I don’t care what anyone says because I love how Amy and Laurie ended up together. If I’m being completely honest we just watched Jo’s point of view so I’m pretty sure that their were moments Amy and Laurie had that we never saw. If I’m being completely honest Jo never loved Laurie in that way, she was just afraid of being alone. The ending was perfect because Jo got to do what she wanted to do all along, it was not to marry because she has made it SUPER CLEAR that she didn’t want to get married. So the fact that she got to have her dream come true without having a mans money to do so just goes to show how a strong and brilliant women she was and Amy got to be with the man she loved her entire life. And idc what anyone says but Laurie loves Amy, he loves her in a different matter than Jo and ultimately they will make each-other happy in the long run. Laurie and Jo would never have worked out.
Also, Luisa Alcott was jealous of her, she tried to put all the flaws of her sister Abigail Alcott in the book, as you say we only know her point of view, but Jo's personality for me is really annoying. Abigail Alcott was really a recognized painter, she founded a free school for women artists and more, it is a shame that most have another perspective of her thanks to Luisa Alcott whom everyone glorifies.
Amen! The author herself of the originally story never wanted to make Jo get married. Instead, she wanted her to end up a literary spinster. It was publishers that forced her to make Jo get married.
@acciolovegood3311 :) I’m guessing u r a hp fan by your name me too. I’m a gryfiindor by the pottermore quiz but with everything else I get Slytherin so I guess I’m a Slytherdor
I used to not get why everyone thought Timothee was so great but now I see it. He somehow manages to be awkward, soft and adorable at the same time, I love watching him, I just love it
I like the idea of Jo and Laurie going off into their own adventures but not as a romantic pair, but a platonic soulmate bond. Who knows what kind of adventures they could have had together.
*stands* *on* *chair* "There is a girl outside" "No there isnt" "Yes there is there is a girl outside, how am I supposed to concentrate when there is a girl outside" "Laurie-" " *its* *a* *girl* " *pulls* *out* *table*, *proceeds* *to* *join* *the* *stalking* "Oh my you're right there is a girl"
Lol I think it was more over-protective brother Laurie (since he realised that he loved Amy romantically, Jo is more of a sister to him at this point).
@ShayAliyah jo is still his FIRST love, it was clearly jealousy and over protectiveness. can you just let people have their own opinions on the characters?..
In the time period that this was written originally, a woman's hair was considered het one beauty, her glory so to speak. My Grandmother was not allowed to cut her hair until after she married(I'm old, and so was grandma). When I first read it, I new immediately that it wasn't Amy saying it was Jo's only beauty, but a special part of the culture that existed at the time and mostly taboo for a girl to do such a thing
@llovebleach6530 That's a good point. Maybe it's just her delivery amidst a room full of seemingly opposite reactions, especially if you aren't familiar with the time period and its customs/values. She and Jo had always had that kind of antagonistic and passive aggressive relationship, so it made sense to assume she was making a passive aggressive jab, maybe even unconsciously because it was second nature lol
@MichielBLKorte I feel like Amy would be Khloe and jo would be Kim though. Because Kim is the brains of the operation and Khloe is the one that arranges things the way the should be. Also Khloe is more sensitive than Kim which suits Amy.
This comment section is about to be mad at me, but I really don't think that Laurie and Jo should have romantically been together. I think they were best as a non-romantic relationship
watched this in theatres and its one of my favorite films. I've never watched something that has made me feel so many emotions within a two hour time span.
Laurie and Jo are one of the best-unrequited romances ever. You so desperately want Jo to love him because they'd be such a wonderful couple but it's also so tragically perfect that she can't. I also like how they show his love for Jo will never go away, he clearly loves Amy but he'll never stop loving Jo either and his reaction to Jo's company and then even his reluctance to get the carriage so she can chase after him is also so bittersweet and wonderful. Definitely the best couple that never happened in literature.
I totally agree! If they ended up together it wouldn’t be as memorable, and the scene where she rejects him is so heartbreaking and powerful it just needed to exist
Not at all, i was rooting for amy and laurie, i felt amy had so much room for development and growth and her story would have been so very wonderful, if they'd focused more on her it would have been so much better, she had depth and emotion and character, while i felt like joe was made to please everyone, its like the writer thought what would be a perfect girl, ill give her brains and make her brave and whatnot, without any flaws or room for mistakes, while Amy was more wholesome and interesting she had passion, she was faced with conflicts that she needed to overcome, her feelings of never being enough or never being able to compete with others, it was there with joe, kt was there with her art, it was there with her love, you could see she loved Laurie and you feel her emotions and character build, her desire to not just be the same as everyone else, but to be able to stand out, her match with Laurie was a wonderful one.
I was, but I saw why they wouldn't get along. Also, Amy felt like a rebound. I feel like she deserved better. Like, she's always second best to Jo, so I think she should prove that she's now number 1/she's the one who gets to choose now. Jo should've stayed single and Laurie pursue his dream of becoming a pianist. (Thats just my opinion.)
@floGR7 I felt like that kind of too but I don’t think so. I think Laurie loved Amy too but he needed to get closure about Jo first. Amy had feelings and after spending time with Amy he had feelings for her he realized too and fought for her. Maybe she is a rebound lol. They seemed really in sync at the end
