Sombrero Narco No. Ragnar was the better warrior. Floki was completely dedicated to the Gods that is why Auslaug wanted Floki to care for Ivar. Ragnar was a better warrior though. All Ivar learned from Floki was his extreme hatred for Christians.
Chad Saxon yeah Ragnar was a great warrior, but Floki was also a great warrior he was one of the few characters in the saga who survived all previous Viking campaigns.... and you have to consider that Ragnar never spent much time with Ivar, it was Floki who was the father figure for him and thought him things about his heritage, fighting, strategies and to be a fearsome warrior if he has the opportunity to prove himself to the gods.... Imagine that Ivar was raised by Athelstan, then he would be a complete different person...
Sombrero Narco I just feel that Ivar inherited his hatred for Christians from Floki and his fearlessness in battle from Ragnar. The two are a deadly combination
that isnt the reason ubbe stopped. ubbe realized that the army feared IVAR, not because of purely who he is, but because he is a song of ragner. If you killed the son, the viking army would come down on them even harder.

Psychological warfare back in the days. Love how they portrayed its effects with just good acting, makeup and some basic camera work, as if the audience is actually experiencing the same as those soldiers, in first person. It was a relief after the bad CGI in the first episode.
Psychological warfare?!! LOL!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 How can this be a proper form of psychological warfare?! If the Ivar the Boneless really did this in real history, he would be having his last breath the time he did that. The Christian Saxons will laugh at him for putting himself in a vulnerable situation for no reason at all. In real life, it is unimaginable why the soldiers would not swarm him. Simply put, this never happened in real life and is just an overdramatization of real history.
@@timothyteipen9432 Ivar had no choice as his legs became weak. But he also knew that these commoners would have no reason to kill a lone son of Ragnar, which would only cause the wrath of his army to come down on them even harder. He called their bluff and laughed in defiance to show that he had no fear. Of course he knew he was down but he also refused to be intimidated by the enemy and would never surrender even when the enemy assumed it would be but a certainty.
@@timothyteipen9432 Life's a lot more complicated when you throw in malnutrition, a lifetime of servitude and military hypocrisy. It isn't just that they're scared it's a clash of culture. The man isn't cowering, he isn't scared, he isn't anything they'd expect. Scraping a life together as a soldier back then was miserable, draining and full of ruin. Then you come around a corner and a guy with no legs is happier to see you than your own family. Religious delusion, tactical charisma, or just general rage - these things will win fights. Crazy always wins. Inaction is really underestimated as well as group-think. Most people don't even remember these moments, because when fight's break out people tend to think they happened much faster than they actually were. People lose time in combat situations, regularly, from shock, from bewilderment and from confusion. Feathering these things can cause a lot of problems. All it takes is a few lemmings in front and the rest will simply wonder what's happening, watch a flank. That's the negative of having soldiers who simply do what they're told - they wait to do what they're told. Ivar's bravery comes off as tactical, but he welcomed death many times - because if you flinch, you really do die right then. You embolden the predators around you. So when a volley of arrows is coming at him he doesn't flinch because if he does he loses the battle. He's dead anyway. So he doesn't flinch at the arrows because if they hit him, he's dead, if they don't, well... people think are superstitious and cowardly by default. That's the con and it works. The cult of charisma. Domination and submission are tactics you will see play out over and over your whole life in many illustrious ways. People have a need to submit, a need to rebel, a need to fight and a need to relent. These things are chaotic mind you, you have to read the room, but some people don't need to. They walk in and just "know" how to handle people. It's scary. Ivar had limited tactics in this moment and picked the right one. Soldiers throughout time are still the same as they are now, just lacking the information, nutrition and cultural benefits we've had. But I've seen groups rout at nothing more than a gesture. It's why firing squads need 9 shooters - because people don't have a lot of nerve, or gall, and are half-invested in other people's wars. Ulysses S. Grant, early in his career, was told to lead the defense of a small town. His soldiers went to bolster the cities defenses, but