    Looking to get my CDL and envying need to drive fuel trucks. Any tips and what companies might be easier to get experience? Looking to make a career change from medical field to this. Thanks for any feedback.

      It really begins with getting your license and all your endorsements. Then like any other job get experience. You don't need to go over the road to do that. Go local. You could start out as a seasonal driver like I did when I started. I got a referral for a tanker company and came on as a seasonal hauling asphalt emulsions then worked my way up to a full-time fuel hauler. Many different driving jobs you can do to get experience. Mixer truck, dump trucks, water truck, asphalt paving aggregate and emulsions to name a few these are seasonal jobs looking for drivers. Then ladder up and apply at fuel tank companies. You have to then get carded at the loading racks, that takes additional time that the companies train you. Depending on what market your in a fuel tanker company might take you on as a new license holder. They need drivers. They need squeaky clean driving record too so you can be insurable. Very important. That weeds out a lot of folks right there. It's a great truck driving job that is well compensated but you will earn it. We work 50-60 hour weeks so keep that in mind. All the best man you can do it.

      Probably a little late just wanted to throw my little 2 cents in. If you were wanting to be a fuel hauler right off the back from getting your CDL with the endorsements you could give Jacobus Energy a try. They hire no experience paid training and haul fuel locally home daily. Pay is pretty good starting out not sure where you live but here in the Atlanta area they start off 30$ hourly with guaranteed 40 hours + with overtime options.

    That Truck Is Purrrrdy!!! Obviously the company dispatcher decided to put their A-TEAM #1 Driver in charge of that baby... Happy Easter to you and your family as well Dalton. Take care. I'm just about to get my TC fridge repair wrapped up. Had to put it off a couple weeks for office work and taxes. Get that fishing rod ready, Spring and Summer are coming and I can hear nature calling to go camping.

    Is it true that if you own your own tanker truck u get a percentage of what each gas station spent, that u deliver too ?

    • @WestCoastRoller
      @WestCoastRoller  2 года назад

      Not sure. I never met any owner operator fuel tanker drivers when I was in Oregon. I think they are more prevalent in Texas.