Unpopular opinion: Jo does love Laurie in a romantic way, she’s just afraid if she’d lose him as a friend if she does. That’s what happens when you fall in love with your best friend.
that actually makes a lot of sense- she also really reminds me of my sister, who has a lot more guys friends (a lot of whom like her romantically) and she has liked one of them, but she always says that she just wants to have a friend, and if she was going to meet someone she wouldn't want to be friends first before they dated
I think marriage is too much of a burden to her. She’s a free spirit who wants to keep going forward wherever the wind takes her. She loved him but I don’t think she was in love with him just because she wasn’t willing to give up her “freedom” in her mind. That’s why she seemed happy with the professor. He represents opportunities that perhaps Laurie couldn’t provide for her.
Laurie loving Jo and her not reciprocating and the climax of that love in her rejection is the best depiction of heartbreak I’ve ever seen on screen. Ronan and Chalamet chemistry as actors is off the charts, too
when i finished this movie i felt irrationally angry at amy and laurie ending up together, even tho jo told us time and time again that she doesnt want to get married, and that jo and laurie were more suited to be friends, so why was i mad at amy and laurie? well i realized that even if they were platonic, jo and laurie (in my mind at least) belonged to each other. they were perfect soulmates, even if not romantic. so the idea of amy being laurie's wife and maybe replacing the number one spot of jo in laurie's heart, jarred me and it was like the status quo changed. laurie now belonged to another woman, so even tho jo and laurie were platonic to me, i still hated the idea of laurie belonging to amy. when i shouldnt be, because people can be in a romantic relationship with someone and still place equal importance in their platonic relationships. i love the idea of jo as aromantic because not all love stems from romantic attraction, and the love jo and laurie has is wonderful
You know what’s sad? This happens a lot in real life too. I’ve seen it a couple of times. :( We don’t always end up with our soulmates no matter how passionate and sure we are of love being there. I’M. SAD.AGAIN. Your reaction is completely valid and unfortunately, fiction does imitate life in that kind of way.
part of the implication of the ending of the movie is that it never actually happened since jo for her book wouldn't have wanted to "sell out" her female lead to marriage and the actual author herself ended up single, she was speculated to have been a spinster for a reason *cough*
The real ending Jo ends up never married or in a relationship but because publishers didn't believe a woman could be successful without marriage they made Alcott change the ending so Jo would get married to have it be published
i mean she actually wasn't that was just written in bc the book wouldn't get published if she didn't end up with anyone in reality i don't think she actually ended up with anybody
I just watched this movie and I'm totally in love with it. However the scene where Jo rejects Laurie couldn't make me cry because I was still crying over Beth and I just couldn't let her go TT-TT
Amy and Laurie are everything! I don’t understand how people want Jo and Laurie to end up together after she only wanted to marry him because she did not want to be alone? He even says to Jo he loves Amy in a different way and they’re so bloody cute together 🥰 a guy and a girl can be friends without it ending in a relationship
How can't u understand? They had a long ass history? I do think Laurie and Amy are cute together. But damn it hurts, because of the history he had with Jo. Also don't forget the mess they ALL are.
I cried more when jo felt lonely after realizing that the man who tried to have a relationship with her now had it with her sister. I just think is so deeply relatable the feeling of "I rejected a romance between us ´cause what I felt wasn´t enough but now i feel so lonely that I´ld settle with that" and it sucks, it hurts a lot and I´m thankfull for seing it represented and not just the "she rejected him so she´s bad" usual trope
Ahahahah... Jo: "Amy you and Laurie ended up together in 3 chapters... please, don't say anything!... Amy : Meeee? And youuu?? Jo: ... And me? 🤔 Oh yes, I've fallen in love with professor in 2 chapters... I'm not so better then you... Louisa May Alcott? Have you decided to finish book in an hour? 🤔
@samlal3618 just the string my sister tried to curl 😂😂 we stopped after that. But we did use it before that, but my mother was more used to it than my sister. Idk if we still have it, I hope so its a good memory 😂
i was reading a fanfic and the people were fighting and i was expecting one of them to say “i love you” and then i was like “oh haha what’s that one movie where the girl is giving her speech and the guy just keeps interrupting with ‘i love you’??” AND I CAME ON RUclips TO TRY AND FIND IT but got distracted and i was like “ooo little women this is the last thing i’ll watch and then i’ll look for the other thing” and i realized like 2 mins in that THIS was the movie i was thinking of ANYWAYS LMAO
I don’t care what anyone says because I love how Amy and Laurie ended up together. If I’m being completely honest we just watched Jo’s point of view so I’m pretty sure that their were moments Amy and Laurie had that we never saw. Abigail Alcott was really a recognized painter, she founded a free school for women artists and more, it is a shame that most have another perspective of her thanks to Luisa Alcott whom everyone glorifies.
yeah i agree but i still cried at the end of the book and i never cry for books or movies
So true! 👌🏻
Amen! The author herself of the originally story never wanted to make Jo get married. Instead, she wanted her to end up a literary spinster. It was publishers that forced her to make Jo get married.
"you are on fire"
"thank you"
LMAO
😂😂
Read this at the exact time it came on my screen lol
That's me trying to take compliments 😂😂😂
That was hilarious 😂😂
Hahahahahhahwhaa
“boys scare me” is literally the most relatable line in the whole movie
Jesus Christ loves us unconditionally+eternally! He cares for us so much that He sacrificed Himself on the cross for our sins!God is so good!💗✝️

