All the features you like about the Meike of it being “softer” “silkier” are attributes more prevalent from DZO lenses. The Miekes’ are more sterile, and have less distortion. It doesn’t make sense of why you would want a lens to soften skin when a filter can do that. If you want those attributes of soft and creamy, get some vintage lenses and save some money.
Which focal length would you recommend for me? I'm using a FF L Mount camera and I personally love the compression out of higher focal lengths however I'm not sure if I can accommodate such focal lengths. What I mean by that is sometimes I need to shoot in tight places + on a gimbal, personally on the verge between the 50 or the 85 but I may even need to widen out and get a 35. What would you recommend me to do?
SLR Magic APO Microprimes crush the meikes, they are much much nicer lenses in my opinion. Severely underrated, I legitimately have no idea why they are not the go-to budget cine lens in this price range
Other reviews I've seen indicate significant color variation between lenses. That and the soft focus encourage me to lean towards the DZOfilm VESPID lenses. I've written to Meike about the color variation issues and they indicated what you see is what you get. Pity, as it is a liability when handing off un-graded footage to a client.
Big advantage of DZO is marking apertures on assistant side and the fact they have a matching zoom.

What do you think about the Meike compared to the SLR Magic?

Nice review 👍 may I know where did u buy the lens from? Cos I can’t seem to find a reseller in SG
Very good review!
The only problem is the lack of a macro lens. This set would be perfect w a 100mm macro
Its a shame that the 85mm has different color renditions than the rest
Thats the only thing making me go for dzo vespid
