    I wish they stayed true to the book and didn't make Jo "fall" for Laurie out of being desperate and lonely. But the way Laurie talks about Amy is so sweet🤗

    The absolute powerhouse acting in this scene is mind blowing. The subtlety and nuance of Saoirse and Florence’s interactions is just fantastic. You know you’ve got a great movie when Timmy is kinda hanging around as a second banana 😂😂 And while they are each their own new and unique actor, I have to say, Saoirse gives me Cate Blanchett vibes, Florence gives me Kate Winslet vibes and Timmy gives me Leonardo DiCaprio vibes.

    @mimirants7935 2 месяца назад +8

    Why did they make Jo so...... unnecessarily a victim of every situation in this movie. It's almost like all her faults and all her tragedies are greater than her sisters. In the book, Jo LOVED Amy and Laurie, and after reading their engagement news she said they were perfect for each other. She kept trying to set up Laurie with her sisters, knew how to own up her own flaws and didnt come home to nurse Beth while making a comment about how her baby sister (Amy) always has things easy. She was so much more mature than this version. Which is interesting, because a lot of people seem to find this version of Jo (Ronan) more feminist?

      @@Be_With_Me989 because you don’t forget the first love, that feeling never goes away. I think that Laurie’s marrying Amy made Joe started to look their relationship a little sensual (she refused to feel that in the past) but quickly realized that he is now her sister’s husband. Very subtle… the actors are excellent.

    • @LisaG442
      @LisaG442 6 месяцев назад +59

      @@hermioned1304 absolutely not. Jo only ever loved Laurie like a brother. He was still “her boy”, just not romantically. What the movie doesn’t convey is the months of selfless, round the clock nursing and care Jo devoted to Beth as she was dying. Jo was beyond exhausted and heartbroken watching her favourite sister die when Amy came home. She felt isolated. And the happiness of her 2 sisters in their married lives compounded her feeling of loneliness. She also felt her dreams of being something die as she knew it fell to her to take care of her parents in their old age when everyone thought it’d be Beth. Book Frederick instantly noticed her careworn appearance when he showed up with “you haf been ill my friend?”. Treat yourself to the books, movies never get it right.

      In the book while overseas Laurie vaguely realizes he is starting to think more about Amy. Trying to fight against his feelings he writes to Jo once last time asking her to take him back. We do not see the actual content of their letters, but Jo does write back and firmly says no.

    Better if they hadn’t made this up for dramatic effect. Worse even that both Laurie and Amy came off acting guilty and appealing/pleading with Jo’s good nature. They knew they did something wrong … you don’t go after a man that your sister has connections with… you don’t go after the sister of the girl you used to pursue. Lastly for the change in Jos character, she knew she made a good decision and you don’t back track on that.Good, pure people like they were in the book keep it clean.

      Regardless of having pursued her older sister at some point, he fell in love with Amy. With Jo, it was an expectation. Amy was the true love of his life.

  • @laeiyal7661

    Amy is not a true sister and Laurie is such miserable soul to go after the sister of a girl who he loved and confessed his love already. Jo should live her life staying away from toxic people and relationships. But again I do understand that Jo and May didn’t grow up together in same household which practically makes them a strangers and May always wanted to mary rich 😅

      In the books Jo doesn't have this odd change of heart for plot drama and is actually pleased immediately for Amy as they've both matured by then! This is some weird regression on Jo's character growth.