after 2 days, he ordered them back out and told them to defend a field which was below a hill. This position was extremely dangerous but Grant, taking his orders to the letter, stated very clearly that his orders were to defend the town - which meant not letting it be destroyed in a siege. He couldn't maneuver fast enough given the terrain, so he took the disadvantageous position to draw the enemy to him. It took 3 months, during that time his scouts reported wildly inaccurate data, he had a near mutiny and lost 3 men under him who petitioned accusing him of insanity, being unfit for command and various other slants. Finally he had promoted so much from within his own men he had little support from any troops and was told he'd receive no reinforcements. Scouts started to report, accurately, the force coming was 3-4 times bigger than his own and this was reliable intel. Still, he held fast his men. Cut off from support, the day finally came when the enemy forces were to arrive. Grant lined his men outside the town stoically. He had a near breakdown over this, due to the fact that it meant near certain defeat, capture, or worse. The men remained disciplined though and they stood there, waiting. Finally sunset comes after a long, long day, and scouts go to check out the hill. They come back ghost white, all of them in disbelief. Finally Grant has to go up there himself and lo' and behold, enemies gone. See, this force had very good intel, they even had spies that confirmed Grant's numbers. They had a superior force, they were well fed and rested and they were experienced commanders. They had every reason in the world to win. That was the problem. See from their point of view, they were rolling up on this town and its defense *made no sense whatsoever*. Never mind scouts, spies, or 3 month old intel. Who in their right mind would defend a town this way? Who would allow themselves to suffer total defeat? They surmised that Grant MUST have troops within the town defending it and that his force was twice the size it appeared to be. The windows were shuttered to hide these numbers and, obviously, it was a trap. They would be stuck in a siege and it would destroy the town they were after. That's the only sensible defense - so they confronted Grant on the field and when he didn't budge, they waited, then walked away. There had to be more to it. It wasn't cowardice, it was just total disbelief. Even seasoned commanders psych themselves out if you truly don't flinch. Never underestimate this effect and how important it is. It's not a great tool, winning smart, playing the game better and relying on training and camaraderie are better tools. But it'll do in a pinch. ... and that's when it matters anyway. That's when people start to see what you're really made of - there's nothing that can replace courage, even if it's partially psychotic. Real conviction and intensity... it makes anyone wonder what you know that they don't. What are they missing that in this moment you could be this way? Then they flinch. All it takes is a trickle of doubt before it blooms into a landslide of paranoia, anxiety, worry and ultimately sheer puzzlement. This isn't just a tool for war but enjoyment. You truly convince yourself you're going to have a good time - and you will. Truly letting those fears die is hard, they're insipid, it's a lifelong battle but for some - they get lucky and learn it early. For Ivar, in this fictional portrayal, it was a curse and a blessing... but that's life. He needed that validation and that's a horrific twist on it all. And is that what they really saw? That ghoulish mask he put on wasn't a visage, it wasn't fake - that's what made it so effective. It's who he was trying not to be - a cornered animal. It isn't pity - it's the realization suddenly that a wounded fox is the most dangerous animal you've ever encountered. This one will really mess with you. If you've ever seen an animal truly trapped and ready to attack, it's something to witness. It's truly disturbing. Is that what they're really seeing? Putting aside any tactical sense or maneuvering... relying on that animal within changes things. It takes a kind of shameless zen, a truly uncaring lack of self-consciousness. But Ivar's secret was that he always wanted them to kill him. At least that would be an honest end - all those that'd cornered, teased him and berated him for being "weak" never had the guts to do the job they said "should be done". That's where that rage came from, a place of true senselessness. That's the silver lining to it all. He's never cornered because he's always cornered. That's what shocked these people. It isn't just fear. It's a horrified curiosity mixed with disbelief. It's sudden, stark and brutal understanding. Just... understanding. That freezes people all the same. Life's crazy man, it's never so simple. Chaos is just way more robust than anyone can ever account for.
