    First time I tried weight training at 45 years old. Now at 47 i am deep into it and loving it. Life changed before wright training and after are 2 different lives and me. Best thing for me. I feel and look better than 10 , 20 years ago. I also naturally stopped drinking alcohol over a year ago, cleaned up my nutrition and just feel more energetic, positive, confident. It’s transformative.

    At around min 56, Annie is so on target: sugar is the problem; the culprit of inflammation, mental fog, slugginesh, weight problems, glucose intolerance, T2 Diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and so much more. Just giving up processed sugar can have such a positive impact on your health!

    • @girlinterrupted9145
      @girlinterrupted9145 Месяц назад +1

      Processed foods and seed oils , actually. Sugar isn’t as bad , depending on how much you consume . There are recent studies that show sugar consumption hasn’t increased that much since early 1900’s but the processed foods along with seed oils have. This seems to be the greater contributor to much of the increase in diseases we are seeing today.

    This is amazing and successfully experienced by myself. Im 53 years old and have been running long distance for more than 10 years , but I decided to incorporate weightlifting 3 years ago after I had a total hysterectomy, I never stopped cardio and running , but took strength training seriously. I have never felt this strong and active , the highlight if this life style is the results of my last bone density test, my number was similar to women in mid thirty.. this made me commit to my training even more . It’s a life style, not necessarily to live longer, but to live stronger and self sufficient mywhole life hopefully 👌❤️thank you for this inspiring video

    So inspiring! I'm 59, last cycle fall 2021, I have always felt the post meno fat explosion is not destiny. All of this makes sense. I especially love Annie's commitment to eat mostly whole foods and lots of protein, cooking at home. I'm getting that, what a great difference it makes! I've been resisting HRT but hearing it everywhere. Not sure if I'm going to do that but am willing to look into it. Blessings all!

      I also agree, I'm lighter than I've ever been at 52 as I work out several times a week and eat mainly meat and veg, plus 90% choc and have a strange penchant for rice cakes with grass fed butter a few times a week. I have just started getting crepey upper arms though. Was using HRT patches, but ask my doctor for blood test to check they were working. Turns out they weren't working enough, so I'm now awaiting bio identical HRT products on prescription. I would definitely go for HRT as despite this I definitely notice better mood. Plus I would take it for bone density protection alone

    So, I got my metabolic rate set at 35 when I was 50 and I was fit, but nothing like Annie. My husband who is same age as me got his put at 54, and although lean and muscular does not take same measure as me (vapes, drinks, poor diet). So that shocked him! I got told by the instructor at the gym that the machine will only take 15 years off the actual age, so it’s plausible that Annie is lower than 36. Like Annie I have never felt fitter but I have a way to go until I build muscle like her.

    Sick of fitness promoters/doctors talking about age like it’s not a factor of time. You cannot ever reduce age, be younger, have a x age body that is not your age. The only way to do that is to time travel. You can live longer or be fitter but age by definition is measured by time!

    • @helenbailey5054
      @helenbailey5054 2 месяца назад +17

      Think it just means things like blood pressure etc is same as younger person not that you are going to live longer. Only that you are not putting so much strain on your vital organs etc due to accumulation of years of bad living.

      If at the age of 30 you drank a lot of alcohol, had a large body weight and did not have physical activity, then by correcting all this you can be better at 40 than at 30.

    • @BodySmartPodcast
      @BodySmartPodcast  2 месяца назад +17

      Annie definitely isn't talking about time travelling, but is it a pretty standard practice to record how your metabolic age (how many calories your body burns at rest,) compares to the average for people of their chronological age in the general population.

    • @glenoh88
      @glenoh88 2 месяца назад +8

      @@BodySmartPodcast like I said - metabolic age is bs. It’s the length of time an organism has been alive. You can be fitter and have a higher quality of life and maybe live longer but I will bet anything that nothing will change the age of anything (living or dead) except possibly time travel. If that can be argued. No kidding being fit, active and strong prolongs lifespan…It’s kinda been known for ages. Should be common sense.

It can provide a general idea of your metabolism so you can take steps to manage your weight and improve your health! It's a very widely used measurement! If your metabolic age is lower than your chronological age, that's a sign of good physical health. Conversely, a higher metabolic age may suggest that you have health issues. even if you have cut out processed food
      also my mum looks younger without makeup and less wrinkles and no grey hair despite being 50. HOWEVER SHE admires this lady because she says jsut because she has no wrinkles or HER face looks younger does not mean shes healthy(she has bone problems and her body is not in good shape). She admires how you europeans are confident despite having early grey hair or wrinkly skin
      some people say weight lifting strained annies face to look old....THTS NOT NECESSARILY TRUE
      REMEmBER MOVE WITH NICOLE THE PILATES AND YOGA QUEEN?...SHE HAS A YOUNG BODY BUT IVE NOTICED HER FACE AGING RAPIDLY DESPITE STICKING TO GENTLE YOGA AND PILATES
      ITS NORMAL FOR FACE TO AGE WELL BUT CAN BE HEALTHY BY HAVING A FIRM BODY AND STRONG BONES

    for me She doesn’t look that young 😂maybe she drink wine too with her workout regimen. I’m 54 I look younger than her and I walk a lot . I walk 20000 thousand steps in a day and I don’t eat out at the restaurants 😂 I eat whole food and I cook and I love cooking.

      @@parisaparis6229 Annie doesn’t state that she looks younger than 53 but testing showed that with the lifestyles changes she’s made, her body functions at the rates of people in their 30s rather than 50s.
      We don’t need to tear other women down to celebrate our own successes. Annie is stunning, kind and fit 💪 It sounds as though you are doing great with daily movement and whole cooking so amazing work 🙌 Do you also strength train?

    Great conversation guys. So so important to get the message out there particularly for Gen X / Baby Boomer women that strength training, eating enough “real food” protein sources and enough natural fats will improve both health and body composition . I understand why you guys are talking about “loosing weight” but the bigger picture is prevention of diseases the most prevalent being, Diabetes type 2, Alzheimer’s and Cancer. 🫶🏼

      Thank you so much for this comment 🙌 One of the things we take great pride in is that typically our clients find us when they are at their wits end and want to lose weight and by the time they graduate our program and share their accomplishments weight is the last thing they mention. The physical, emotional, and mental transformations that come with nurturing your body never gets old to us 🧡
