I am from The Bronx and the bars on the UES was more of an issue with the drunk fights going on..
The Bronx zoo has a large number of non resident visitors along with Arthur Ave
No not dangerous.good people.
I live in the bronxs now
☜
“Theres no one getting robbed” they edited the part that said “theres no one getting robbed right this second” lol ... i love the bronx, but lets be real , it can get jumping FAST
You're not helping.... I have lived in the Bronx for 4 yrs... Never got robbed or had any trouble.. You look for you get!
@@5argetech56 He's right though.
@@5argetech56 ture
The Bronx is 97% dump 😳
@@5argetech56 he's actually right. Stop sugarcoating stuff in life and be real with yourself for once, and you'll see how far you'll go
Before moving to the Bx, my friends would tell me that it was "so dangerous", yet I've been here almost 30 years and never had an issue, I also met my wife here as well!
Hella rare. Great!
You were just lucky.
@@fasteddie9055 disagree, not all of the bronx is terrible and I've lived and walked in bad neighborhoods 🤷🏻♂️
i do love when John goes outside of Manhattan though and explores other spots, i feel like everybody does videos in midtown and downtown. But as someone originally from Queens, the stuff out in the other boroughs is most interesting to me
Glad you like them!
Best part of John’s videos! I feel like the same a lot of NYC vloggers are always showing expensive trendy places to eat which is fun but I want the culture and hidden gems of all the boroughs!
@@courtneydrexler3374 exactly! there's too many dope places throughout the city, even the locals dont know all the spots so it's cool to learn about those places. Not everything needs to be the trendy tourist spots all the time
@@courtneydrexler3374 facts
I agree, there's only a few quality vloggers for NYC...this one goes in depth outside the mainstream tourists sites
You should absolutely visit the bx!!!! The new york botanical gardens is here, yankee stadium for baseball fanatics, there is a dope modern art museum on the concourse, the bx zoo is lit, there is a waterfall on west farm square, there is food galore here too. You can go from jerk chicken to arroz con pollo to chicken parm and more. Little Italy in the bx and the market is a nice visit to stock up treats. There is vancortland park and also Pelham Bay park which is the biggest park in NYC. Clemente park is beautiful too and fun during the summer. There are hidden gems for history lovers like myself too. So I agree, take a visit, just be mindful of your surroundings like visiting any other borough. I was born here, love it here.
Great assessment ... 100% correct
Dead on 🎯
Thanks for sharing an insider's experience from living there. Real deal.
Don’t forget Van Courtland Park, been living next to it for 5 years now and it’s the best decision I’ve ever done. A nice quiet area and it’s perfect for people who are so used to living in the suburbs. The park itself is HUGE and you can do all sorts of activities such as BBQ, jogging (which I currently do) golfing, fishing, hiking, and just exploring the whole park if you feel adventurous but careful as you can get lost if you don’t know where you’re going lol
@@hit9819 definitely this park too!
Chuckled a bit when I realised he’s wearing LA hat in NY video.
🤣🤣🤣
Hey I like LA lol
That's because NY wears whatever they want and style.
@@shawnbillz8602 Nah, NY better
Yeah, that was the first think I noticed too. In front of Yankee Stadium, no less!
Moved to the Bronx 1951. Went to school PS 43 then Wilton JrHigh then went to Dodge H S. near the Zoo. We moved to the Concourse 1975. Loved the Bronx. We moved to N Jersey. In 1978 moved to Florida. I am still here 42years. God bless the Bronx and all the people there.
I went to PS 43, too! Back when my family lived on Brown Place, it was right across the street. This was in the mid-80s, when that area was a lot of abandoned lots and sketchy business going on. Let alone being sandwiched between two of the most dangerous projects -- Mitchel and Mill Brook houses. Still, I have fond memories of being a kid there around that time.
For me, the place I really loved was University Heights... The food, culture, and vibe was the coolest ever! Never had any trouble whatsoever!
Thanks to both you Jon & Shawn for this video! My family left the Bronx in '66 to Queens as the neighborhoods were then in decline. I am happy that there is, and will continue, to be a resurgence in interest in The Bronx as destination and residence. The Botanical Gardens, The Bronx Zoo, Little Italy eateries, are just a few to mention. Also Grand Concourse with its wide boulevard and awesome Art Deco buildings. There is also the illustrated book I bought: "The Beautiful Bronx" by Lloyd Ultan to consider...Thumbs up!
🤠
@@shawnbillz8602 Good job Shawn...we enjoyed the tour & plan to visit the old neighborhood again..
I used to live around yankee stadium back in 2003-2007 when the stadium and park were the other way around. Great times and memories from back then. Them long stairs im telling you me and my mother use to go to those stairs at least 3 times a week , Nostalgia
Your content keeps getting better and better, I'm from Amsterdam in The Netherlands and I would like to go to NYC after everything that has been going on lately. Keep up the good work John!
I live near Amsterdam NY USA 👍
The Bronx was first settled as the "New Netherland" colony in 1639!
I've lived in the Bronx for almost 29 years. Never had a problem. I grew up in Manhattan. Was robbed at gunpoint in my own home, among other things. There are some areas of the Bronx I would not live in. But there are plenty that I would, just like any where else.
Robbed at gunpoint in your own home ... but which town ? ... Manhattan ?
@@gardensofthegods there are no towns in NYC. There are neighborhoods. And I lived in the neighborhood of Inwood, in upper Manhattan. Anymore questions?
@@Mocs6574 yes yes that's what I meant neighborhood good Lord