jo was feeling like a girlboss
@psylocke_101cause she is a girlboss 😌💅
"Oh there is a girl"
"That's a girl"
THEY SAY IT LIKE THEY'VE NEVER SEEN A GIRL BEFORE
reminds me of, “why, Hermione, you’re a girl!” “very well spotted”
they probably hadn’t
Yeah, like she's been spotted in the wild
that's just a basic guy interaction
happens sometimes
Amy: “its Laurie!”
Aunt March: *”I know”* 🙄
That bit always makes me cry! It's like 30 seconds in and I'm already like 😢
Honestly aunt March was iconic in this movie
I like the idea of Jo and Laurie going off into their own adventures but not as a romantic pair, but a platonic soulmate bond. Who knows what kind of adventures they could have had together.
True❤😭
Laurie never liked her in a platonic way. He did but his goal was always to marry her.
god you make me miss something that never will happen nor did happen. they would be the absolute dream team and wouldn’t have a kid on their first day
THIS!!
Any lunar chronicles or kotlc fans know they are exactly like cinder & Thorne or Sophie & dex :DD
LAURIE STOP STANDING THERE GET THE CARRIAGE
that is my favorite line in this whole movie
💀
gives me: “stop standing there and get in the car!”
wow so many likes thanks guys

It's so domestic I love it 🤣
he like: *yes d e a r*

*pulls* *out* *table*, *proceeds* *to* *join* *the* *stalking*
"Oh my you're right there is a girl"
“That’s a girl”
This is the best thing I've ever seen
@Jessyca Zander I was the table
“We should make friends with him😏”
“Boys scare me” felt that.
*Tries to hide jealousy*
"Can someone tell me who this man is?"
Laurie was so friggin jelly.. bless his little heart.. 😌😌😌
Lol I think it was more over-protective brother Laurie (since he realised that he loved Amy romantically, Jo is more of a sister to him at this point).
@ShayAliyah actually.... That makes more sense... 🤔🤔
@alexisbesst8698 also there is a stranger who just randomly appears ofc he’s gonna be like who are you
@ShayAliyah jo is still his FIRST love, it was clearly jealousy and over protectiveness. can you just let people have their own opinions on the characters?..
I lose it every time at Amy reacting to Jo selling her hair with "YOUR ONE BEAUTY!" 😂😂 Amy really got the best lines lmao

