I was going to ask for a catch, kill, and cook of the snake head. But making catfish chum works too. Just dont do what people here do with what they call JUNK fish and leave it on the banks.
Snakeheads do not eat voraciously, they do not ruin ecosystems. They are ambush predators, do not listen to people who label these fish as monsters. They are here to stay so might as well accept them as a new game fish.
I use snap swivels too its a pain in the ass to be cutting and retieing on lures. I like to switch out my lures to see what they like. I use it to when catching bluegill I just put a hook with nightcrawlers and they catch on. my other rod tip broke so I'm down to one rod that's why mostly I use the swivels I can change out when I see a bass
I don't use them because pretty much 98% of snaps and/or swivels are very cheaply made and pretty much snap or bend or the pin gets super bent after mild use, un snapping and snapping things back on and off. I find snap swivels fine for panfishing, that I do agree with. I do that as well if I find myself pan fishing, but most of the time I still tie my hook on directly.
Snap swivels are only really good for spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, and chatterbaits. Anything else is basically better to manually tie on. Quitting with the swivels was probably one of my best choices when it comes to fishing.
I enjoy some of the contents here, but this video is definitely a down for me. You wanna fix the ecosystem with the premises of getting rid of invasive Species of fish? Make sure you kill everything that is invasive in your area then. That includes all types of Cichlids, Clown Knifefish, Flathead Catfish, Blue Catfish, Yellow Perch, Common Carp, and even the Butterfly Peacock Bass. And then you may come to me and say: _"Oh, but Snakeheads are different. They actually damage the ecosystem."_ And this is when I say: *do your research, please.* State-of-art research in the United States of America has been showing that Snakeheads are not destroying the ecosystem whatsoever. These fish are not eating game-fish or destroying their populations, as their diets are typical of a lie-in-wait predator's. In other words, Snakeheads are just another invasive Species out there! Just another one. Please read a few scholarly articles before spreading false information on the Internet. That only adds to the mass hysteria out there and make people even more ignorant of the apparent facts. Credible sources are not your uncle or your friend, tabloid articles, internet articles on sketchy websites, etc. Credible sources are not governmental rules and regulations that didn't do CRAP for research and just decided to judge a fish. Credible sources are scholarly articles and journals that were made and written by EXPERTS in the field: fisheries biologists and ichthyologists who conducted research on the Species and drew data from it. Credible sources come from books that were written by EXPERTS in the field. I just wanted to point that out. I am not discouraging you from posting contents here and I am not saying that I hate you or your Channel. Quite the opposite -- keep the contents coming! But seriously, though...do a bit of research before spreading fake info. Tight lines!
i don't take any offense to your comment at all i know your just trying to state facts....but i guess everyone has there own opinion on the matter some people kill them some people don't but don't worry @noobangler schooled me/roasted me i now accept the snakehead as my lord and savior. :) me and snakeheads have no beef lol
nice to see you here, & thank you for explaining that. & there are checks & balances in every aspect of life. those snakeheads, bowfin, gar etc. they are part of the ecosystem. tight lines 😊
If you do go fishing, you should keep a cooler or a bucket with you so you can take fish like those snake heads home with you if you want to eat them. That's what I recommend.
I fish mine with a swivel all the time until I figure out what color they really want to hit, then switch out to loop knot when I'm going to stick with a color. The swivel does absolutely nothing to the action of the frog. I've been lazy before and just left the swivel on and stick caught 20+ fish on the frog.
I use a swivel as a "quick-changer" until they start striking at the specific type/color of lure I use... ANNNDDD THEN.... I'm too lazy to switch to direct tie anyways... LOL...
i fish frogs on a swivel with 30kg steel leaders for pike, and even with the weight of the leader it doesnt make the frog nose dive or effect the action so youre talking shite.
Did you kill the snakeheads or just leave them out of the water? If you didn't kill them, they'll slither back into the water. they can survive out of water for a day or two. That's how they make their way from one body of water to another.
For future reference, you probably don't need a cooler in order to keep and eat the snakeheads. They're a tough fish, and it doesn't start to spoil until the fish is dead. If you don't go out of your way to kill it, it will probably stay alive, even without water, until you get home and then kill it and put it in your fridge or freezer or whatever you normally do. That's actually one of the reasons they're so popular in 3rd world countries as food, because they can be kept alive and kept from spoiling for a pretty long time, even without refrigeration.
unsubbed for killing fish for no reason, really disappointed in you.tought we were good friends...SIKE😂 nice video bro keep it up, keep on growing and growing I see😞😉 nice job
they can crawl from pond to pond and breath out of water. As long as they can keep moist they can breath open air just fine. Which is why they are such a big problem.
