Just remember, if the mainboard fails I hope you're still able to get a replacement. Though a lot of modern NAS systems can have freenas/truenas (both use zfs) installed to them to limit data loss on mainboard failure.(the industry has shifted to software raid for a reason).
I'd recommend having an SSD in there for caching read/write if it's used for direct work locally or for faster offloading. Also have it on a UPS battery in case power goes out so it can shutdown without corrupting the contents of the array.
A good step forward with the 321 backup solution.
All good tips! It's not infallible on its own, but it's a really solid first step to get off of portable SSDs
@@budget-church-livestreaming True, it's a start. OH, before I forget should avoid SSDs for long term storage due to recovery expense.
Where was this 196TB I saw?
I talk about it at 4:53. It's if you fill out the NAS and two expansion units. (We don't have that right now, it's just what could be possible with this unit/accessories using the 14TB drives we're using).
Cool. I wanted to buy a Ugreen NAS, but it didn’t have a graphics card. Seeing the 5 drives in this made me question how’d you get that much storage.
@@REGameFlyyeah you won't get that just in the base unit. Ugreen's stuff looks pretty cool, it's just hard to trust a brand new product with something that by definition I want to last for years. I'm definitely keeping an eye on em though
@@budget-church-livestreaming I might build my own NAS with 45Drives HL15 chassis, but filling all the drives with 30TB drives each will be an investment
Haha yeah, that'll get crazy real fast
