Jermaine, I really have had a change of heart as far as snakeheads are concerned. I really could care less how many snakeheads are here. I enjoy catching them and hope the Giant is on it's way to South Florida.
I love every minute of this!!!!!!! You guys need to come here to P.A.. Theres alot off people that simply dont understand the value of what you are doing...Hell, I will hop in the boat with you to simply be the DH...Anything to bring up my current Batting Average.....Thanks Again Fellas!!!
you dont know how lucky you are with the fish you have in the states i am from the north east of england we have nothing like the fish you have good luck with the snake heads kill a few for me guys
Anglers are encouraged to kill any snakeheads or other nonnative fishes they catch. Anglers can either eat nonnative fish or give them to someone who will. This will help reduce their impacts on native species. It is almost impossible to distinguish a native bowfin (mudfish) from an nonnative bullseye snakehead without removing it from the water and examining it more closely. In fact, bowfin are so similar that even fisheries scientists have misidentified them as snakeheads. This is directly from the FWC.
That's one of the most uneducated statements I've heard in years. Anyone with any experience with these fish will have no problem distinguishing what is what without even getting them close to the boat. Go get some expeience, as in years and years of dealing with both species on a daily basis and then come back and read your statement.
@flyfishingprodigy We have been asked by the Florida Wildlife Commission to not return them to the water, so we kill them all. They are excellent table fare! Taste better than any other feresh water fish in S. Florida. Thanks for watching!
Captainshane: Kudos for this vid. I just moved to NC from Broward, and spent my weekends fishing up and down the lakes and canals of sofl, including the Glades. You guys are doing a huge service by eliminating those nasty invasive fish. Good job! Save our waterways!
What do you mean its not legal? The FWC clearly states that its ENCOURAGED for anglers to kill snakeheads. "Encouraged" means they want you to kill them but it does not matter. If you dont believe me find somthing that states its illegal to catch and release snakeheads from FWC. It is illegal to release these if it was a pet or transport them to new lakes but it is not illegal to catch and release
Idk where you are but there is a chance that its illegal to keep one as a pet XD also, you may want to reconsider b/c they have been known to jump out of the tank, make a mess by splashing water all over and also breaking the tank itself XP so unless you want to have a small pond in your bedroom or wherever then don't get one XD they have been known to break aquariums like nothing
***** they're 100% illegal here in Cali but then again certain car modifications are illegal here too but we all do it anyway so that's no biggie to me... I think that could be fixed with bigger glass. And a good lid to the tank.
Maybe but they are still pretty damn aggressive XD gunna need a special modified tank to hold one haha and if you get tired of him just eat him don't release haha
***** I don't think that would be a problem if released lol! We have a bad drought and we're gonna have no water here in like a year lol. But I wouldn't do that in all seriousness cuz that would be bad lol. But I've seen stuff on RUclips with giant snakeheads in tanks
if you release him even in low water they will thrive XD they breath air and as long as they are moist they will walk on land and live for 3 days XP so that mud puddle is a life saver for them haha and idk if all states ban them or not XP best just to keep hush hush about it tho if you do plan on anything haha
Good luck with that :o) I not only release them now but do it on film. The whole snakehead invasion is hype and bunk. The snakehead has found it's place in the South Florida waterways. I'am catching bass of all sizes in the snakehead areas. When I filmed this a year and a half ago I was in the "Kill Em All" frame of mind. Now...I really could care less who does what with the fish they catch. Thanks for watching.
These fish deserved to be taken out because of how they decimate the native fish populations. They are brutal and can take over and entire area pretty quick.
by the way I don't exactly have much faith for those in government. so personally I think any of these officials could be mistaken. also could be they haven't updated their website, laws, or their employees yet. just my experience with people in government is that they are not reliable and not held to any sort of standard normal people are. that could be the explanation with the inconsistency.
i like in broward and i fish alot in backyard lakes. do you think i can catch them here? also, when do you know when their dead? i assume when they spaz out?
@whitebathroomguy Not really sure where we were but it was in Coral Springs. Still getting to know the area. I do know that the Coral Springs area is eat up with snakeheads.
I have had people shy away from eating them for the same reason. I was doing a show and the host wanted to have a local restaurant cook them. The chef RAN out the back door when he heard we were in the restaurant with snakeheads. I guess all he heard was SNAKE and he was gone :)
Don a trip to Malaysa is on my bucket list. I know you get the big ones and I would love to get tight on one of the Asain monsters. I have heard that the fish has medicinal properties.
Ryan, I catch mudfish all the time on while in the everglades. Yes similiar...but there are distinct differences like the dorsal fin, and the big false eye on the tails of the snakehead.
Keep it goin' fellas. It's a relief to know you're at it - we need local troops all over workin' on this! The idiots that released them deserve this treatment too
@Mr4224salah I am not sure thye are illegal to keep in a fish tank. They are considered an invasive species (non-native) and therefore not permitted to be released into our waterways. I do know that they are illegal to transport alive.
@Mr4224salah The reason we have the snakehead in our waterways now is because someone kept them and then they were released into the waterways of South Florida. I do not know if it is legal or illegal to keep one as a pet.
That is normally how invasives species get into the system. In south Florida we have alot of pet owners who have let all sorts of weird things loose in the everglades.
They are not hard as long as you understand the nature of the fish. I would say they are more aggressive...so probably a little easier. Now if you can't cast acurately...then they are extremely difficult to catch.
I enjoyed the video. Ive been curious about this fish since discovering they are in our complexes lake. Im worried they will take over & eat all the native fish. Not sure what to do about it. Any ssuggestions other than catch em myself?
Thank you for watching! C'mon down and kill some.
I'm happy to know that people are helping our local ecosystem
Yea
Great video! You saved a lot of Bass' lives that day
Sponsor me already :o) seriously ...sometime in the near future something like that will happen. thanks for watching!
Great video guys. Keep it up. I also enjoyed reading all of the misinformed hater comments.
Jermaine, I really have had a change of heart as far as snakeheads are concerned. I really could care less how many snakeheads are here. I enjoy catching them and hope the Giant is on it's way to South Florida.
Most satisfying ping when one gets thumped on the head
Still one of my favorite videos. Awesome buddy.
that bat sounds so sweet every hit 😂

