Kurt Donald Cobain (February 20, 1967 - c. April 5, 1994) was an American musician who was the co-founder, lead vocalist, guitarist and primary songwriter of the rock band Nirvana. Through his angst-fueled songwriting and anti-establishment persona, Cobain's compositions widened the thematic conventions of mainstream rock. He was heralded as a spokesman of Generation X and is highly recognized as one of the most influential alternative rock musicians.
Cobain formed Nirvana with Krist Novoselic and Aaron Burckhard in 1987 and established it as part of the Seattle music scene that later became known as grunge. After signing with DGC Records, Nirvana found commercial success with the single "Smells Like Teen Spirit" from their critically acclaimed second album Nevermind (1991). Although Cobain was hailed as the voice of his generation following Nirvana's sudden success, he resented this, believing his message and artistic vision had been misinterpreted by the public. In addition to "Smells Like Teen Spirit", Cobain wrote many other hit songs for Nirvana, including "Come as You Are", "Lithium", "In Bloom", "Something in the Way", "Heart-Shaped Box", "All Apologies", "About a Girl", "Aneurysm", and "You Know You're Right".
During the last years of his life, Cobain struggled with a heroin addiction and chronic health problems such as depression. He also struggled with the personal and professional pressures of fame, and he had a tumultuous relationship with his wife, fellow musician Courtney Love. In March 1994, Cobain overdosed on a combination of champagne and Rohypnol, and he subsequently entered an intervention and underwent a detox program. On April 8, 1994, Cobain was found dead in his Seattle home at the age of 27; police concluded he had died on April 5 from a self-inflicted shotgun wound to the head.
Cobain was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, alongside Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic and drummer Dave Grohl, in their first year of eligibility in 2014. Rolling Stone included Cobain in its lists of the 100 Greatest Songwriters of All Time, 100 Greatest Guitarists, and 100 Greatest Singers of All Time. He was ranked 7th by MTV in the "22 Greatest Voices in Music". In 2006, he was placed 20th by Hit Parader on their list of the "100 Greatest Metal Singers of All Time".
The unassuming house at 114 Pear St NE was erected around 1914 and is a triplex, with two apartments on the street and a small third apartment in the rear. Musician Kurt Cobain lived in this house between 1989 and 1991 and, according to sources, wrote about 75% of his total lifetime output here. The house has become a Mecca for Nirvana, Cobain, and grunge fans, although it is not inventoried or marked in any way. Nirvana’s first hit, “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” was inspired by graffiti written on the wall of this apartment by Bikini Kill artist Kathleen Hanna. - Развлечения

I saw Nirvana in Concert when I was 15 years old in Roskilde Denmark I was all the way up in front and Kurt gave me high 5 that was amazing, he was a great guy and I have greta memories of that day
Huge fan. I'm proud to say I lived through the grunge era. It was amazing. My band and I used to jam in my parents basement to Nirvana tunes. RIP Kurt. Amazing tour. Thank you. It would have been a cool feeling to stay there.
I had just watched your Kurt Cobain video and in walks my 19 yr old from a shopping trip and shows me her Nirvana/Utero t-shirt she just bought. I told her “I just watched a video of a house that he lived in that’s being torn down!” Perfect timing.
I just love how passionate you about Kurt and nirvana. You’re almost giddy. 😃 like a kid seeing Disney for the first time😉
Kurt Cobain left us way too soon. I have no doubt in my mind that Nirvana would still be out there rocking out and being amazing as always.
The first time I heard unplugged in New York my mind was blown! Id heard their music on the radio and I liked it....but after that mind blowing experience I went out and bought it on cassette tape. It is great. Many many years later my teenage daughter swiped it from me and listened to it probably hundreds of times...I think she may still have it. Shes 33 and a mother herself. 2 generations of Nirvana fans.
It was an integral part of my youth as well, it would only of been more blind blowing to have been at the actual show.
It was there second to last ever performance
I just wanted to say I loved Kurt and his music he had a voice that shook me to the core and I was hooked. I was in jr high when I first heard his music. My aunt her boyfriend is a dj from back then he knew Kurt and spent time with him and had a video he showed me when Kurt had a show or after party. He told me stuff and Kurt was in Anaheim California for a while. I was born In 1991 I was so sad when I heard he passed I didn’t know. What a beautiful home may he rest in peace 😢❤
Hey, fantastic video. Loved it 💖💚💙💛❤

Kurt made it big the last couple years of my high school and a couple years afterwards. His music wasn’t my thing so unfortunately I really didn’t know about him until after he was gone!!
I had a really good friend who was really into to grunge and loved Nirvana especially because we grew up in a small town too, like Aberdeen, not too far in Washington!!
My youngest daughter, 25 yrs old, is into the grunge scene.

So cool story, I sold these magnetic bracelets all across the country. I end up going to ocean shores Washington and we have to drive by Aberdeen. Immediately all I could think about was Kurt. We went to a weed shop in Aberdeen and the dude was like, “You wanna see Kurt’s Dirt?” I got a picture in front of his childhood home. Fast forward three years and I live down the street from the highland tower house. I love Kurt and his music and everyone that he has helped inspire and hope more people discover themselves through his music and philosophies.
