Here is a great scan tool that has a lot of capability and will get you access to transmission temperature:

Fantastic video which gives me a quick briefing on what to expect. Love that it was straight to the point.
Thanks for checking it out!
Thanks man. I had to change some hose due to a leak and had to readd. Great video!
Thanks Carlos! You’re welcome!
I did this service on my 2011 at 70k miles and today at 134k miles. The first service took 4 quarts with the pan dropped, cleaned, and reinstalled. Oh, and I did the filter/pickup change too. Anyway, with VCDS, I did the temperature thingy and let the excess drain out........... fast forward to today. The transmission is as dry as a bone on the outside (no leaks). So, rather than all the bull shit temperature readings, draining, etc., I put back exactly the amount that drained out after it sit overnight night dripping ..............4 quarts!
Exactly. Every other time when I change engine oil, I drain the ATF as well. I use a pitcher to catch the drained old ATF and mark the fluid level around the pitcher. Then refill with new ATF of the same amount from the refill port.
Good footage. Easy to follow. Thanks!!
You’re welcome John!
Thanks for the video. I'm going for my first attempt, ever. What size fill adapter do I need to buy. Doesn't seem like my transmission filter kit or pump kit comes with one.
You’re welcome! I’ve got a link in the description to the kit (several adapters) that I bought. I don’t recall which one in the kit I used, but it’s only $15 bucks for the whole kit.
Hi ... Congratulations. I am Brazilian and here we only receive these models of VW Tiguan TSI without DGS. But I'm doing the transmission swap for DQ500 DSG, could you clear some doubts since in your country the DQ 500 DSG is from the factory?
Hi Vilker, I'll do my best to help out but I'm uncertain of the question. What is it that you would like to know?
What’s size did the tool you used to fill it? Doing a 2014 flush this weekend.
I linked the adapter kit I have in the description.
What is the thread size of this plug-in filling tube adapter? Thanks
I’m not sure, but there’s a link in the description for a kit that contains the right adapter along with several others.
Help needed. I accidentally unscrewed the transmission fluid drain plug instead of the oil drain plug. Only a little bit of fluid came out should I replace everything?
“a little bit” is very arbitrary. If it’s only an ounce or 2, then you probably don’t have to do anything. That small amount will hardly effect the trans fluid level.
If you’re concerned it’s much more than that, then you can use this video to add the appropriate amount of fluid and then drain the excess.
Best of luck Daniel!
Thank you. It is my mom’s vehicle and I’m leaving to go back home tomorrow I am going to tell her to keep and eye out for the transmission temperature light to come on and listen for funky sounds if a light comes on then stop immediately and call me I’ll have it towed.
@@danielcastilleja7869 la salvaste? yo no pondría en riesgo una DSG, son muy delicadas!
Hi 👋
I have a question my clutch is staying sometimes at the middle it doesn’t come back fully ?
What do you think is it the clutch set eith fly wheel and everything or the cylinder for the clutch ?
I would definitely suspect the clutch master cylinder.
@@bennieaust i Order it and try to change it becuase today i parked the car on a hill and when i start it it wont go into gears when is off goes in gears
@@asanov6399 definitely sounds like the clutch master cylinder.
@@bennieaust thanks for the replay 👍
Where can I find the drain plug washer? Thanks
The dealer is always a for sure bet, but an auto parts store should also be able to get you one.
Do you have to worry about the temperature of the oil
I would suggest doing it when it’s cold so that you don’t have to worry about it.
Hi buddy my wife blew out the pan on her 2017 limited tiguan. Do you know what fluid type it requires?
The spec from VW is "VW G 055 025 A2". The brand will vary depending on what auto parts store you go to, but that's the spec it needs to meet.
@@bennieaust Transmission Oil - G 055025A2 (new G-055-025-1L-DSP). The old one (G 055025A2 ) is no longer in production.
@@jimmychow4917 thanks for the info!!
Very nice video. Can you suggest OBDII to display the temperature of the ATF? Is this AMtake OBDII sacanner works? thanks
The scanner I used in the video is a Launch X431. Most scanners that display live data have a good chance if displaying transmission temp.
Thank you for your information. Should I use the VW ATF fluid? What is your suggestion?@@bennieaust
@@jimmychow4917 you can’t ever go wrong with OE fluid from the manufacture, but as long as the fluid you chose meets the OE specification you’ll be fine. Valvoline maxlife ATF meets a lot of OE specifications and is my go to ATF when it does.
@@bennieaust That scanner is like $1500. OBD11 is a good choice. Nice simple clip, thank you. 37C is the temp I believe. What is the torque spec for the plug? please.
@@redthreadzen 12 ft lb
Pro tip- pull the fill plug before the drain plug. That way if you can’t get it off for some reason, you don’t drain your transmission without any way to refill it
Hey Jimmy, it’s only a pro-tip if it has a separate fill plug. :)
Smooth brain Jimmy doesn’t know there’s only one plug.
How many quarts of transmission oil are you going to need ?
5.2-6.3 quarts
@@bennieaust a que te refieres con cuartos? eso en litros cuanto es?
@@pabloalfarotamburini5133 3.8 l = 4 quarts
Can I just measure what comes out and pump in the same amount? Thanks!
You can, the only guarantee is that it will be at the same level it's currently at, If it's not at the correct level now, it will still not be at the correct level after the service.
@@bennieaust tks!
