i feel like as someone with starter locs, so many people feed us false info. everyone's hair is different and that factor needs to be taken into consideration. i've had so many people tell me things that clash so I just learned what works for me and that's what i go by.
My loc’s were thinning out before I reached my 2yr journey. I realised that the whole time u gotta let your loc’s mature properly wit the new growth that’s underneath them. Since the summer I’ve just let them freeform and now I got the Afro under my loc’s and they’re now becoming more thick in general. Just a lil message to those who feel like they wanna cut their dreads due to the thinning. Trust the process. Your loc’s will be restored if u take time for them to mature. Avoid playing with them. That’s the mistake I made when I reached the 1st yr.

i keep a bandanna or head scarf on throughout the day, with my hair out in the back, to protect my crown and keep me from itching and/or playing with my hair.. my locs are grateful~ peace an love family 🙏🏽💕
My son & I have had starter dreads in his journey I used beeswax every 4 thru 16 days due to my budget of affordable scarfs to wrap his hair but I got mine dreadloc journey with Spencer hair gel and they never budded kept them for 5 months of 24k oils and couple washes from a spray bottle but my sons last almost 3 years with that process...awesome information THANKS
The dreads in my pic are free formed 3 years no retwist. Literally every dread was congo and they were wicked up too. I recently cut them in March, let my hair grow, and got it twisted. Now I’m 4 months in with the traditional dreads and even though they’re not as cool as my freeforms, I actually am liking the retwist process so far. They dropping WAY faster than the freeforms and I can style them more fr.

8 weeks is to long for starter locs, they will start to unravel and you’ll be basically restarting the loc process, 6 weeks at the longest before retwist of your starting locs

Really depends on your hair and what it can take. I get mine retwisted every 30 days. But I get it retwisted AND braided every 2 months. 3 years in and I’m stretching with no thinning.
My dreads are waist level been growing for 8 years never play with your hair or other people never braid your dreads it will cus thinning in the long run use oil and retwist 2 times a year once every 6 months

3:06 I never went to bed without a scarf before. Not when my hair was permed, not when I decided to grow an afro, definitely not planning on skipping out on scarfs once i start my locs journey
I washed my hair once a week since starting my locs. What I would do most times tho is wash it WITH THE DURAG ON. Then -without removing durag- I would sit under the hair dryer and not remove my durag until my hair was completely dry. That way, the hair got washed but still tightly wrapped and laid then dried quickly so there’s no mildew. Condition with tea tree / peppermint / avocado oil mixture. Gotta love my wife lol

He wash your hair once EVERY 1-2 weeks this isn’t recommended if you don’t do your own hair, you got your dreads twisted which usually takes about a 3 weeks to until you should get a fresh retwist....washing your hair that frequent in my eyes defeats the purpose and hurts your pockets more than necessary in my case I say keep it moisturized for a month and when you are able to have time to do or get a retwist then that’s when you wash, using my experience as a reference I think this is the way to go!!!
I needed this for the 3 previous times I tried to get dreads cut them every time because every reason you named in the video this was my first try but I got them now watching to see if I can start sleeping without the Durag but yea got dreads because I naturally learned these over the 3 previously dread attempts😅
I let my hair grow out for about 3 years and started the loc process maybe two months ago. I wear my durag and wash my hair once a month usually when I'm about to get my hair re twisted. I needed this, this is definitely gonna help once I start my dreadloc journey I didn't know about few of those things I was told wax was the absolute best at one point and I didn't know playing with them a twisting them will ruin it what about playing with the dreads by just running your fingers across ur dreads and making them look messy which I see a lot of people do but will that also ruin them or no? I needed this for the 3 previous times I tried to get dreads cut them every time because every reason you named in the video this was my first try but I got them now watching to see if I can start sleeping without the Durag but yea got dreads because I naturally learned these over the 3 previously dread attempts😅
Just start my lock journey yesterday, founding this today is a great privilege for me
I let my hair grow out for about 3 years and started the loc process maybe two months ago. I wear my durag and wash my hair once a month usually when I'm about to get my hair re twisted. If some unravel before then I usually have my gf twist it back up but I never knew I could wash my hair. Just need product to keep my hair moisturized

I needed this, this is definitely gonna help once I start my dreadloc journey I didn't know about few of those things I was told wax was the absolute best at one point and I didn't know playing with them a twisting them will ruin it what about playing with the dreads by just running your fingers across ur dreads and making them look messy which I see a lot of people do but will that also ruin them or no? I have a huge problem with messing with my hair and especially once It's in dreads but if I can at least do that than I should be fine so again thank you this is a huge help before I start getting them done it helps in the long run yk