They wont suffocate, they can breathe air and can live up to 4 days if moist/wet without water. So you have to snap their necks of something to kill the once you catch em.
in Asia snake head almost done for.rarely to find big one anymore since it count as one of main dish here.taste really good especially when grill. btw,if u looking up for action, another type of snake head known as tomman aka monster snake head sure make a good adrenaline rush
Here in VA we have Northern Snakeheads, slightly different than bullseyes. Smallest one I've ever caught was 18in and the meat was delicious. Average length I've caught is 24in, but there are some much larger swimming in these waters. If I ever got a small one I would probably pan dress it and cook it on the grill with a wire fish basket.
One of my favorite ways to fish is in my creek, 2-3 pounders, not much at all but I can usually catch around 5-10 a day add those and it's not a bad meal.
there are two types of snakehead in south east asia, one is invasive useless species and the other beneficial for traditional medical treatment (wound, cuts etc). The first fish you caught i think it is a good species for medical.
Thanks for the video. I haven't had the opportunity to fish lately so this is the next best thing. That watermelon/chartreuse is my second best senko. Only beaten by the hard to find cotton candy senko.
I watched a different video earlier where they caught quite a few snakeheads, including two 6 lb'ers and the dimwits released every one of them. If they don't belong there you should kill them, whether you eat them or not, and that goes to include the Peacock bass as well.
The FWC deemed them as not harmful as they had previously thought. You don't need to kill them anymore. A lot of people still think you need to but contact the FWC and they will tell you you don't need to kill them
Good job man! Many naturalists and vegans attack the hunter/fisherman community for killing animals when, in reality, they can have a positive impact on the environment (as seen in this video). There are invasive animals throughout America (and the world) that compete with native species for resources (food, water, etc.) I consider myself to be an environmentalist but I believe that we need more hunters and fisherman who are willing to combat the spreading of invasive species.
Unfortunately too many hunters & fishermen are hunting for food and have preferences for native species instead of invasive ones. I live near the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers where many people will keep catfish but throw the Asian Carp back because they are fishing for food. Many people here (in Western Kentucky) don't think Asian Carp are worth eating. However, these same people are contributing to the growing numbers of Asian Carp in our rivers!
I find if you're fishing in florida using senkos catches the smaller snakeheads but using topwater frogs gets the bigger ones, my PB was a 13 pounder I caught using the gambler Buzz N' Cane Toad White with a 4/0 Mustad Bass Hook, Worm hooks also work, I fishing mainly canals and catch a decent amount.. also what line are you using and if braid what pound because ive been having snakeheads snap 50 pound braid and ive been losing topwater frogs like crazy and each one is $6+
what do you do with the snakeheads after the catch i onow you dont release them but do you bring rhem somewhere or just kinda throw them out ? ( dont care who answers just as long as its true, and dont start fights)
In Malaysia,it is rare to found this bullseye snakehead. It is native species in Malaysia. As an invasive species they are so successful but as native species they failed.
1.) You're a guy who probably makes his living doing RUclips videos. Your cash flow depends on your fishing success in your videos. You wanna use snap swivels, more power to you. 2.) snakehead of any kind are really good eating. White meat, just like bass, halibut, and a ton of other scavenger fish. I'd not only keep any size, but eat any size, too. Far as I know, there's no size limit, daily limit, bag limit, or limit to number of snakehead in possession because they are so aggressive and invasive.
Palomar knot so east and you don't look like a noob. if any on e can name an FLW Pro who uses snap swivels. Go luck boys with them snaps. 50 seconds to tie a Palomar. If tied correct there will be no line stress from cinching it down. Break offs usually come from burning your line when your tightening the knot but only with mono and fluorocarbon this can happen. I've never broke off because of a bad knot and i last catch stripers, tiger muskie 40 plus inches, and a few 10 plus pound larger mouth all using the Palomar. There is meany more good knots with high braking strength but none with the speed that the Palomar can be tied in. Also 60 and 70 pound flat head catfish. Keep up the good fishing but learning how to use a strait tie to your lures WILL WILL make you a better fisherman. keep slaying them
I think the swivels are convenient and if they don’t affect the bites it’s no big deal,. I am one of your subs and like your videos, but maybe you have not Researched enough information on how snakehead are really affecting our ecosystem. I have personally seen them coexisting with bass in my lake. But that’s not what this comment is about , to each his own , no judgment here you’re still a great angler keep up the good videos.