This is what I’m most fired up to see in NY thanks for the video 🙌🏻
They are showing Roberto Clemente park which looks like a dream while they are filming... What a farce! It's ghetto af in the summer those buildings next to it reminded me of New jack city when my sister lived there! There are so many other nice places in the Bronx to visit than where they were. This was not a good representation.
Thanks for this video. I was one RUclipsr who was scared to go anywhere uptown and certainly the Bronx was out of the question. I appreciate you highlighting this area. Keep up the amazing work.
Glad I could help!
Your welcome happy we could help
Been living in New York for 16 years I only stay in queens and Manhattan cuz Brooklyn and Bronx I’ve gotten robbed so I stay away but I think I’ll stop by some time you made it look nice
Hey I got robbed in Manhattan 2 times smh
People come to the Bronx to do so much more: New York Botanical Garden, The Zoo, Wave Hill, Arthur Avenue and do so much more!
Two of my favorite movies are in the Bronx. A Bronx Tale and Finding Forrester.
Remember Shawn from Tal’s Bronx video - he’s a great guide
That's how i got introduced to him!
Thanks just a local kid trying to show the world my lil village
So true
Thank you covering this area and all the information! Looking forward to Part 2
Me too🤑
Don't sleep on the Bronx. And notice we always call it "The Bronx" . We don't say "The Brooklyn" or "The Queens" etc. And everyone who lives in the outer boroughs knows that Mahattan is "The City " 😜
Well, it may depend on something, but in my day -born and raised in the Bronx, 74 now, we never said “the city” we referred to Manhattan as downtown. I know other outer borough residents may have said the city, but not if you lived on Tremont Ave in the Crotona Park area of the Bronx.
It was beautiful and horrible, but for sure, it was our lives and all we knew of the world.
I’ve lived outside of nyc for almost 50 years now.
I miss it, I will always miss it.
You can't just have a blanket statement. Depends on where and what time of day probably more importantly.
WOW, that was great. I am coming to NYC in June and will go and eat in the Bronx. Way cool, well done,
Your definitely going to enjoy your self
I visited the Bronx on my last visit and the Yankee Stadium is where I visited. I did walk around and I did feel it was a little sketchy. However not going to judge it on one visit.
Good idea
Billz energy is so crazy. Dude is positive 👍
He has his own youtube channel now too.
Thanks🤑
Ta da!? I've just subscribed to your channel hopefully... One day you'll do a video about Africa 🤔
@@kitgumayegang2562 that would be sick John in Africa lol
It's more than Yankee stadium it's the bronx zoo/botanical garden, Pelham bay park, city island
I spent a year living in Westchester, parking in Pelham Bay and taking the 6 to work on the upper east side. I still miss the mariachi band that used to play on the train.
River Park Towers
I appreciate showing the Bronx a little love. If it wasn't for Staten Island it would be the most overlooked borough 😉. I'm sure it's too late but I reccomend going up to the Parkchester area, very interesting architecturally and historically
A couple of thoughts on the best kabobs in the city. The best street ones are at Frankie's on 31st and Steinway in Queens, it's a truck and not a cart so they have more options, pork, beef, chicken, lamb, and even shrimp. If you want old school cart kabobs the best I've had are on the corner of 152nd street and 3rd ave near the hub in the Bronx. I've been to the place you went to on Burnside but the place on 152nd is better, they've been on the same corner for 52 years. Recently another cart opened across the street from them, if you go, make sure to hit the right joint
There’s the west side of the Bronx to. Riverdale, Fieldstone, Different vibe.
That’s where I’m from! :)
Can’t forget about Pelham Bay Throgs neck
Those are my most favorite parts of the Bronx. That is my hood! I'm from near that area basically.
Bronx Boy myself. Don't forget the Bronx Zoo & the NY Botanical Garden. That's my old neighborhood.
I live in the bronx
"The Warriors" movie I think is a timeless piece of art. Unforgettable. I would visit now.
Miss the old Yankee Stadium

