All Cosmere knowledge is useful until proven otherwise. You never know what might become important in 10 years (and 76 books) time.
There's gonna be a massive plot twist in Stormlight 10 that requires us to understand Purelake sanitation systems for it to make sense.
@@genericallyentertaining exactly you get itttt
Fun fact: In The Way of Kings chapter 69, Dalinar tells how he sees Elhokar like a son.
This is because Dalinar is boinging Elhokar's mother.
Hold on, I’mma check if this is true
Oh my god it is
"Also I'm Courting your mother"
nice
This would have been an annoying spoiler if I hadn't finished the book a week ago. I have no idea where Stormlight is going (took a break to read Warbreaker) but I fucking love Dalinar. Pretty sure he's been death-flagged to high hell though.
Brandon is bringing a very new meaning to 'cremposting'
The lie becomes the truth. Mmmmmmm
When you find out the Purelakers cremmed all over the continent
I mean, most of it ends up as fertilizer in Shinovar, right? Thus the grass 🙂
@@KaydianBladebreaker Well, the mountains protecting Shinovar are probably covered in crem, but the land itself could also just be fertile because it's the only part where fertile soil isn't blown away every few weeks.
What does cremposting mean?
I am new to Cosmere
Regarding your question about the Purelakers. Do remember that one of the tasks of the Soulcasters in the Shattered Plain is to vaporize poop. Meaning there are people who are giving up their lives, slowly turning to smoke while using a sacred object to do quite literally the shittiest job in all of cosmere
This is a great point, and now I hope we get an interlude at some point about one of these people.
Even better, you have to be physically touching something to Soulcast it...
@@sashahoneypalm9330 exactly. LOL
@@genericallyentertaining we technically did ish, that liaforian princess that died going to aimia was a smoke soulcaster, so its we got a interlude about a smoke soulcaster.
The only "out there" cosmere fact that I found insanely interesting is there's a shardholder we've never seen because their shard's intent is based on self preservation and survival and they are REALLY good at hiding.
The shard's intent is actually something other than survival, as Brandon has said that there is no "survival" shard. Ergo, it is likely the nature of the shard bearer leading the intent of the shard to focus on survival.
like the other said, its intent is not survival or preservation. i read it was Whimsy but im not sure thats correct.
All we heard from Brandon was there is a shard in hiding that we don't know about.
@@reubenoakley5887 There are any number of intents it could have that would lead to survival being a strong part of its goals.
I don't think a bearer would have enough of an impact on the shard's intent to make it completely stop its normal actions in hopes of just hiding away. Remember Ati was kind before he took the shard of Ruin.
@@alansmithee419 Since we don't know this shard's intent, we don't know how much of a deviation it would be for the shardholder to focus on personal survival. If the intent was "invention" for example, the shardholder could easily hide himself away, start inventing ways to hide better, and then never stop inventing better and more elaborate ways to hide. If the intent is something like "doscovery" then the holder could hypothetically leave the galaxy Star Trek style to explore the space beyond as an excuse to keep away from the other shardholders. A holder's disposition prior to ascension can have a significant impact on even the long-term actions of a shard. Rayse, for example, was such an unpleasant person that thousands of years later, everyone thinks his shard is odium/hatred when it's actually passion/emotion.
@@reubenoakley5887 Only he and his followers call him Passion, and while there is a case to be made that he is *actually* Passion, you are wrong to present this as if it's a known fact of the Cosmere. Even Hoid and other shards call him Odium, and these characters especially should really know what they're talking about.
You are right though that a bearer could have the impact you describe, I suppose. I'm sure Sanderson has something more interesting than anything we could come up with in mind however XD. All he's said is that the shard's intent is "tangentially related" to its desire to hide.
Two new and moderately relevant facts I learned from this video:
- The Lord Ruler actually DID explain the way to his Atium stash, our main characters were just simultaneously too dumb and too smart to figure it out and/or need it.
- The purelakers are shitting on the rest of Roshar not just figuratively.
