This isn't an Elvis song. '50s-style Crazy Little Thing Called Love , was made by Freddy Mercury himself, as an homage to Elvis of course, which he was a fan. He made this song two years after Elvis death. I suspect you hear the original studio version, of Freddy mercury. Which is always a bit different in live concert.

Crazy Little Thing Called Love was written by Freddie in honor of Elvis while he was taking a bubble bath. Another song mistaken as not theirs is "Stone Cold Crazy" Some people believed Metallica wrote it, they just did it as a cover. Queen wrote it and actually opened the door to thrash metal when they performed it back in the 70's. Vanilla Ice also stole a rift from Queen and was sued for it. If you listen to "Ice Ice Baby" the beginning of it is the same as the beginning of Queens "Under Pressure"

Roger Taylor wrote Radio Gaga. I love Freddie with the crowd... he was a great showman. He actually had a throat infection that day and was told by doctors not to perform but history was made instead... Crazy Little Thing Called Love was written by Freddie in a 50s style. Many artists have recorded it after them but it is a Queen song... Brian came up with We Will Rock You...

Great reaction girls! Although Crazy Little Thing Called Love was written by Freddie in 1979 as a tribute to Elvis, who had died in 1977, so its impossible that you have heard Elvis sing it. Freddie had a way of connecting with the audience, even those right in the back row, that transcended all others. Modern artists can put in a good show with their dance moves, but Freddie didn’t need that. He was and still is absolutely adored by all his fans and it’s been 30 years this year, since his death. To truly appreciate how phenomenal they were live, check out Somebody to Love live at Montreal, Who Wants to Live Forever live at Budapest and Love of my Life live at Rio or Wembley. But their most energetic performance would be Now I’m Here live at Wembley. Roger said it was the hardest physically for him to do, Deacy is bopping to his bass, and Freddie is everywhere, running all over the place and so charismatic it’s impossible to take your eyes off him. It’s amazing! So I hope you come back and do some more Queen soon, I’ll be looking forward to it

Queen rarely perform songs from other artists except during a small loose section of their concert where they would perform songs from some artist that has been their favorite while growing up like Little Richard (Tutti Frutti) , Buddy Holly (You're So Square), Ricky Nelson (Hello MaryLou), and Elvis (Jailhouse Rock).
BTW - Elvis never sang "Crazy Little Thing Called Love". Freddie wrote it in 1979 but Elvis died in 1977. Freddie wrote it as a tribute to Elvis who he admired.

Queen doesn't need to cover others. They write their own songs! 😁
So, no! It's not an Elvis song, but written in "Elvis style" as a tribute to him.
You *can not* heard it by Elvis, since Elvis was already dead when Freddie composed that song.
What you heard was Freddie imitating Elvis. :-)

At the time of Live Aid I was serving in the British Royal Marine Commandos in a refugee camp in Ethiopia. We listened to it on the radio. We were surrounded by the full horror of the Famine, but when Queen came on the radio those poor soles who were there even reacted in a very positive way. I remember that a lot of us Royal Marine Commandos were crying watching some of the children dancing along, I'm teary eyed just remembering. I looked around at men I had fought alongside, who were tough, hardened Royal Marine Commandos who had fought a life and death war against Argentinian's in 82. By the end of Queen's set we were dancing with the children. It went along way to help build their trust in us. The famine is only one of many terrible memories I have from 34 years of active service, and 2 years hospitalisation. But when I remember the smiles on the children's faces, and their laughter at the terrible way we danced always reminds me that humanity will always find it's way through even the worst of times. I only watched it for the first time last year, my son put it on the TV. A lot of memories came back and a lot of tears. My amazing Wife took me to see Queen at Wembley, U.K., in 1986 two weeks after I got back from Ethiopia as a surprise. I saw Queen live 6 times in all, they were incredible live. And yes, I am an old fart.

All tribute songs are written by Queen for example ONE VISION (inspired by MLK speech) SOMEBODY TO LOVE (inspired by Aretha Franklin) LIFE IS REAL (tribute to John Lennon) CRAY LITTLE THING CALLED LOVE (tribute to Elvis). The Live Aid performance is a 20 min set of perfection. Each artist was given the same amount of time ..... but Queen’s performance went down in rock history as the best!! The song HAMMER TO FALL was used in the TV series “Stranger Things”. If you pay attention to commercials Queen songs are used a lot .. I WANT IT ALL (T-Mobile). 👏👏

”Crasy little thing called love” was written by Queen a few years after Elvis’s death (1977).

I didn't have much truck with Live Aid as a 12 year old - already sensing that here was an opportunity for rich people themselves to have given the money as much as the time - but it did rehabilitate a lot of careers. Queen weren't quite in trouble, but they were - like a few other acts on the list - a seventies band living in the eighties and having to adapt. But they took full advantage of the opportunity and it kind of brought them all the way back.

Crazy little thing called love was written by Freddie and was a tribute to Elvis. It’s why he sounds similar to him in the song instead of his normal showing off his legendary vocal abilities.

4:00 I see you. Don't be shy. Freddie has reach out from Eternity and laid hands on you. Let the Music flow. Freddie Mercury as the real deal. He wrote his on music, sang, played the Piano & Guitar, had crowd control on an Epic level. Was the OG Extrovert. Invented the OG Power Stance. AND Each member of Queen has their own college degree. Brian May earned his PhD in astrophysics in 2007. Freddie Mercury had a degree in graphic art and design. John Deacon has a degree in Electronics, and Roger Taylor has a bachelor's degree in biology

Love the look on your faces when you found out a song you've known practically all your life is a Queen song. And Crazy Little Thing Called Love is also a Queen song, written by Freddie Mercury in 1979 while taking a bath at the Munich Hilton. It was a tribute to Elvis who had passed away a couple of years earlier. Somebody To Love Live In Montreal 1981 should be next!

It was however written as a tribute to Elvis, by Mercury.