You should also show places like the Bronx Zoo, Coop city, Riverdale , Van Cortlandt Park, Arthur Ave. No disrespect to the spots along Grand Concourse.
Van Cortlandlt park is my favorite park. It's near my hood.
Was at Yankee stadium in 2019 after a mls game and had a wonder afterward had had a cool chat with some dominican guys who were really friendly and chatty.
Yo! Why is your man wearing a Dodgers cap on a Bronx tour?

It was soooo fun.I think I should visit Bronx for next NYC trip👍
Sounds like a good idea!
I used to have to run around making deliveries to bodegas in The Bronx and so much happened to me I could write a book. About 10 percent of what happens is good.
Lol they really trna
Make it seem like that shit not dangerous
Born and raised here but its never been a great borough to settle down in or raise kids. Last year, like most of the city, the borough was crazy. Loud music at night and fireworks and lawlessness made many leave. One thing is visiting to eat. Another is living here, unless its Riverdale or Pelham. Overall, the bronx is a place to motivate yourself to leave and not stay there forever. I left and currently living a much better life.
I live here for 20 years. I went once by mistake and never got back there. It was a horrible experience. Unfortunately most of people is not like this nice guy
In the borough bronx there is alot of poverty and dangerous neighborhoods and if you are a tourist from another place that is not the bronx especially if you are coming from another country or states I suggest you take a cab to visit or if you have a car you can drive take the car because the trains are very dangerous to take. I don't know why they talking about Washington Heights because Washington Heights is dangerous too
I’ve been watching you for sometime and I really liked how this guy showed you around and felt like I should subscribe to him ( I’ve seen him once before in a video ) and I felt like I had to subscribe to you and your videos have a gotten better so I said to myself I have to subscribe to you. Saw this video a couple days ago came here to comment.
That's pretty slick, out of town stan got Leroy hood as protection😐
The bronx zoo is worth the trip but it takes 2 days to see everything.
Looks nice in daylight, but let's see them come back and film at night.
I grew up about four stops north of Yankee Stadium on the #4 line. Left at 22 to go to grad school and never came back, for good reason. I don't know why they suggest attending a game when the Yankees have decided to make the ticket prices unaffordable in order to keep "undesirables" meaning neighborhood residents out. Even when I lived in NJ in the mid-90s I could come in and get a ticket in the nosebleed section for $12-15. In 2010 it cost $180 for three tickets and $23 for parking (I used to park free on Walton Avenue, but with a rental car don't take chances), so I did get to the new stadium, but won't be going back.
One item left on my bucket list is to walk across High Bridge, where I grew up just a few blocks away. It was closed for many long years and just re-opened a few years ago. Next trip back . . .
What I love about the bronx n the 5 boroughs is the diversity
The Bronx is my favorite New York City Borrough because it's got a hard edge to it.
I gotta give you credit I challenged you a few months ago about coming out here & u did respect 👏

Just about every part of the city is not safe right now. The crime rate is through the roof , I even advise people who are visiting to not go out past 9pm. Midtown and parts of Brooklyn are not good places to roam out at night. Sad times.