First off, they are good eating. Second, we have no idea how bad they can be for the environment. Watch Robert Field's video on them. He talks to someone actually studying these fish.
Is a snakehead anything like a bowfin? I don't think, but they kind of look slightly similar... Maybe I'm crazy, but just wondering. Cause we have lots of bowfins here, but no snakeheads.
+Drannon Moore yeah and than snake heads for a canal some where near can just crawl on land to the pond they need to repopulate native fish that eat snake heads and do it by the 1000s that's how they solve the problem because the native fish will eventually all die back down because there won't be enough food for them in the other fish so two problems solved one the fish ate the snake heads and two there's not too many of that native fish
That's a good example why they should go. This proves they out competed bass in this pond and became more established. With someone killing them, the number will go down ad hopefully the fish that were already there could regain their numbers.
nice video !! i got a question these snakeheads you say is invasive are they not in they normal habitat are they inplantet of humans ??? im from sweden so i have no idea thats why im asking //best regards Meaty
Speaking of fixing the environment, you should go spear fishing for lion fish.
Finally someone actually kills snakeheads 😂
Right but I mean u don’t have to kill them but I prefer to kill them
I grind them up for catfish chum.
Great idea man.
Thanks man, i usually just catch a bunch of bluegill and cut em up for chum, but i wanna try this.
I was going to ask for a catch, kill, and cook of the snake head. But making catfish chum works too. Just dont do what people here do with what they call JUNK fish and leave it on the banks.
thanks for doing this we need every bit of help we can get
Lovin your videos. I'm 15 and that's all I like to do is fish
awesome man keep fishin!
What's the biggest you've ever caught?
+Kaden Deerfield I've never caught a snakehead
+Josh Ledbetter what's the biggest fish you've ever caught
+Kaden Deerfield
Saltwater-15lb redfish
Freshwater-2 1/2lb bass
What ecosystem? A small ass drainage pond? What a hero.
lol
fuck haters I use snap swivels . they are so convenient.
Yep love them tho I do believe they can prevent fish from biting sometimes
hell ya they are you don't have to tie a new lure on each time its so easy
forealll
A polymer not literally takes 20 seconds to tie. Im not going to roast you, but C'MON MAN
Well it's sad to say any real fisher man would know how to spell knot and snap swivels are easy I an tie just choose not to
Snakeheads do not eat voraciously, they do not ruin ecosystems. They are ambush predators, do not listen to people who label these fish as monsters. They are here to stay so might as well accept them as a new game fish.
I live in central mn and if I ever caught one of those I'd mount the damn thing
Man as soon as the bait hit the water you got were getting hits. Liked the video keep up the good work.
thanks man I appreciate the support it means a lot
i use snap swivels too
My whole life, and I have never had a problem!
+will morgan same. Easy to change bait
Would you know if you were having a problem if you always use snap swivels?
+Ryan Pellegrini what do you mean
If you catch enough big fish you will break off really fast. U should always just re tie or u will lose lures

Have fun breaking off

I enjoy catching new things kill none lol
lmao peacocks are actually helping us they generate so much money for our economy fym
nice to see you here, & thank you for explaining that. & there are checks & balances in every aspect of life. those snakeheads, bowfin, gar etc. they are part of the ecosystem. tight lines 😊
hey was catching snakehead that's why he said that
thanks for helping the ecosystem and making good video thx :)
Snakeheads are here to stay bro. Theyve been around for years.
yea they are here to stay
they are here to slay.
We are all trying to get rid of them.... not much progress if you ask me :S
They are not in my neck of the woods in strong numbers yet.
Tell yo what, they look like they will be nice cut bait.
15+ years
If you do go fishing, you should keep a cooler or a bucket with you so you can take fish like those snake heads home with you if you want to eat them. That's what I recommend.
A swivel on a frog? That's messed up it makes the nose of the frog dive down and dig in just spend the extra min and direct tie
I fish mine with a swivel all the time until I figure out what color they really want to hit, then switch out to loop knot when I'm going to stick with a color. The swivel does absolutely nothing to the action of the frog.