My physics prof is one of the physicists Brandon asked to do math!!! He made dragonsteel give him an NDA because he knew his students would try to pester the facts out of him lol
That's amazing xD
Wait wait wait, I knew Brandon wanted some math to work out, but I didn't know it's an ONGOING PROCESS Damn! Good luck to those buddies of his, they have a tough time ahead of em
Seriously an insane endeavor. This was a few years ago that he said this, so I don't know how it's going - he said a lot of the people he approached didn't even know where to start, since whatever equations they came up with would have to mesh with every single investiture use in the books, which might very well be impossible - but I know it's something he said he wants to do.
@@genericallyentertaining Makes me feel better about the one or two times I gave it a shot and completely gave up 😂
Never apologize for being a walking repository of tidbits of information, it's genuinely awesome and a much overlooked skill
nice pfp
Hoid deserves more hugs.
He really does.
He really doesn’t.
I mean. I doubt he would be overly fond of said hugs, and he also was personally responsible for the murder of God. I'm not sure if that makes him deserving of more hugs.
Urithiru is not a spaceship NOW! Just wait for a space era :P
Navani: is that a challenge?
Rashek is goated for making all magnets point towards his epic castle
One thing I feel should be added in regards to the Atium retcon: Atium mistings were actually just Electrum mistings.
Oh, interesting! I didn't know that.
Does that indicate that iron mistings would be able to burn atium/iron alloys? And all the other variants too?
@@travisperkins9920 Yes, Mistings are able to burn any of the god metals alloyed with their base metal.
@@travisperkins9920 correct! Similarly, gold mistings would be able to burn the Gold-Atium alloy, etc
@@travisperkins9920 Anyone can burn any God Metal, that’s why regular people can burn Lerasium to become Mistborn. Therefore the only thing preventing people from the atium we see in Misrborn Era 1 is the presence of the electrum.
I'm legitimately surprised that Adolin's decision of Onion Rings or French Fries didn't show up here

Ready to see 10ft thick walls of cheese in Stormlight 5
@@hallaloth3112 There will be a plot twist that the wall from the girl who looked up was made of cheese.
Actually it was the other way around. People started making memes about it on Reddit and when asked to weigh in he said it wouldn’t work. Then a while later he came back and said that upon reflection it would work, though you would need a lot of cheese so it’s not practical.
”you would need a lot of cheese”
this coming from the world where there’s a bunch of people whose specific job is turning large quantities of one thing into other things
@@ArcherWillows soulcasters only turn things into other specific things. there's no soulcaster attuned to the essence of cheese lol
I still am in love with the fact that cheese is one of the very few things that can stop a Blade
10:00 Hey that one is from me!!! I asked Brandon in a livestream if the descriptions of animals was accurate or if there were now horrible monstrosities roaming Scadrial, and that’s the answer he gave.
That's awesome! I'm glad you asked that question, because it's clearly crucial information.
Aww, that last one is so sad! He deserves more hugs.
The "I am a stick" interlude should have remained in the books untouched
In fact I expect a preface from the stick's perspective
Just wanted to give a shout-out to all the amazing Cosmere artists that make fan art for these books. The art makes videos like these even more entertaining to watch!
The situation at 5:57 is clearly just an oversight on Brandon’s part, everyone wants that
Favorite useless WoB: Marsh is a dog person, Kelsier is a cat person.
I waited until I read all Cosemre before going on Coppermind but it really just made me confused.... just thousands of facts I had no idea where they came from
Note that the coppermind has a built-in "time machine" to display the state just before release of the latest novel you read.
Doesn't help if you're not reading in publication order, but is great if you're only missing the latest book(s).
The fact that no one in the entirety of the Stormlight Archive has expressed the desire to be crushed by Jasnah's thighs is insane.
CRIMINAL
Brandon has confirmed that Hoid will be crushed by Jasnah Kholin's thighs at some point in the future.
@@TheAmyrlinSeat okay but is this an actual WoB? Don’t waste my time now I need to know if he actually addressed this 🤣
@@dantzelcherry8677 he did say something similar as a joke. I don't remember if it was in a WoB or a stream or what.
