and amy she finally got who she really loved.
@@bianca3081 Yes Amy may always be second place to jo, but guess what. She has the ability to overcome jo.Her being second makes her first because people see jo as unlady like. That upsets me, bc of Jo wanting to express herself and not be tied down quickly like others she doesnt get to be with who and where she truly wants. Truly this is really just like mangas. Where the girl get a CEO husband and then acts real slow when building a relationship with them.
No one is talking about Greta Gerwig Killing this. This is pure art
Did you ever see the 1994 one with Winona Ryder and Christian bale?
@@iknowexactlywhoyouare8701 I'd check it out
@@iknowexactlywhoyouare8701 it's good ! It's really good! But this one is better
Richer relationship between jo and Laurie
But also all the sisters.
More character for both Amy and Beth.
Which is what was supposed to be the author's true vision to help girls identify with any of the four sisters.
While the earlier renditions ONLY side with Jo.
Greta's version helps us understand it's okay to be a Meg or Amy or Beth too!
Not all women should strive to be Jo , the somewhat "masculine" "tomboy" person.
Women can be feminine and aspirational!
Greta really killed it like no one ever had before her!
I was sad that Greta didn't get a nomination for the Oscar. Her directing was so good!
Perfect

such a blissful scene until… Emma and her foot
Saoirse's natural Irish accent makes her have a really unique voice when she makes an American accent.
this!! it’s very transatlantic!!
For anyone wondering, the song they dance to is by Skampa Quartet, called String Quartet No. 12 in F Major, Opus. 96. “American”: III. Molto Vivace. (It’s the third one on the Skampa Quartet album).
Sara Williams Thank you!
THABK U SO MUCH OHYMOGD
So the funny thing is that this piece was written by Dvorak in 1893 and little women is set during the American Civil War in the early 1860’s! It kind of popped out at me as I was watching the film, but it’s a lovely piece of music!
thankyou
Thank u so much
I just don't understand how laurie fell in love with amy that fast when he's been in love with jo half his life. I wish the movie build his relationship with amy longer to justify it and make it more acceptable. It would be less painful that way 😭
Maybe because Louisa. M. Ascott, the writer of the original novel, is Jo herself? I mean she's a little bias to her own character, and for some reason didn't explore Amy and Laurie's relationship deeper. Partly maybe because she was away when it happened.
@sA96 Lol I feel the same way
I think we explore it a lot more in the book
I think it’s a More platonic relationship
Life is painful. It's entirely realistic, if you think about it from a more cynical perspective.
when they bumped into each other AGAIN 1:46
just adorable
Ship them hard
We can ship but we all know wat happens to these soulmates who were meant to be
The best scene in the whole movie. Both actors looked exactly like the book characters and have this such beautiful chemistry. This scene was done so creatively that it adds something even deeper. Bravo.
100% agree!
Omg I love Timothée and Saoirse so much!
They r two perfect beautiful Jo and Laurie
He's blown away the moment she enters the room, love at first sight immediately. It's so wonderful and bittersweet at the same time. I love it!
This scene blew every other Little Women adaptation out of the water. Truly one of the most charming and lovely scenes ever, their chemistry is sparkling
I agree!
you know, once i think about it. if meg hadn’t hurt her foot and distracted jo, laurie and her might have ended up together. but jo’s family is far too important to her, so she stopped and cared for meg. but if she hadn’t, she would continue to dance with laurie till the end. But meg and jo took his carriage which in a sense brought him to be a close friend instead of lover
This makes no sense 😂
Jo was right they loved each other but they weren't in love. And they would have been a Trainwreck of a couple
@@546-apoorvaranjan7 how does it make no sense? This was the very first night they met so of course there is the possibility that the relationship could have played out differently if Jo didnt have to leave early and they bonded for the rest of the night. It could have turned romantic but instead it became friendship-based.

