I find it amazing that the manufacturers are sticklers about their OE standards for warranty purposes when being repaired. Then you see things like this.🤔
I really appreciate how you spoke about your team mates in such a positive way. I work for BASF and really appreciate the way you handle the product/ I can only imagine where you will be with the product in a year. And we aren’t done pushing the envelope you should see something hopefully by the 1st of the year in the clear coat arena that is a game changer All the best
Great video Kandy Man, just love the amount of detail you put in your videos you tell us what you are doing and why at every stage of the job, the hood looked amazing and you got away with an edge to edge match with no blend needed👌🙏👍John UK
Couldn’t tell you how many Hyundai peelers I’ve done over the years. You think by now that they would’ve figured out how to stop it. Also, from experience with the basf etch wipes, for some reason they tend to dry out into the container, I just took them out out struck them in a gallon size zip lock. Great video as usual my guy.
Nice to see your work on the Hyundai, it’s too bad their QC hasn’t improved any over the years. We had an XG350 back in 2002/2003 and I managed to blast the paint of both left and right side rocker panel covers with my pressure washer when cleaning it at home. The dealership. eventually warranties 50% of the job, after a lot of spirited debate and their claim of having already repaired the car with parts from another Hyundai. Our car was a three stage white pearl, and underneath one of the rockers was burgundy paint. We were the original owners and the car had no previous damage or repair (at least that we knew of)…
Fascinating Video! What is your best shot at getting the paint and clear close to OEM? I figure with all the technology and tools ,at the end of the day, it is the eye the experience ,the expertise that makes the difference!
I must say. Shame on the manufacturers. For what they are charging for a vehicle and you get this garbage. Thanks Kandy Man. Great explanation as always. Have a great evening brother.
Awesome video! Some Hondas also have the same problem. Is it relative to just white paint, car manufacturer, paint manufacturer or factory process? Thanks! Following!
Great video, i had delamination on a door i painted, 2k primed then flatted with 400, 2 coats of base and 2 coats of clear but for some reason the base coat didnt adhere to the primer ive no idea why though 🤷🏻
I would strip even that etching primer bro. It’s too shiny underneath it at the metal. I usually hit it it with 80 grit 6” stripped, then 180 then primer..
Thanks Kandy Man, another good video. On a side note, it is ridulous that recent cars have such pathetic paint jobs. I mean, seriously?!?! My 2005 Jeep still has the original paint, and I live in California.
I have noticed all the peeling white I have done seem to only have 1 primer. All other colors have 2 primers. Its definately sun related as it sticks under decals. Almost every manufacturer has problems with white.
Please could you do a video/series on how to fix peeling lacquer as a result of extended heat exposure, this is for dark coloured cars and countries that are very hot and also for imported vehicles from Japan which usually cars from the hotter areas suffer with lacquer peel. Should the panel be stripped down to metal and start again?
Nice do you have any information about the Rupes polishing orbit machine is it better than Rotary machine or it polishes better the regular machine. God bless
I use Rupes DA, horizontal oscillating sander and an orbital for polishing at work, they are great tools (makes your job easier) but they are not the best in their segments, and they have weak plastics and adhesives (I take care of them) but you can't maintain them new. I tried FLEX and Festool polishing machines, they were better (less vibrations, didn't need a lot of greasing and so on)
You can do anything with a rotary that you can do with a DA. DA's were developed for people that don't know how to polish as they are very forgiving. You can hire a monkey to polish with a DA which actually seems to be a fairly common practice. I have DA machines but I never use them as they're too damn slow for removing sanding scratches after color sanding.
Glassret is a great product,, However, Graveyard cars is doing excellent work with single stage solid colors... And of course, we see clear peeling off nearly every car these days... Black especially looks best without clear..
Noticed you are using he 3M gun again. Does it work better with the Glasurit waterborne and your new methods? Or, is that gun simply working good cross the board? I have also been wondering if you got anything coming up on your personal cars? Like a C8 vette engine going into that little S-10/S-15. Cant remember which version you have other than a clean one.
Sand it off and start over in my opinion. Especially if you are warranting your work. Then it is your process and materials. Not guessing what oem or anyone else has done.
Doesn't the underside of the hood get hotter than the top and have less mils of clear on it? Wouldn't that peel worse if heat and thin clear caused peeling?
That gray E coat looks like a Hyundai replacement panel. Is it possible someone painted a new hood for the car and the repaint failed? Possibly sprayed base right over the E coat? That’s pretty bad for factory, I have never seen a factory job fail that bad. Strange that it’s just the hood if it was factory failure
It's a worldwide problem, here in Australia it's Toyotas, Hyundais, and Kia. A mates Toyota Corolla, bought new, about 10 years old, developed a thumbnail size bit of paint (plain white COB) missing down the the primer, 6 months later, barely any paint on the roof. Strange thing is it always seems to be isolated to a panel like that, a roof, or bonnet, sometimes other panels. To their credit Toyota agreed to have his roof stripped and resprayed, he traded it not long after, on a new pearl white Corolla :/