She and Jo had always had that kind of antagonistic and passive aggressive relationship, so it made sense to assume she was making a passive aggressive jab, maybe even unconsciously because it was second nature lol
And then Laurie turns away snickering when Jo cut her hair.😂😂😂😂😂
when Laurie gives her the drink
I love that moment!
Haha that is funny
Me, when my dad snuck a beer for me at age 5, to convince me that I wouldn't like it just so I would leave my poor mum alone, lol!
They are so good together, all fun , Exactly how they should beeee
i cry every time it’s so cute
"There is a girl"
"That's a girl" honesty this movie and
"Boys scare me" it's just amazing
Aw, you caught Laurie mouthing Amy's lines.
When?🥺
@bianka3686 7:56 ;)
Haha thanks :)
Wait why does he do that?
tim bein so excited for this moment like hell yes
*jo reveals her cut hair*
*basically her whole family:* oH mY hEAvEnS yOUR OnE bEautY
*jo, literally played by the beautiful saoirse ronan*
i feel like i’m watching keeping up with the kardashians-
Okay I have to do this
Meg= Kourtney
Jo= Khloé
Beth= Kendall
Amy= Kim
@MichielBLKorte I feel like Amy would be Khloe and jo would be Kim though. Because Kim is the brains of the operation and Khloe is the one that arranges things the way the should be. Also Khloe is more sensitive than Kim which suits Amy.
PLS I WAS ABOUT TO SAY THAT
@maheenm.k1015 Ok, I agree but can you imagine Amy after burning Jo's books saying “It's what she deserves.”
@mythicalpotato9301 not once she feels remorse but in the moment she does it she thinks she giving jo "what she deserves"
I laughed for 5 straight minutes at 3:43 when it says, "Me when she rejects him" 🤣 I felt that
Same.
Space song in the proposal scene? Here we go crying again
EXACTLY LIKE TF😭😭😭
literally a stab to the heart
FR I FELT THE TEARS SPAWNING
what song is thissss????
@growingwithjae space song by beach house
And in that moment, Aunt March knew that when Amy called Laurie from the carriage, Amy was in fact NOT going to get engaged with Fred Vaughn. 😆
do yall notice that in the proposal scene Jo is wearing his vest
AWWWW
I read that they interchanged wardrobe throughout the movie to emphasize the bond they had
and he was wearing it when jo gave him her ring doing a proposal pose
STOP now I'm crying again
Yea- **CRIES**
The way Laurie says "Yes, isn't it romantic?!" is hilarious every time 😂 4:53
Fr! I’m hysterical every time
This comment section is about to be mad at me, but I really don't think that Laurie and Jo should have romantically been together. I think they were best as a non-romantic relationship
we all have opinions 😀☺️
YESYES jo never regarded laurie as a lover !!
however, i do not like that amy and laurie ended up together. i think amy deserved better :(
I agree with this 100%
i honestly would’ve liked it if she didn’t end up with anyone and her platonic soulmate was laurie
“Someone tell me who this man is”
“SHHHHHH”
Caught me off guard with the proposal scene, had me crying
Same :,(
That song fits so well D: I’m trying to hold back a sob
too true, and when he says "and I'll watch."
i was not ready
@CherryMiriam Do you know the name of the song?
Space Song by Beach House @1989Swiftie4ever
Florence is so cute when she laughs at Emma’s hair being burnt off but especially during the part she’s crying and says “I’m Amy”
When Amy practically falls of the wagon to go hug Laurie!!
Whatever 🙄
Would like this comment ,but it's got 69 likes and I don't want to disturb it ..
0:40 “why is your hair off?” I love beth
watched this in theatres and its one of my favorite films. I've never watched something that has made me feel so many emotions within a two hour time span.

I cried I laughed I cried I laughed lol all by myself with like 20 elderly people
@samanthal133 mood omg everybody in the theater was elderly
@samanthal133 ME TOO! There were like 15 people in total in the theatre and most of them were like 50+ years old
@samanthal133 Yep. I was a teenager girl sitting next to a whole bunch of elderly people.
Laurie and Jo are one of the best-unrequited romances ever. You so desperately want Jo to love him because they'd be such a wonderful couple but it's also so tragically perfect that she can't. Teddy: *dramatically poses for a painting*
8:05 Laurie is just like “dammit grandfather ur supposed to be on my side”
to Joe and Laurie: WE WERE ROOTING FOR YOU, WE WERE ALL ROOTING FOR YOU!
OMG IS THAT A RUPAUL REFERENCE??
no I wasn't
Amy: "Aren't you ashamed of a hand like that?"
Laurie: *pauses*
Laurie: "no I'm not."
LMAO💀
idk why but amy's laugh is precious
Because it's Florence Pugh’s laugh and she is precious and so is everything else she does
@mariambelkhir1075 took the words right out of my mouth
5:14 Laurie’s face when he turns around so they don’t see him laughing😂😂
Nothing hurts more than watching Jo reject Laurie
thanks god she did
Jo and Laurie are the the definition of "we could have been so good together"
"I may not always be right, but I'm never wrong."
-Aunt March
"theres a girl out there!"
Lmfao they sounded like a bird watcher lmfao
Hello there... Are you hurt? *Pure concern*