A good dialigue
Louisa M Alcott based Little Women on her own life so in a way she did show ‘Laurie’ that letter by writing about it in her book. So the real Laurie found out she changed her mind I wonder what he thought. That’s an interesting move on her part...
Except that in the book, Jo's acceptance letter to Laurie doesn't exist...
There's also no real Laurie
It’s so funny how Jo and Laurie are so similar yet so different. They were both kids just bored with their roles in life, but Jo seemed so determined to change her fate and Laurie seemed to have found a reason to live when he found Jo. Like, I think they would have made a great couple; Jo could have had a partner to support her and finance her, and Laurie would have found someone to live his life to the fullest, someone as odd as him.
I LOVED THIS MOVIE BUT I HATED THE END JO AND LAURIE SHOULD HAVE ENDED UP TOGETHER
1:46 I'm pretty sure this scene is off-script. Or maybe I'm wrong? Idk lol
Yes. Maybe you are right. Or then again maybe you are wrong. Who knows? I do not
I genuinely feel like this is something saoirse and timothee would do in real life
A lot of people say “nahh they were never meant to be, they’d clash if they married, they’re platonic soulmates” but DON’T U THINK THAT EVERY SCENE THEY HAVE HAS INSANE CHEMISTRY BURSTING AND LIKE ISNT THERE A PART OF YOU THAT KINDA WISHES THEY DO END UP TOGETHER, IN ANOTHER WORLD, A PERFECT, HAPPY FICTIONAL ONE :,)
It looks like a beautiful film
Just Some Guy without a Mustache it is!
erin caffrey Probably my favorite film of the year tbh
It is an extraordinary film based on an even more extraordinary book by the same name.
yes it is!!
If you read Louisa's letter exchange with her publisher she was the one who came up with all the marriages. Friedrichs character in little women is based on philosopher Henry Thoreau Louisa was in love with him. Laurie is based on Ladislas Wisniewski a young man who was first flirting with Louisa and then betrayed him. In all of Louisa's novels these two male archetypes are constantly present. The Friedrich archetype is the humble hard working man (Fritz in lw, Mac in Rose in Bloom, David in Work) He has silent passion for the protagonist and the Louisa type of protagonist loves him and wants that equal relationship. Laurie archetype is charming but idle. He either puts his act together and falls for a female character (like Amy) who is stern with them or they fail and fet sucked into consuming toxic self-harming behavior. Little Women is all about Louisa's love life. That is why she had conflicted relationship towards it. Henry was 16 years older (same age difference than between Louisa and the professor) Ladislas was 10 years younger. Louisa and Henry, They did have an affair and almost a telepathic way of communication which is also present in the novels. Henry passed away 5years before LW was published. That is also why Louisa listed out to be nurse in the war. He had lost her sister Lizzie at the same time.
I was so excited for this scene in the theaters because it really shows the chemistry between the two. Winona and Christian stole my hearts but these two did an equally amazing job. Friggin loved them. You see the fun they were having!!
I agree ❤❤
This soundtrack is phenomenal.
The Chemistry between Saorsie and Timmy is Great 😃
The music and energy in this scene is so charming

The dance is fantastic but also when Jo points out her sister and Laurie murmurs dismissively, “mhm…very pretty…” whILE LOOKING AT JO
I would love to see them in a film as the leads where they actually end up together.
Greta Gerwig she is so good amazing actress director rolemodel❤❤❤
Strong and powerful for sure!

Chalamet's Laurie's mannerism and quirks remind me of Christian Bale, even when I'm not trying to remind myself that Bale had previously played Laurie as well.
Saorise and Timothee both have amazing chemistry I’m glad that Laurie is happy with Amy and no stays true to herself but I would’ve loved see a glimpse of what Laurie and jo could’ve been together.
How beautiful it is to be able to see the scene of a book come true, teaching you that everything you imagined is true.
I love how innocent and sweet their friendship began.
saoirse's beauty is too poetic for me to handle urgg i cant breathe whenever i see her
I love this scene so so so so much it’s just so beautiful and makes me unbelievably happy
The dance scene in the 94 version is cute and charming, but there is something so nostalgic and almost beautiful about this version. I really love the music featured in this film.

