Sorry, but if you’re complaining about the stock double action trigger pull, you’re missing the point of a DA/SA gun, and you should probably stick to striker fired, or 1911 style guns. That long, heavy double action pull exists for a reason, which is SAFETY , in order to prevent an accidental discharge on a duty gun without a manual, external safety, so that the firearm can remain in condition one ( ready to be fired) while maintaining a higher level of safety. So, yes it’s a compromise, but it’s a purposeful one, and it doesn’t merit a complaint because the design was intentional. If you’re complaining about that, it just means you don’t understand the purpose for a DA/SA gun, which means you’re not much of a gun person.
Also easily replace springs and sear kit (I did) and it 100% changes the gun. Plus I like completely dismantling a gun after the first few mags to learn it's inner working and keep clean/lube it.
As a retired Air Marshal. That LONG DOUBLE ACTION you said takes 10 guys to pull... Is rediculous. It is for a purpose and that's for safety. This 229 is an amazing firearm in which Air Marshal, CIA, FBI, DEA All Carry and we don't complain about the long hard pull. It's part of the conditioning, part of the job.
@@c2protect FBI issues Glock Gen 5 models. CIA general issue is the Glock 19. Secret Service has switched to the optics mounted Gen 5 Glock platform as well. Air Marshals carry the Glock 19 along with the P229. DEA issue the Glock 17, and Glock 19. You have failed.
Magazine disconnect issue is a real problem. I had a debris stuck on the retention lever of the mag disconnect, and ii had to press the holder with the pin to move the magazine. The debris was due to badly clamp pressed reloaded ammo.
If you can’t shoot a DA/SA pistol, the fault is with the person holding it. Dry firing and shooting will result in learning the DA/SA system. EDC a Beretta 92FS for a decade with no problems. But I grew up with DA revolvers, so long trigger pull was part of my learning curve. Now use P229 and 226. Just a great system.
Yeah I don't know what this guy is talking about, and if you mess with your trigger and use your gun in a selfdefense situation you will look very bad in court so maybe he's just going to use the gun at the range.
Nothing to see here. A gen Xer who loves striker fire plastic. He should not waste his whining on a precision engineered P22x line of pistols. Move along.....
Not being disrespectful, but folks have shot double action revolvers for years with great success with heavier than 10 lb triggers. It just takes consistent practice. I prefer double action only to da/sa, but every one has preferences. I shoot both striker fired and double action.
You don’t have to shoot from DA, train pulling your weapon out of the holster and pulling the hammer back. We did it back in the day when the Corps issued us m9 berettas.
If a 10lb initial trigger pull is a problem, I’m going to suggest it’s not a gun problem. Frankly, that sounds awesome to me. No NDs with that setup. And treating the hammer like it’s a problem is odd. Frankly, I won’t have a striker fired except as a gift. Which would probably be regifted as soon as is decent to do so. Didn’t learn anything about the 229 here except it’s got a good DA setup stock.
I’m not sold on striker fire weapons , not one bit. Call me old school but I also believe in basic fundamentals of marksmanship, and I mean basic, you should be able to zero and shoot with iron sights at least with a BZO of 300yds minimum on your rifle. Pistol , most pistol engagements are below 36yds , fancy expensive red dots on a weapon that’s meant for point shoot method doesn’t need red dot. We did MOUT with carry handle iron sights we don’t aim in mout we point shoot, it’s all grip and keeping that weapon under your line of sight. When we had RCO “acog” we looked over the top of our fiber optic. Red dots on a pistol that you’ll probably end up shooting someone within 10yards from your house main door to your bed room door in your hall way , doesn’t need a red dot. Accuracy by volume , and gaining fire superiority . You’re not gonna try to snipe someone in your house lol 😆
First of all the P229 is among the top 10 guns ever. Pure quality and reliability. Secondly, you totally miss the point of why DASA is by far the best and specially for concealed carry. Unfortunately all the best carry guns are striker fire. DASA guns are in an unsprung natural state 99.9% of the time. Only if you rack it or manually pull the hammer back is it under tension. You practice at a range the first 10-12lb pull, then you have the glorious perfect SA pull after. Striker fire with one in the chamber is 100% of the time under tension. And leads to accident discharge much easier. No one blows off their nuts with a DASA or DA firearm.
Just to let you know: If you use your gun in a selfdefense situation you don't want to touch your trigger so the sig's stock trigger works good for selfdefense.
My P229 recently chipped a part of the frame off where the mag release resides. The firearm is now a paperweight as taking a magazine out will cause the magazine catch/release to fall out. Sig never fails to disappoint! I guess I'll be going back to my Glock 32 for carry. FYI, I never replaced or messed with the magazine catch or any internals.
How the actual f did you manage to chip a metal frame? Were you using it to drive spikes for the railroad? Its a gun bro not a hammer stop beating things with it.
The last time I was subjected to so much misinformation was listening to Kamala Harris.
You sir, are clueless about DA/SA firearms. I don't even know where to start..........
I agree. He does not know proper DA technique. And this guy is a trainer.
Nothing says not knowing about a firearms operating system like complaining a DA/SA trigger.

I use a bone stock 229 w an optic to compete with and do well. Ya cant beat them for out of the box ready to go.