Dalinar might've offscreen. You don't know.
I found this both amusing and mildly interesting, even though I already knew most of it.
Is it a bad thing that I already knew like 95% of these....?
You know, I tried my best to find really obscure things, but there's no fooling the most dedicated fans.
@@genericallyentertaining haha yeah these are soooo obscure! Loved the video.
The stuff about adolins name can be taken further as kalad is the word for storm in alethi. Making kaladin born unto the storm. Very thematic.
Couldn't be me, building a ten foot thick wall of cheese to stop those pesky Shardbearers....
We’re on the same page, my friend.
"Hoid had not been hugged in a very long time" this hurt my soul
I found this amusing and/or slightly interesting 👍👍
Nobody explicitly says they want to be crushed by Jasnah Kholin's thighs. So either they *imply* it or they say they want to be smothered by them. Got it.
That Atium fact is very intriguing. Now that we have two examples of Atium alloys, I think it's safe to assume that alloys of Atium and another Allomancy metal function as the opposite of the Allomancy metal. I suspect an alloy of atium and zinc would riot your own emotions.
So burning pure atium would erase all your powers?
They dont work as oposite, more like they unbound your powers give extrrnal efect - electrum is showing your own future, and electrumatium is showing future of others.
This was exceptionally fun, well done
Cheese blocks stopping shardblade is the most useful thing I learned today. Has to be.
Just dropping in to say I love what you're doing with your channel and videos. This was great and you're doing great work!
A fandom so wholesome that even the youtube comments are lovely.
Better to live in the Purelake than just down storm of the Purelake
7:40 and he scrapped the name to avoid confusion with the name of the character called Dusk from the Sixth of the Dusk novella
This is incredible, love it! Although I do have to say, should I be concerned that I already knew most of these? I feel like I should be concerned...
Even if Urithuru isn't a spaceship, I'm annoyed that it was confirmed one way or the other. Spaceship Urithuru was one of my first Cosmere theories, and I'm disappointed we got told it wasn't before we learnt more of Urithuru's real secrets.
But now that we have learned some of its secrets, we can theorize how it can become a spaceship!
Thoroughly enjoyed wasting my time learning about this. Now I can at least brag about these very useful information.
PS: thanks for the Tress spoiler warning, waiting for the paperbacks to come out!
Yeah, I feel like you lied to me. I feel like my life has been greatly improved by knowing I can stop a shardbearer with a wall of cheese. Maybe I already knew that aluminum would work and that is more practical, but like… Just imagine it. I dunno, I just feel like my life has been improved by some of these facts is all.
Edit: I posted this before looking at other comments, and it looks like many of us are on the same page, so what do you say to building a city out of cheese? We could stop the shardbearers together!
These facts were exactly what was missing from my life. I love these, thanks for the video!
I find it very funny that Vin being bad at math saved Scadrial
3:30 the letter h is not itself a placeholder but rather it can be used as a "wildcard" in palindromes.
it's a bingo freespace
... Dude, your Cosmere shipost videos bring me so much joy. xD
My main takeaway from this is that Shardplate might be made of hyper-dense cheese.
We need a 10 hour version now!!
IIRC the Purelake drains shortly before a highstorm, so that might be what he meant by letting the highstorm carry human waste... I hope.
1:28 I have a theory that this effect is how Brandon is going to get more than 10 days out of the next Stormlight archive book. Since the final battle will take place in the presence of 1-3 shards worth of investiture, a reasonably paced battle might actually give time for Kaladin to spread the recently invented concept of therapy to the Shin
I think that Chulls should be trusted with shards. They’re more trustworthy than people
Krem falls east of the Purelake, too. So the western Krem may have a higher content of organic matter, but Krem as such is not derived from sh*t.
Yeah, I know, but I couldn't resist making the connection for the LOLs.
I laughed a lot, daft punk killed me!
I’d love more of these type of videos!