Thank you sounds good. Team glasurit 💪💪
I am greatly appreciative of all you teach. I learn each and every time i watch your videos. Have a great day. Stay safe and be well. God bless
Thank you
Great Job KM!!🫡
Man my buddy just showed me his 2022 Toyota Tacoma was peeling on the door by the window today.awesome work as always candy man
Thanks 👍

Hyundai is the worst when it comes to paint peeling
Live in the desert. The number of 2-3 year old vehicles I see with delam or clear just burning off is astounding.
💯
Mr Kandy man can you do a complete paint job with minor body work with all the details from sandpaper grits when to use interface pads
Check out the videos on the channel
Fascinating Video! What is your best shot at getting the paint and clear close to OEM? I figure with all the technology and tools ,at the end of the day, it is the eye the experience ,the expertise that makes the difference!
Well, its a Hyundai, that explains alot. The sealer will help with preventing chips. Good job.
I must say. Shame on the manufacturers. For what they are charging for a vehicle and you get this garbage. Thanks Kandy Man. Great explanation as always. Have a great evening brother.
Hey Kandy man have you tried the 700-10 cleaner I think it better then the 700-1 try it out
Will do
Awesome video! Some Hondas also have the same problem. Is it relative to just white paint, car manufacturer, paint manufacturer or factory process? Thanks! Following!
Thanks for the support

Sorry to hear that

👍
My jeep is holding up nice and I’m in Florida I do maintain it properly though
Once again great video. Quick question, why only 2 coats of clear?
That's the recommended about from basf.
Hopefully they told you guys the 1k wipes are for ferous substrates. The 2k wipes are for aluminum, magnesium etc.
Please could you do a video/series on how to fix peeling lacquer as a result of extended heat exposure, this is for dark coloured cars and countries that are very hot and also for imported vehicles from Japan which usually cars from the hotter areas suffer with lacquer peel. Yes it should be completely Stripped to bare metal. Sorry don't spray lacquer it's a thing of the past
Nice do you have any information about the Rupes polishing orbit machine is it better than Rotary machine or it polishes better the regular machine. God bless

I use both. But I use the milwaukee brand

What sandpaper grit did you use after scraping? 180-220?
320

My question is did you say 4. something mill's of total paint? As thats a lot of paint
Hi KM. Just wondering if the underside had any peeling? Cheers from Australia!
Not at all
@@kandyman5315 thanks mate!
The shop my uncle works at sprays glasruit 55. What are the differences between 55 line and 100 line 9
Older system
Would you do the underside too if it's peeling?
Yes I would but wasn't necessary
Have you always used your DV1 for sealer or is that new since the transition to Glasurit?
Just retired it from clear to sealer
@@kandyman5315 the C1 or C2 cap?
Nice and ❤
What color is more difficult to match, white or silver?
Both are tricky
How meny epoxy coats you spray is 1 nice coat epoxy primer good then paint
One good coat

I love the 3m gun
@@kandyman5315 I noticed you were using the original style of tip rather than the new fine tips. Any reason?
@satamanschmidt3428 no reason it was on the gun so I used it.
It’s always the white color ones that do this. When I was in a shop majority of the vehicles that did that was white hardly ever any other color
Sand it off and start over in my opinion. Especially if you are warranting your work. Then it is your process and materials. Not guessing what oem or anyone else has done.
It is best to leave on ecoat
Doesn't the underside of the hood get hotter than the top and have less mils of clear on it? Wouldn't that peel worse if heat and thin clear caused peeling?
It not the heat. As much as it is the uv rays bottom is fine

It was a factory Peeler . We service the local dealership
Hyundai vehicles have this problem. They only waranty newer vehicles and only certain coating colors (pearl white,)

Crazy. Thanks for the insight
The process of painting in the factory should be so fine tuned that this never happens
I agree 👍
120 years of car manufacturing and painting, and they still fock it up!
🤫
This shit has been going on since the late 80’s.
Yes it has
This video title is wrong ,it's supposed to be how to repaint car parts 😊
🤫
Wow, 1990's all over again. Must have sanded the edges. Hopefully the underside of the hood doesn't start to delaminate.
Underside of the bonnet (hood) hardly has a breath of paint on the ecoat.
Why is it always the white paint lol
Lol
Newer modern paint sucks not chemical resistant
Paint has definitely changed