Notice how a lot of the time ubbe looks kinda scared of ivar, he shares Ragnars ability to “see the bigger picture” and I think he knows ivar is one to be feared, I think he knew for a while
I’ve never seen this show in its entirety but after watching Ivars death recently years later it’s interesting how Ivar seems to represent the Vikings and Nordic countries frenzied berserker fable. It’s as if Ivar is far more dangerous than a non disabled person because he somehow seems to control the Vikings like their a drone swarm and he’s the operator. If this were a video game then Ivar would definitely have a bolstering effect on nearby units as a supportive role with a debuff against enemies but again, it’s interesting how its almost like he’s directing controlling his warriors in both this scene and the more recent death scene of his.
Same with the vikings protecting him, they are teleporting haha I don't get bothered by these things, by the time they are discovered by the director, it is too late anyway.

But yeah I agree don’t get me wrong Floki is an excellent warrior! But Ivar definitely learned from both. He is a perfect Viking
Chad Saxon if you look at Ivars fighting style and weapons its very similar to Flokis, but yeah he learned from both ^^
Unforgettable and underrated show. This was my favorite moment. Chills every time
The Camera work in this scene is epic
xDDDDDDD
Srsly?
Camera work was like filming scene in very cheap movie.
I love how his “handicap” makes him the monster they tremble at
Best scene of the whole entire show
Travis did make better scenes but this one is good too
yeeahh... no...
No.
Nah. Ragnar coming back to kategatt after paris was the best. No doubt. *"Who wants to be the king?*
@sudeep_kc_tv Ragnars speech: Soon I shall be drinking ale from curved horns. I think that scene is a strong contender as well.
One of... One of my favourite scenes with this beautiful man. Goosebumps everytime 💖❤️💞💞💕💓♥️💗💖💞
I like how Ubbe contained it cause he knew if his army attacked immediately, the opposing soldiers would get to ivar first
Was it not because he was watching ivar a cripple on the floor controlling a army with fear by himself ?
that isnt the reason ubbe stopped.
ubbe realized that the army feared IVAR, not because of purely who he is, but because he is a song of ragner. If you killed the son, the viking army would come down on them even harder.
@@synconjon7534 I can see that however I also think it’s because ubbe wanted over too have personal glory and too gather as many troops in that section to fight
My boyfriend watched this scene and started roaring and I'm just sitting next to him like 👀
bring him some to drink he will dine with Gods
Still my favourite scene from the show 🤯🔥
This is one of the best shots of the entire show. Ubbe witnessing his crippled brother more powerful than any of his siblings. Take note. How not a single soul broke the line facing one man and one man alone.
Ubbe holding back the other Vikings while Ivar is speaking: Hold on, let him cook.
Incredible the power you have when your bloody to your neck and none of it it’s yours
I keep coming here to get hyped!😂
After seeing The Last épisode of season 6..... 🥲🥲
I get goosebumps every time I watch this! Amazing performance from Alex!!
This scene and the scene with Bjorn taking all the arrows give me goosebumps every time!
Notice how a lot of the time ubbe looks kinda scared of ivar, he shares Ragnars ability to “see the bigger picture” and I think he knows ivar is one to be feared, I think he knew for a while
Whoever did the sound design in this scene did their job properly
One of my fav parts of the whole series, down to when ubbe says let’s move and over is loving the chaos around him. A amazing scene
If this were a video game then Ivar would definitely have a bolstering effect on nearby units as a supportive role with a debuff against enemies but again, it’s interesting how its almost like he’s directing controlling his warriors in both this scene and the more recent death scene of his.
this scene and i start watch full series
I love how Ubbe held everyone and just stood there in amazement
Amazing scene..Ivar nailed it!!
Amazing acting and amazing character. Almosts makes us forget that king Ragnar died
Por causa dessa cena eu comecei a ver essa série! #teamIvar
Sends shivers down the spine… absolutely fearless and real
I rewound this scene at least 10 times! Incredible scene! Scary MR’er!
I just notice that he threw his axe, and then at 0:56 Boom, he have it back. Still so a magnificent scene.
he had 2 axes dude
Ali HAMMAMI he threw one bruh
Ali HAMMAMI I know he had 2. He threw one, and then he have both again.