I appreciate your kind words Charlie!
That was actually hilarious
you dont know how lucky you are with the fish you have in the states i am from the north east of england we have nothing like the fish you have good luck with the snake heads kill a few for me guys
They are from malysia and fat boys land aka North Korea
Great fishing trip. Snake heads are here to stay they fight well as you can see and they eat even better. Good video, Thanks.
Anglers are encouraged to kill any snakeheads or other nonnative fishes they catch. Anglers can either eat nonnative fish or give them to someone who will. This will help reduce their impacts on native species.

Love watching you guys catch them Exotic Swamp Muskies! Looks like a lot of fun!
65FullMoon83 They are fun
Dude, you're batting .340
@flyfishingprodigy We have been asked by the Florida Wildlife Commission to not return them to the water, so we kill them all. They are excellent table fare! Taste better than any other feresh water fish in S. Florida. Thanks for watching!
this fish very rare n limited in malaysia.to find this fish must go to jungle.
Captainshane: Kudos for this vid. I just moved to NC from Broward, and spent my weekends fishing up and down the lakes and canals of sofl, including the Glades. You guys are doing a huge service by eliminating those nasty invasive fish. Good job! Save our waterways!
this fish are so expensive in indonesia, even it is hard to find and catch.. we use this for a medicine.
Need some lol.
You're more than welcome to come here and take them back to stock your waterways.
all in all snakehead fishing looks like a good day on the water! Get them all man!
I feel rather sinister (and psychotic) giggling at these fish being whacked.
Haze Mist Haze you might have a little wicked in you ;) Thanks for watching!
I killed one up north few days ago they are horrible
+Ryan Henderson they aren't up north you probably killed a bowfin, a similar looking fish but a native species.
I am glad someone is speaking from experience. May only the best catches for you, Captain Shane!
people complaining why they can't just release them, I suggest read the manual of why they couldn't. Yes, releasing them will result in a big fine.
+Jerry A dont talk bullshit you have no idea whats realy going on
Some other guy keeps saying it's now legal to release snakehead when caught. I can't find anything on it so I'm going to believe you instead.
The guys is called Swelkey, Go find him, he's in the comment section here. Tell him your info.
1fishmob ahh ok thats a nice info thx.

They are excellent..taste like a fantastic fish.
i would love to catch one and bring it home to keep in a tank as a pet lol.