Yes because if it doesn’t last you lose a friend. If it does last your friend becomes your best friend do
I think that Jo is just afraid of marriage bc she thinks she will lose her liberty
This makes so much sense, thank you
I think marriage is too much of a burden to her. She’s a free spirit who wants to keep going forward wherever the wind takes her. ugh laurie and jo were a perfect example of right person wrong time
wtf you described exactly how i feel
Chalamet just out here mouthing everyone’s words
part of the implication of the ending of the movie is that it never actually happened since jo for her book wouldn't have wanted to "sell out" her female lead to marriage

yeah i believe jo ended up single as she always wanted
Oh, Jo is SUCH a lesbian
@s.g.7572 OR AROMANTIC, if a woman doesn’t wanna be married- she isnt automatically a lesbian, aromantic(+asexuals) exist u know
yeah and i always felt the ending was so forced like he just comes out of no where

M-Me . . . They're perfect together

oh god i remember reading the book so i could watch the movie and screaming at jo both times when she rejected laurie AND THEN WHEN HE MARRIED AMY????

the proposal scene breaks me every time 😁
*laurie and jo just having their moment*
out of nowhere, amy drowning: JO 👹👹
I just watched this movie and I'm totally in love with it. However the scene where Jo rejects Laurie couldn't make me cry because I was still crying over Beth and I just couldn't let her go TT-TT
Amy and Laurie are everything! I don’t understand how people want Jo and Laurie to end up together after she only wanted to marry him because she did not want to be alone? He even says to Jo he loves Amy in a different way and they’re so bloody cute together 🥰 a guy and a girl can be friends without it ending in a relationship
@This Ain't Me I’m pretty sure people who read the books can come to a similar conclusion as this
@This Ain't Me In that case Laurie doesn’t deserve any of them
How can't u understand? They had a long ass history? I do think Laurie and Amy are cute together. But damn it hurts, because of the history he had with Jo. Also don't forget the mess they ALL are.
@JoyJ76539 i believe he didn't
@thisaintme2173 That's not accurate. He doesn't disregard her.
Everytime I see chalamet I think, "elio elio elio elio, I remember everything"
I cried more when jo felt lonely after realizing that the man who tried to have a relationship with her now had it with her sister. I just think is so deeply relatable the feeling of "I rejected a romance between us ´cause what I felt wasn´t enough but now i feel so lonely that I´ld settle with that" and it sucks, it hurts a lot and I´m thankfull for seing it represented and not just the "she rejected him so she´s bad" usual trope
the whole Laurie and jo scene is something...just noooooo! god nooo
Michael Scott
i've never realized how subtly funny beth's reactions were😭
The drop of the Song 6:07 pefect when the realisation sinks in

Amy pleaseee. You don't have the right to ship her with the professor when you literally married her bestfriend off the bat lmao
Ahahahah...
Jo: "Amy you and Laurie ended up together in 3 chapters... please, don't say anything!...
Amy : Meeee? And youuu??
Jo: ... And me? 🤔

@samlal3618 just the string my sister tried to curl 😂😂 we stopped after that. But we did use it before that, but my mother was more used to it than my sister. Idk if we still have it, I hope so its a good memory 😂
his face at minute 2:23 is killing me every time
As much as I love this film, I wish Jo made the decision to be with someone by herself, not because everyone else told her that she loves him.

2:12 the best part is he's not even standing on something, he's just got one leg in the air to be dramatic and such a poser
i was reading a fanfic and the people were fighting and i was expecting one of them to say “i love you” and then i was like “oh haha what’s that one movie where the girl is giving her speech and the guy just keeps interrupting with ‘i love you’??” AND I CAME ON RUclips TO TRY AND FIND IT but got distracted and i was like “ooo little women this is the last thing i’ll watch and then i’ll look for the other thing” and i realized like 2 mins in that THIS was the movie i was thinking of ANYWAYS LMAO