No Stormlight Character explicitly said they would like to be crushed by Jasnah Kholin.
So far!
Top tier content as ever.
I had heard all of these except for the puzzle on the Fadrex City plaque, Brandon listening to Daft Punk for Szeth... I really need to get out more.
I shall be waiting for parts 2-78
I *did* find it interesting! Thanks for making this video :)
I can't believe he was able to say the cheese thing with a straight face.
This was entertaining, thank you
Thank you for the alloyed atium thing. I didn't know that wob, and I think it very interesting. Do you realize that we still don't know what pure atium can do?
There's some theories floating around that it grants a broader view of the future than nalatium, but it has some issues.
That was a very productive 10 minutes video
Actually on shit and trash in highstorms. It’s been mentioned before that the storms do cleanse all the garbage that no one deals with. I forget where I think it’s been said in a few books.
You forgot the wob about how fast a radiant would turn into their fursona
Ganna craft some cheese armor incase a certain Truthless man shows up
8:15 - of course. How do you think Shinovar's dirt stays so lush an fertile? Poop rains.
9:40
Perhaps a lightweaver or elsecaller walked by or interacted with the stick, hence the more questioning "I am a stick?"
the Vin being bad at maths thing had me howling. Imagine how different that book would be if she knew how to solve it XD
8:54 I'm gonna need a quote on that.
5:56 Impossible. Perhaps the archives are incompelete.
I found this amusing and mildly interesting
Hoid, that lucky bastard. He gets to be crushed by Jasna’s thighs
6:31 i can see your cryptic excited about your lie behind you
Out of all these, I knew all but three.
Including the Purelake thing.
Imagine being Kal and fighting in a high storm just for a fat turd from the pure lakes to hit you in your face.
What? The second fact and it's already useful
I love this!!!
THEY JUST- *gestures wildly* hang their waste up?!?!?
That was brilliant!!!! I absolutely loved the video
That was the best VPN ad ever
I couldn't resist.
I thought this video was going to be cringed but holy f*** do. I love it
There is a character that shares a name with the host of Preservation. I do not remember which character, which book or what name that is. The canonical explanation for this is that Brandon has used up every combination of english letters that sound like a name and has to loop back again.
Some of them i didnt know, thank you :-)
I'm pretty sure the puzzle to find the Pits was just a metal circle with a dot on it. If you had a map of the Central Dominance scaled to the circle, the dot points to the Pits. Not especially complex.
I love this, pls do more!
I believe purelake came from a bad idea that he wanted to make work realistically
The cheese WoB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Excellent video
We need a silmarillion type book for the cosmere that has all the lore not explained in the books
So does this mean that Highstorms are actually... Shitstorms?
The Purelake doesn't sound so pure anymore...
...This is amazing. I'm sorry. This is amazing.
Urithiru isn't a spaceship YET. There's still time
So you're saying Cosmere lore is basically reviled like Bionicle lore.
Almost.
nice! i want more, also i knew like half of those things.. wow :D
When is episode 2 coming? I knew some of it but not all
The hoid hug is actually a really important fact. Cuz ya know....
Spoilers....
(Big breath rambling)
Shallan offing her mom who was probably a herald and maybe deleting her spirit entirely(so she doesn't go to braize but dies like drunk Jezhrian) kicks off the whole Odium plot to break free of roshar which is the biggest baddie in all the cosmere...
Which is why Hoid and Shallan stories are to intertwined, cuz hes teleported where "hes needed most" and hes needed there the most to prevent another adonalsium but a more evil malicious one.
HE MENTIONED THE CHEESE SHIELD!
I just watch the shardcast WoB episodes. And all other episodes. Also: investiture can cause negative time dilation and speed up time
Hoid needs more hugs….😭😭😭
Did Honor not say he wished he was crushed between Jasnahs thighs in oathbringer or am i projecting again?
Honour creating the Heralds and the Radiants, tying himself to the preservation of human life on Roshar *on the off chance* he could someday be crushed by Jasnah's thighs.