I've been lazy before and just left the swivel on and stick caught 20+ fish on the frog.
ohhhh, he told you

i fish frogs on a swivel with 30kg steel leaders for pike, and even with the weight of the leader it doesnt make the frog nose dive or effect the action so youre talking shite.
snap swivels are the best for changing baits without the hassle. But I mainly use them for catfishing so I can change the hook from big to small.
Did you kill the snakeheads or just leave them out of the water? If you didn't kill them, they'll slither back into the water. they can survive out of water for a day or two. That's how they make their way from one body of water to another.
I use swivels too! Really convenient for the non tournament fishermen that has a rod and reel for each lure
How did u kill them
+Jamie Hubert knock on the head they feel no pain
TallFishermanJ You did the right thing
+TallFishermanJ can you not eat them?
you can eat snake heads they taste really good if made right
So, did you eat them or give them to a friend who likes fish?
For future reference, you probably don't need a cooler in order to keep and eat the snakeheads. They're a tough fish, and it doesn't start to spoil until the fish is dead. If you don't go out of your way to kill it, it will probably stay alive, even without water, until you get home and then kill it and put it in your fridge or freezer or whatever you normally do. hahahahhahahhqhhhh thanks man!!
+TallFishermanJ Anytime bro,,let me DM you, I have a question!
+ReelingThemIn I was really pissed for a second until I read the whole thing 😂😂
+Joshua Rose 😂😂😂 he's a very gr8 person and humble. I talk to him a lot and were chill!
Im not a big fisherman but this video was really interesting
Hopefully you were being humane and at least gill cut them so they didnt have to flop around and suffocate
stomp their head in that's how we do it bud
they can crawl from pond to pond and breath out of water. As long as they can keep moist they can breath open air just fine. Which is why they are such a big problem.
They wont suffocate, they can breathe air and can live up to 4 days if moist/wet without water. So you have to snap their necks of something to kill the once you catch em.
fish do not have the neuro-physiological capacity for a conscious awareness of pain.
By any chance Ryan do u live in Lafayette California
in Asia snake head almost done for.rarely to find big one anymore since it count as one of main dish here.taste really good especially when grill. btw,if u looking up for action, another type of snake head known as tomman aka monster snake head sure make a good adrenaline rush
there actually not that bad.there reputation is exagerated
if any thing they rid of the evasive species that are actually harmfull
And what happens when those fish's populations go down, people find a way to control them, or for some odd reason die out?
😧 who else misses summer
AnglingTV you do realize there invasive right.....That means that there bad for you and the ecosystem
Here in VA we have Northern Snakeheads, slightly different than bullseyes. Smallest one I've ever caught was 18in and the meat was delicious. Nice video man, I have never hooked up a snakehead where I live. Looks like they put up a fun little fight! 👍🏼
Snaps are smart man.
man i was about to bash you for the swivel, but your annotation helped. they do effect presentation and action.
lol I know it's a convenience thing for me lol
what made a snakehead if you know like did fish interbreed or was it something else not sure please explain
Nice job, sir. Keep up the good fight. The only way this could be improved would be to watch you smack them down.
+f0rmaggi0 lol!
I use snap swivels because its way easier to change lures if you dont have a bunch of rods with lures already on them
One of my favorite ways to fish is in my creek, 2-3 pounders, not much at all but I can usually catch around 5-10 a day add those and it's not a bad meal.
thanks for clearing that up for me
Trim the tassles on the frog about half way. you can leave one a little longer for side to side action.
Snakeheads are REALLY GOOD EATING!
snakehead is good eating. They are all over SE Asia!
I wanna try one never eaten then yet
+MetroDET2011 actually it was a white lawyer who wanted an exotic pet
Good for you. Thank you. Catch some carp, tilapia, and eat them! Very invasive species. Lionfish if you get the chance, good eats. Great vid man.
there are two types of snakehead in south east asia, one is invasive useless species and the other beneficial for traditional medical treatment (wound, cuts etc). The first fish you caught i think it is a good species for medical.
those fish are actually really good eating
great vídeo keep catching them
Thanks for the video. I haven't had the opportunity to fish lately so this is the next best thing. That watermelon/chartreuse is my second best senko. Only beaten by the hard to find cotton candy senko.
glad you enjoy the vids hopefully u can get out there and fish soon
That orange one is a spawner and those "bubbles" you saw were actually it's babies. It's that time of year
Snakehead taste sooooo good
i dont ussuali watch fishing videos but this was interesting. Keep it up :D!!!
glad I can catch ur interest appreciate the support!