Patryk Krakowski yeah but in different shots he's holding 2, then next shot 1, then again 2
Same with the vikings protecting him, they are teleporting haha I don't get bothered by these things, by the time they are discovered by the director, it is too late anyway.
Está foi a melhor cena, eu me arrepiei todo.
Powerful!!
I like the way he talked in this show. His every sentence is boom!🔥
I listen every word of him so carefully. He made the show alive after Ragnar's death
One of the best scenes in Vikings.
That battle cry thou
The best scene in the entire series
he played a great part .love the show
Watching this everyday to refresh my personality
Ivar The Bonless - " First of His Name, King of the Andals and the First Men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms, England, and Protector of the Realm."
Robin D fan gays of thrones , ivar will do red eagle to john snow ,!!!!!@#@###@@@@aaaaaaaaa
Robin D Wouldn’t Ivar be the second of his name, because he was the son of the king?
Even jon snow won't take them titles. Even if he finds out his heritage.
Shut up.
Who's here after the finale? All hail Ivar
I feek like they did this season for the sake of finishing the series since a lot less people watch since Ragnar's death. Kind of dissapointing in some ways.
@@layonduff Yes lot of plots from different characters uncompleted and they rush some others to a drastic end but far way better end than GoT X)
Just watched this episode and ivar is by far my favourite.
I hope he lives on. The fearlessness, the gods took his legs because he would have burnt the world
This give me CHILLS like nothing else.
To this day my favourite scene, gives me chills but for the first time ever I noticed...
0:20 yeets his axe
O:53 has it back
1:13 loses it again
Ivar = jedi confirmed
You can see him swap hands but I mean the shot changes he literally has 1 in either hands and when the shot changes it's gone again and he has 1
Ok, hear me out... Compare this to the guttural monologues from Dare Devil and Punisher when more than just words can make men freakin tremble. This young man's acting is really good. The fact that if he were actually standing he would be over 6ft tall so that's a presence on it's own, can you imagine if they wrote Ivar the way history has him written?! I love that they gave him the affliction for the show though, super effective story telling. The affliction made every move he made uber-deliberate.
agreed if in the show he'd been ivar the hated, the other interpretation of his name, he'd be a force of nature in the show
Gets me amped every morning!
really captured the "berserk" mode vikings get when in battle, like they cant be pierced by metal or burnt by fire... luv it
The greatest scene ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Just absolutely amazing
Omg this is my favorite scene !! ❤
Love this ,,,this lad is one helluva actor absolutely smashes this scene , absolutely smashed it 🙌🙌 vikings I love it !!!! Still miss Ragnar 😉
Ubbe holding back to let Ivar do his thing and make them shit their pants.
:D I was wondering what he was waiting for, thanks for clarification.
Last episode Ivar in the process of dying "I'm afraid"
Aw common, thats some completly different context..
Aint fair
they destroy that final season
Because when he saw himself Dying
His monster side dissapeared and then the small Ivar the cripple came out because well he didn't wanted to die
@@stavalamo6643 😭😭😭
We won't tell anyone
im starting doing MMA after and before the training session i watch this jesussss god damn IVAR its PURE ADRENALINE!!!!
This is shot really well. Very Spielberg-esque
I would be proud of him haha
if I was a saxon I would've shit bricks.
I'm not a Saxon but this scene made me crown.... and jizz a little. if he doesn't win an award for this...... there is no god
I wouldn't he's nuts but can still die. Still bad ass tho haha
I wouldn't really care because a saxons are worthless fighters. They had a clear shot, but still missed.
DexPlays Saxons are worthless fighters? Lol.
Bro don’t take this show too seriously. The Anglo-Saxons and our mainland European Saxon, Angles, ect are great warriors. We’re literally no different than the Nordics up north.
🇩🇪 🏴 🇩🇰 🇳🇴 🇸🇪 Germanic/Nordic unity
I would ve put an arrow trough his filthy lil mouth, the scene is kinda cringe an not realistic at all but still kind of cool.
This is phenomenal acting.
Havent seen much finer acting since this in a historical drama hats off🙌🏻
