    1. Dont get your hear retwisted too often (wait till like 6 or 7 weeks)
    2. Don’t avoid wrapping your hair up (wear bonnets or durags)
    3. Don’t play with your hair (stop twisting it)
    4. Don’t use wax for your dreadlocks (use light gel or oil instead)
    5. Don’t avoid washing your hair ( unless your in the beggining stage ‘you can wait for about 1 month to wash your hair’)

My loc’s were thinning out before I reached my 2yr journey. I realised that the whole time u gotta let your loc’s mature properly wit the new growth that’s underneath them. Since the summer I’ve just let them freeform and now I got the Afro under my loc’s and they’re now becoming more thick in general. Just a lil message to those who feel like they wanna cut their dreads due to the thinning. Trust the process. Your loc’s will be restored if u take time for them to mature. Avoid playing with them. That’s the mistake I made when I reached the 1st yr.

The dreads in my pic are free formed 3 years no retwist. Literally every dread was congo and they were wicked up too. I recently cut them in March, let my hair grow, and got it twisted. Now I’m 4 months in with the traditional dreads and even though they’re not as cool as my freeforms, I actually am liking the retwist process so far. They dropping WAY faster than the freeforms and I can style them more fr.

I washed my hair once a week since starting my locs. What I would do most times tho is wash it WITH THE DURAG ON. Then -without removing durag- I would sit under the hair dryer and not remove my durag until my hair was completely dry. That way, the hair got washed but still tightly wrapped and laid then dried quickly so there’s no mildew. Condition with tea tree / peppermint / avocado oil mixture. Gotta love my wife lol

@Chyna Z it’s cuhz when you sleep with nun on yo head the friction of your head rubbing against your pillow or bed will loc your hair faster this is also why the top of your head is usually the last part to loc up

I was waiting for you to talk about washing before I liked the video lol I’m sooo glad you said that! Washing actually helps the locing process.. it helps the hair tangle.. idk why people think dirty hair locs faster or grows faster... LIES lol

He wash your hair once EVERY 1-2 weeks this isn’t recommended if you don’t do your own hair, you got your dreads twisted which usually takes about a 3 weeks to until you should get a fresh retwist....washing your hair that frequent in my eyes defeats the purpose and hurts your pockets more than necessary in my case I say keep it moisturized for a month and when you are able to have time to do or get a retwist then that’s when you wash, using my experience as a reference I think this is the way to go!!!

I let my hair grow out for about 3 years and started the loc process maybe two months ago. I wear my durag and wash my hair once a month usually when I'm about to get my hair re twisted. If some unravel before then I usually have my gf twist it back up but I never knew I could wash my hair. Just need product to keep my hair moisturized

I needed this, this is definitely gonna help once I start my dreadloc journey I didn't know about few of those things I was told wax was the absolute best at one point and I didn't know playing with them a twisting them will ruin it what about playing with the dreads by just running your fingers across ur dreads and making them look messy which I see a lot of people do but will that also ruin them or no? I have a huge problem with messing with my hair and especially once It's in dreads but if I can at least do that than I should be fine so again thank you this is a huge help before I start getting them done it helps in the long run yk