No they aren't. I catch snakes and bass within 20 ft of each other all the time. You're spewing old information that has been found to not be true
There's a canal on 27 and 75 that has about 100 snake heads! Its a scary sight! Nice job guys.
have you guys tried eating these? some Asians go crazy for these so maybe they taste good? it would be easier to eradicate if they're tasty.
+Cliff Lee This is very tasty fish. Have you ever tried King fish.. if so... this is the king fish of fresh water. 5 to10$/Kilo in our place .
by the way I don't exactly have much faith for those in government. so personally I think any of these officials could be mistaken. also could be they haven't updated their website, laws, or their employees yet.

The sound of cracking their heads must be addictive. Gives a nice little ring.

The frog cam from JD'sCustombaits. You can google them and see their products. You can also order from their site.
i like in broward and i fish alot in backyard lakes. do you think i can catch them here? also, when do you know when their dead? i assume when they spaz out?

Thanks for the offer. However it is a fellony to transport a live snakehead. I appreciate you watching.
Do they exist only in fresh water?
Yes they are fantastic!
Good catch captain, great filet job.
+dipak patel Thank you sir!
Not too sure about that area. Just keep working the Tamarac, Sunrise, Coral Springs, Margate and SW Palm Beach County areas. Good luck!
It is a 4 3/4" kicking or buzz frog. jdscustombaits has them and so does brusier baits, I hand poured these myself.
There is an organized tournament put on by JD'sCustomBaits each month. You can google them and get involved.
Helping the environment, great fun, and good eating!
That is very interesting. I did not know the fish up there were foul.
You should get them in those ponds, lakes and canals.
Nice job guys!
Thanks
Any canal that comes off the C-14 or Hillsborough Canal.
Im laughing so hard at the sound of that club hitting them 😂
Your twisted lol
Nice bro..you'll love Florida!

yes they are great!
@Flatzout7 The meat is better than any other freshwater fish I have eaten. Fried, baked, Panko, Pan Seared.....you name it. Incredible!
Still haven't nailed my first snakehead yet, but I got a huge bass yesterday in a TINY canal behind Coral Springs Elementary.
They are excellent!
I use a Shimano Curado 200e7. Dan was useing a AbuGarcia
They do fight well and taste great!
Nice video, that almost looks funner than bass fishing. Fortunately, no snakeheads in New Hampshire.
You can cast to opposit bank with success. Parallel just allows you to be more thorough.
Hey guys, a canal called c-14 rite next to jptaravella high school in coral springs, countless number of snake head over there
I understand. This was a couple of years ago. I do not kill them anymore.
There's nothing like the sound of the crack of the bat!
Keep up the good work gentlemen.
Matthew I have never heard any reports of snakeheads in your area. I did get a report that there were some in Lakeland...but never saw any pictures.
well I'm sure they really wish they had of stayed there now... we sure do... good job guys, your keep our bass and even our feeder fish alive...
You guys need to come up to the Potomac because they are running wild im stilling trying to catch and eat my first one
Nice, never actually got one but I hear they are a really nice fight.
Thanks for the comment. They taste great so it's a good kill.
Snakehead is one of the most favorite fish here in asia...(phillipines).
Jayson Ayapana That is what I hear. Thanks for watching!
@Mr4224salah The reason we have the snakehead in our waterways now is because someone kept them and then they were released into the waterways of South Florida. I do not know if it is legal or illegal to keep one as a pet.

Yes it is fantastic!
awesome. love the delicate technique
let me answer ur question dude...you can fries it or make it as soup..the texture is soft...the tips is u hv to fillet it before fries..
They are not hard as long as you understand the nature of the fish. I would say they are more aggressive...so probably a little easier. Now if you can't cast acurately...then they are extremely difficult to catch.
Totally different fish.
yes..they taste great!
Thanks
Never seen a 3# goldfish. Have seen some big Coe down around Kendal
They are a really fun fish! Lucky you do not have them in NH
I enjoyed the video. Ive been curious about this fish since discovering they are in our complexes lake. Im worried they will take over & eat all the native fish. Not sure what to do about it. Any ssuggestions other than catch em myself?
I'm from Illinois and we got a small snakehead problem & they usually seam to bite frogs and crayfish
Cool video, I want to move to Florida.
minnows, turtles, bass, brim...etc