I like Mario's restaurant on Arthur Avenue in the Bronx took the subway there, last time we went the owner told us not to walk to or ride the subway at night so we took an Uber home, I read the owner died from COVID
He was a really nice guy I actually did the electrical work in that restaurant

i have been the bronx on my own as a tourist from Liverpool uk ,went the zoo also casle hill it was good

The forgotten borough, but, The Bronx is trying. It is not an easy turn around. I will say that buildings have increasingly popped up and there are new places to explore. There are many hidden gems and she (The Bronx) just needs a chance to shine. The South Bronx is mostly the area with much needed reform but there are signs of improvement. If you venture out to other areas they are cleaner and quieter. I will say this for the Bronx, there are lots of parks about twenty! She is a lovely girl trying her best. Bronxite for over 50 years.
No Borough is really forgotten. I recently visited St, Louis, Memphis and Arkansas. Those places are empty ghost towns with population decline. In comparison, the Bronx is a super busy busy hotspot
Thank you the video. Bucket List for me to visit. From Winnipeg Manitoba Canada 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
The Bronx is a very dangerous place. I wouldn’t recommend going💯
It's not bad as it was in the 70's and 80's. Now I'm hungry for cuchifrito
You should try this dish call Mondongo at Roy's Restaurant on East Tremont. El Valle.
Why Everyone thinks Bronx is the most Dangerous place in NYC? have you been to Brooklyn?
Nice. Next can you give us a tour of the projects? :)
Or he can give us a tour of Co-op City, City Island, Parkchester, Riverdale, Orchard Beach, Pelham Bay Park, Van Courtlandt Park, Belmont Avenue-Arthur Avenue.
Yeah they are more exciting than trailer parks. Trailer park trash can't create anything....except meth.

It’s cool to wear a Dodger hat. I see people wearing them all over the world.
Because nobody from outside NYC ever wears a Yankees hat?
You gotta interview someone from the projects ! Lol

My wife and I are attending a Yankee game in August and staying in The Bronx for four days. Any places where we should avoid? We’re thinking of visiting Little Italy and the Botanical Garden.
Arthur Avenue is great. The Zoo’s worth a visit.
He said there's no dirt or garbage on these grounds. There's dirt and garbage everywhere. Lol
Please, Jon....EVERYONE knows it’s “DA’ BRONX”!...Not “The Bronx”...Some parts of The Bronx are still kinda wild but most of it is fine-QUITE a different story, though, back in the late ‘70’s, though....

There are more staircases like that. They even show up on Google maps when you ask for walking directions. But you have to be careful on them as most of them are not well-cared for. The steps are broken with bottles, needles, & other junk on them.

The Bronx sucks. But its not in the extreme like it use to be.
My issue is that Blacks (and Brown) can be racially profiled by each other too much.
I never committed a crime in my life and I have to walk through residential neighborhood to get to the Bronx mall, I get alot paranoid vibe being Black.
There's still occasional low class idiots hanging out at night and make too much noise.
So yeah the Bronx still can be a crap basket.
Only reason i would go to NY would be to take a dump.
HAVE YOU GUYS FISHED ALONG HARBOR ?
I was born in the bronx in 1961
Thank you.
all these NY travel videos are excellent and whetting my appetite for my planned visit in July. Just a bit concerned, they're too good, to the extent you are showing everything that NY has to offer, some may question why they should visit at all. Part of travelling is the mystery ( at least for me ) of a new place , discovering things for yourself and not being guided all the time. Ok that may be viewed as risky, but as long as you take common sense/sensible precautions to mitigate the effects of nefarious elements that you find in all major cities, you should be fine.