That little smile he gives her at 1:43 is so cute I-
The chemistry, the ambiance and the score = no words. This scene is just perfect! I ship these two hard! More of them pls!!!
I'm still very upset that these two didn't end up with one another
They really casted p e r f e c t l y . The other versions of this movie made Laurie unlike how he is described in the book. I fell in love with his book character, and they made him come to life in this movie.
Exactly I agree completely
Idk why but this scene I find this scene so romantic??? just two people being silly and enjoying each other's company and lost in their own little world away from the party
I've read that it says Laurie is hopelessly besotted with Jo he waits years for his love to be requited but Jo does not feel the same stay true to herself
Read the book "Jo and Laurie" by Margaret Stohl. The author is just like us who wants them to end up together so she wrote that book.
This scene was very sweet & nice a spin from the other versions, but the period inaccuracy of Jo & Meg's hair is killing me, lol. This critique is small & mostly for fun. At least Jo's hair is curled. Girls of 15 & 16 would wear their hair up. It would've been such a perfect opportunity to showcase the opulent updos women wore in the 1860s on such formal occasions. Look at the way Empress Eugénie de Montijo wore her hair in paintings from the time. Even if they came from a poor family, the March girls could certainly afford to style their hair up with a few ribbons, flowers, or other pretty hairpins. Meg, especially, wants to fit in with society girls, so she'd of course mimic the current trends. Jo, even if she was more boyish, would likely opt to wear her hair pulled back and up (like a boy), maybe even swept back under a cap & streamers. Jo might also wear her hair parted on the side, which was masculine for the time, whereas Meg would absolutely part her hair down the middle. Plus, these are Eastern girls from Massachusetts, not midwestern pioneer girls where the idea of wearing one's hair down like a child to dances wasn't as eyebrow raising. But like I said, it's a nit-picky detail. Though while I would've liked to have seen more historical dress accuracy, I don't think the majority of the audience noticed & it's still a great version!
2:23 i love the way he twirls
"YOURUP OH THATS CAPITAL"
The chemistryy
Josephine had a very strong character. While Laurie was like her little brother and she loved him, she needed a strong man which Laurie wasn’t. She felt no passion for him. She needed a man to look up to and Frederick was it.
I would've married this version of Laurie, not the one from the 90s 😂😂😂
this scene is magical
this is my favorite scene of the whole movie 🥺
The twirling Laurie did reminded me of Billy Elliot haha
what a perfect cast
Meg's accent was fine. Emma crushed it.
Saoirse Ronan is a pretty Jo even my fellow says so that saoirse Ronan is pretty as Jo march and in real Life
gosh they are the cutest ^^
Sorry, I only saw the movie. But what I’ve seen there I feel like Laury married Amy to get back at Jo for breaking his heart. I feel like he still loves her after all that time and he wanted to make her jealous in a way. And he knew Amy was in love with him, so he could easily make her marry him. Amy was always jealous of Jo, so I think she also secretly enjoyed it because she also wanted to get back at Jo and rub it in her face.
Jo didn’t want to marry, but when she puts the letter in the secret mailbox, she is lonely and desperate. She wants to give in to the standard of marrying because she is tired of fighting everything around her.
But when he turns out to be married to Amy, she is shocked and maybe she has her doubts but she isn’t getting mad (what was her “problematic trait” because women cant be mad or they are “overdramatic”).
At that point she has grown as a person and won’t let them get to her. She killed them with kindness.
And I think Laurie eventually burned his own bridges marrying Amy, because he isn’t really in love with her. He told Jo he loved Amy more than her, but deepdown he loved Jo more. (See his reaction when the professor in New York comes to visit them “who is this guy?” He asks rudely over and over again. He’ll het stuck in this fading marriage with Amy and her childish behavior.
This show is so good with the little details, when they are looking through the window to Meg and he says how pretty she is, looking at Jo and she smiles not even having a clue that he is talking about her. So simple yet it adds so much for their development. Really a masterpiece of a scene.
Next to the “marriage is an economy” scene, this has to be my favorite moment of the film, because it captures these two enjoying a seemingly innocent moment in a world that will soon rush them into societal standards.
Hopefully in their next movie together they actually do end up together
Hey God, it's me again 🧎🏼♀️
i want this type of relationship
Wow when Timothee smiles, my heart melts. They look fantastic together ❤️
these two have such great chemistry, i don’t think i’ll ever get tired of seeing them act together
Yeah I get why they don't end up together but THE CHEMISTRY they have just makes that fact HURT so much more!
Her hair....it should be up. It should be up. It should be up. All of them should have their hair up. It was VERY improper at this time to have their hair down. Grrrrrrr. Sorry to be a party pooper but this is such a visually distracting film because so very much is wrong with the costuming and hair. 1994 was soooo sooo much better.
Let's have a petition for Disney to redo the live-action Beauty and the Beast with Saoirse Ronan as Belle. I bet she's also a good singer.
I would sell my soul to see this for the first time again

At 2:23 Laurie does the same spins of in Frances Ha, when she runs and dances through new york. Greta Gerwig must have taught him the moves 💃
This whole asthetic plus the music and energy is just breathtaking (also does anyone know what the song when they r dancing is Called)
The first one is Waltzes, Op. 39: No. 15 in A-Flat Major by Johannes Brahms, and the one when Jo is dancing with Laurie is by Antonín Dvořák