+TallFishermanJ no problem man! you sound like a realy chill person!
Same
I watched a different video earlier where they caught quite a few snakeheads, including two 6 lb'ers and the dimwits released every one of them. If they don't belong there you should kill them, whether you eat them or not, and that goes to include the Peacock bass as well.
The FWC deemed them as not harmful as they had previously thought. You don't need to kill them anymore. A lot of people still think you need to but contact the FWC and they will tell you you don't need to kill them
yea I'm thinking of just leaving them be for now honestly but they are good eating
they still recommend to kill them though so
im using 10lb small snap swivel and doesnt have any problems. its really convenient for me to change my lure.

Snakehead=KILLEMALL!!
small but epic fast catch
You don't have to kill these fish. They don't mess up the ecosystem. I catch bass every time I snakehead fish
yeah thats true, I mean, if you are going to release tilapia peacocks and cichlids why kill snakehead, they are not that harmfull
I actually release every fish I catch, no matter its species, If I catch It Its going back
snap swivels are awesome
In Malaysia,it is rare to found this bullseye snakehead. It is native species in Malaysia. As an invasive species they are so successful but as native species they failed.
Tôi ở việt nam...và tôi rất thích những lưỡi câu giống như của bạn..nó rất tuyệt vời...😢😢😢

bro set the damn hook
You should try a top water frog that place is great for it
Great vid!!!! And can't wait for my package and for more vids!!!!!!
wooohooooo
Good video keep it going and screw snakeheads

U should do a vid with u and a buddy having a competition on who can catch the most in 2 hours
I have done that!:)
Nice vid man
HOLD UP, WASNT THAT THE PLACE THAT THE RIVER MONSTERS SNAKEHEAD EPISODE WAS LOCATED IN?!?!
Great video. I've heard snakeheads are good eating. Do you eat them?
need to trim the skirt and bend the hooks to be more parallel with the body. your hookup ratio will increase significantly.
I chase red fin perch because they are pests in Australia and they are delicious
I think the swivels are convenient and if they don’t affect the bites it’s no big deal,. Those snakehead you could make a lot of money in Vietnam market.
First off, they are good eating. Second, we have no idea how bad they can be for the environment. Watch Robert Field's video on them. He talks to someone actually studying these fish.
How do you find these areas? And when you do find bodies of water, how do you know if it's public property?
I use the snaps when I'm running trolling motor or just fishing on land because you waste less line
Coral springs right near the police station if im not mistaken?
I live in Davie and there's an area where there's a little bridge and if you go there you'll get some fish I think it's of of university
I have the same rod bass pro tourney special. I never used it yet. How good is the rod?
You have to take those snake heads to a check station or anything
Is a snakehead anything like a bowfin? I don't think, but they kind of look slightly similar... Maybe I'm crazy, but just wondering. Cause we have lots of bowfins here, but no snakeheads.
Bowfin are good to keep around.
Just curious, Do you actually eat the snake heads that you catch or do you feed it to some wild animals or cats on the way back home?
in this particular case I did not eat them I threw them back in the water where other wildlife can eat
Snakeheads are the only thing you seem to catch, wouldn't make sense to kill them all then you wont catch anything?
The pond could be repopulated with native fish!
What did you do to those snake heads, cause I want to know

+Liquid Souls hmm where would I even look? I live right in the middle of Minnesota.
+Devin Baker search up your state fish
can you make a video on how you rig your senkos
nice video man! You just earned a sub!
Are they a type of catfish? What are you using?
You're about to get roasted, oh *snap*
They aren't found to be a problem to the bass population yet
I don't think that there are any snakeheads in Missouri. Good vid
I get that you kill the snakeheads when you catch them but what do you do with them. eat them or just throw em out?
swkelley snakeheads are invasive in most places in the usa
Heard they are good eatin too
Who taught you to fish, like did your dad teach you, or one day you just decided to try out fishing?
i dont think its the fish's commitment to the lure, ive watched the video 3 times and its your presentation and hook sets that hurts you most.
Are they good eating? if they are, kind of a bonus.
They are great
Most hate it but some love it, I guess it's just about how it's cooked but I've never had it.
All white meat my friend. Delicious
